In her heart, there are unresolved desires of her youth. What desires could she have, after all she had gotten everything. From the hearts of the people, the wealth of the nation and the high of flattery and lust. This time there's a chance of something different. Life is still what it is, an unpredictable thing and even more so, it was the most mischievous and petty. Happy ever after is for only those that hadn't seen the end, she had. Somehow she was given a chance to rewrite another script. As the unknown wife of a business mugul. Yael, who?
Four days later
Patches made from large drops of water left the hospital gown hanging off Yael's body wet.
Her two hands trembled as she held on to the sink's basin.
Slowly, her dark brown pupils watched as water trickled past her defined features.
The horror of the untold added a certain shakiness to her person.
She stared intently into her reflection.
Water had clumped her flurry of thick and long lashes together adding to their volume.
The tip of her pointed nose had turned slightly red due to the chill of the morning air.
The radiance and brillianceof her sunny beauty didn't diminish. It just had a more pitiful touch to it's overall delicate facade.
The visual impact of her new reflection reminded her of people who's beauty proved disastrous to them.
It reminded her of herself who had merely looked above average and had let herself be taken advantage of several times.
Sometimes for power, other times because of her own lust.
Either way, it was always a win-win.
She retracted her gaze.
There were more important matters to handle like her discharge which was long overdue.
With that thought, she let the flimsy material of the the hospital gown pool at her feet.
Her body moved about and she distracted herself from the reason she was feeling disturbed.
Uncoordinated, she turned to the bathroom mirror just to see the hazardous sight of her hospital gown once more.
The pile of clothes in her hands were slowly plunged into water.
Yael's lips thinned as she got carried away watching the clothes soak up moisture in the sink.
Something had scared her out of her sleep.
A dream. More like a revelation.
Augustine had lived and died yet she hadn't gotten a chance to see if Heaven or hell was real before she was thrust into another life.
The previous life she'd led was filled with hunger for power, for recognition.
She wanted this one to be different.
She would be Yael but happier. Not an Augustine with a life filled with deceit and lies.
Yael.
She just wanted to be selfish in a different way.
This dream was prompting a foreign thought.
Besides, she had never been religious.
....
The sound of a cane striking the ground with a certain rhythm was prominent.
The rug covering the span of the floor proved useless against it.
The exquisite chandelier overhead swung lightly, there was no fear of its falling. That was it's beauty after all, it would always swing delicately despite the intensity of the wind, charming it's beholder with it stability.
"The Yu child aborted the pregnancy ", the sound of the cane striking the floor seized.
"Yes. Perhaps there was a complication with the pregnancy. This, however, cannot be confirmed at she's at that hospital of the Song's.
It's quite difficult to investigate as she hadn't used her own identity"
Butler Li still had some brown in his hair, a representation of his lingering youth.
Over the years, he had turned into a close confidant of the older generation of the Mo family and was deeply embroiled in their affairs.
He was aware of the recent tense relations that had been created in Hong City.
"She'd had a consultation with the family doctor that day".
A distant crash brought a pause in the articulate speech, "Besides, Gil was also present. We would have been informed, if there was anything worth mentioning"
The patriarch of the Mo family, stroked the white beard on his chin.
He promptly dismissed his aid with the motion of his hand.
Butler Li left on command.
His expression took a turn. He was unimpressed yet reproachful about the commotion outside the Old Master's study.
The household was usually quiet and it's owners preferred it so.
The wizened eyes of Patriarch Mo watched the aged wooden doors close without a sound.
The traces of age on his yet majestic face became more prominent deepening the look of shrewdness and wisdom he embodied.
The Yu child had always been lackluster, yet she was quite simple.
He hoped the soft spot he'd developed for her wouldn't be ruined by this incident.
....
Yael swaggered out of the hospital in her ill fitting hospital gown.
The clothes she'd worn to the hospital were ruined.
Alternatives were offered but Yael still left in her current getup.
Her footsteps were light and spirited as she calmly walked out of the odd bookstore next to Commonweal holding a paper bag.
It was essentially the first rush hour of the day, hence, what a small stream people saw on their way to their destinations was an aggressively good-looking lady in a hospital gown with a stern face walking with a bounce to her steps.
The sound of a shutter went off.
Someone had taken a picture of her.
Unperturbed by the fact, Yael climbed into a cab.
Her body leaned into the comfort of the warmth the fur car seat provided, acknowledging the driver with a shallow smile.
"Intersect of Heaven's Regard"
The driver gave her a thorough look before starting the car.
Heaven's Regard was short for the most expensive residential region in Hong City. Only the affluent and powerful could afford to live there.
Yael knew from the steady speed he drove throughout the ride that he understood that she didn't have an ordinary background.
She further reinforced that understanding when she got off and paid her taxi fare without even counting the notes.
Four 200* notes was too generous even if she was adding a tip but the driver didn't dare mention it and drove off.
Heaven's Regard was a general name given to mega estates located side by side to each other.
The real estate industry was excited when various of its big shots decided to compete by developing several hectares of land with only fences to differentiate them.
The four classic estrance gates for the different estates stood side by side each having different styles to reflect the theme of buildings in them.
Yael pressed her phone against her ear.
Her eyes focused on the cameras facing her direction. If she stayed outside too long, she would look suspicious and the security would have to escort her out of the vicinity.
" It's Yael speaking.I'm at the Intersect of Heaven's Regard. Can someone be sent to come pick me up?"
