Beast Driven System

The modern age of human society had undergone an evolution that changed it forever. Mana had arrived on Earth, and with it, came a meteor shower that threatened to reduce humanity to nothing but rubble and debris. Earth's governments were thrown into chaos because of this, and many military units were deployed to protect the masses from what they could only assume to be the end of the world. Using the most advanced arsenal possessed by the various world military governments, the adverse effects of the meteor shower had been controlled to an incredible degree, protecting most of Earth's inhabitants from utter annihilation. There were countries that were destroyed, leaderships and citizens wiped from the face of the Earth. Reconstruction had to be done to bring the demolished landscapes back to their former glory. It seemed like everything had gone back to normal, however, that was far from the case. Months after the meteor shower incident, world renouned scientists dedicated their time to studying these strange crystalline meteorites. Years later, and something ground breaking had been discovered-abilities. These meteorites, they weren't actually meteorites, but crystals. Where they had come from was unknown and still being researched up till today. From the crystals came abilities that changed humanity forever. Those who could afford the crystals were fortuate enough to obtain strange powers from within. Fire, boulder, serpent, and many others. Many more years passed by, and more and more was being discovered about abilities and the crystals they came from. Everything seemed to be heading up after the phenomenon that nearly destroyed the Earth, but not everything was for the benefit of everyone. For many years, most were oblivious to the presence of abilities on Earth. It wasn't until an alien invasion occoured, that the information on abilities was made public. Strong ability users were needed to defend Earth against the Shales. The government, private and public corporations, and many others, they were all monetizing whatever crystals they could get their hands on, using it as a means of earning revenye from the populace. Those who were rich enough to purchase ability crystals could become ability users, while those who couldn't would simply remain as regular humans. Many rich families in the new world were able to obtain strong abilities for themselves and their children; the ones who would continue their lineage and glory once their parents are no more. In order to learn how to defend humanity from the invasion of the aliens, people from the ages of 16 were ordered to attend a military academy by the decree of the federal government of their respective countries. Failure to abide by this law was punishable by jail time. Kayden, a sixteen-year-old from a city known as Black Saber city. Having lost his parents at a very yoing age, he had to live with his single uncle and his cousin. Like many other teenagers his age, he desired to attend military school to learn how to fight against the Shales. However, being unable to afford an ability, his dreams of becoming powerful seemed like they would be crushed, but that all changed the day he had been given a system that allows him to unlock monsters by completing quests. On his path to evolve, he must face multiple challenges, complete quests and go on missions just to grow in strength. For in the current world, only the strong are regarded, while the weak are cast aside and forgotten. That was the general rule, the rule that governed everything that happened. From a crystal, came a power that changed his life. Now, he must do whatever it takes to save the people he loves and cares about. He must make sure that he doesn't loose the people he cares about once more.

Securing A Win

Standing in place, Kayla had yet to make another move on Kayden. Using this time as an opportunity, Kayden was thinking of a way he could turn the situation around, at least in a way that would allow him to improve from the fight.

"What are you waiting for? Come at me already!" Kayden yelled, without having a plan in mind. After countlessly thinking about all the possibilities, he decided to just wing it and see how the fight would turn out. At the end of the day, it wasn't really a serious fight or a fight to the death that he would have to worry about.

Despite what he had said, Kayla refused to move from her position, pretty much just staring at her hands in awe.

"This… I like this!" She yelled, charging at Kayden right after. Seeing this, he quickly turned to the side, allowing her to rush right into the wall, creating a loud bang as it collided with the hard surface.

'So powerful, yet so stupid. Now I know how Shawn felt when he went up against Patricia,' he thought, moving further back before Kayla would catch him off guard with a surprise attack.

The impact to the wall seemed to have done little to stop Kayla, as she quickly got back on to her feet and charged at him once again, swinging her hands in order to land a solid blow. Kayden was able to move quick enough to avoid a couple of them, but thanks to her speed and tenacity, most of her strikes had connected, causing the werewolf to howl in pain as his head swinging backwards from an uppercut, his back hitting the ground.

'This isn't looking good for me,' Kayden thought, as he was about to get back up, when he suddenly felt a hand grab hold of one if his legs, raising his body up in the air, before proceeding to slam him towards the ground repeatedly.

"Awwwwww!" He howled, his eyes squinted shut as blood poured out from his wounds. With his claws, he latched onto the floor, hoping his strength would win out against her. But of course, his delusions were just that, delusions.

She raised his body from the ground, swinging it downwards once again.

'I guess now I should just accept my fate and hope this beating ends eventually,' Kayden thought, as he closed his other eye that had yet to be damaged from the attacks.

[19,000 Mana points left]

'So much energy, yet there's barely anything I can do to change the course of this fight. Man, what's the point of all this training if I'm still gonna get beaten up by a girl?' Kayden thought. 'If it weren't for the Shales, I wouldn't even be here in the first place.'

Tossing his body up into the air, she lept up aw well, as with her leg drawn back, she swung it forward, kicking his body higher up in the air. Just as it was about to hit the wall, she had appeared right above him, delivering a downward kick that was meant to send his body to the ground.

However, appearing underneath him once again, she kicked his body back up, then would go on to repeat the same thing for a while.

"Hey, Josh, look!" One of the students walking down the hallway yelled, pointing at one of the students in the corner. "That's him! That's the student I was telling you about earlier!" Steve said, looking angry and enranged just by looking at that student's face.

Josh, who was on his way back to his dorm room, had turned his head, glancing at the student whom Steve was referring to. The student in particular looked terrified by the fact that these two were singling him out amongst the number of students in the hallway.

Nervous, he turned his head left and right, his eyes pleading for someone to come to his aid, but as his eyes met the others, they soon gave him space, noticing that one of the hugher-ranked students had his eyes on him.

Walking towards the student, Josh's gaze lingered on his nervous expression, before raising his right leg, and stomping down on the student's chest. Be did this repeatedly, striking the same spot, not caring about the shouting the student made, and just kept on striking the centre of the student's chest.

"You were the one who said you could beat me in a fight, yet here you are, not even capable of defending yourself. How pathetic," he said, grabbing the student by the scruff of his shirt, raising his body up, making sure they were now looking at each other eye to eye.

"How? How was someone like you able to survive all the harsh training we've gone through, but still ended up so weak?" He asked, his face really close to the other student. "Surely, a shrimp like you couldn't died sooner. What on Earth kept you doing. But most importantly, what's a weakling like you still doing in a place like this?"

Asking this question, he raised his other hand, firming a fist as he was about to punch the student across the face, but someone had grabbed his arm, catching him by surprise as he turned his head, wondering who on Earth was stupid enough to get in his way.

First, his eyes fell upon the rank displayed on their watch, abd once he had realized it wasn't someone above him in rank, whatever sense if uneasiness he was feeling had vanished. Then, his eyes moved up towards the face of the person who had chosen to interfere.

"Ah, it's you," Josh said, his voice revealing not a hint of fear. "Do you want to die before your time? Let go of me before I grant your wish," he threatened, as he activated his ability, forcing the student to let go of his wrist.

"Ken promised he would show me a nice technique if I serve as his protector for the rest of the day," Zain said, getting into a fighting stance. "Besides, once I realized that I would have to keep him safe from the likes of you, I couldn't help but jump at the opportunity of beating your sorry ass."

Hearing this, Josh could no longer contain his frustration, as he swiped his hand forward, creating a curved slash of flames that travelled in the air, missing Zain by a large margin as he ducked his head, allowing the attack to continue flying and hit the end of the hallway.

The other students present smhad stopped whatever it was they were doing and were now in a potential match taking place.

"Can you believe this? Josh is going up against Zain! Who do you guys think will win?"

"Are you dumb? It's obvious Josh will win! He has a higher rank and is just better skilled!"

"Are you sure? Josh might have a higher rank, but I think it's Zain that has the better skill."

The students kept on gossiping about what was about to happen. Meanwhile, Zain's focus was completely placed upon the person standing in front of him, and before Josh released another attack, he had activated his own ability, and began swiping the air with his hands left and right, creating visible attacks that quickly moved towards Josh.

"Hmm. Weak," Josh said, moving his body in all sorts of directions to avoid the strikes. However, Zain wasn't giving up as he kept on producing the attacks, and even moved closer as he kept his ability active. Closing the distance, it was getting harder for Josh to dodge, as there was now less time for him to take note of the attacks and prepare his body to move in a certain direction.

It wasn't long before one of the strikes had slashed his shoulder, drawing out blood.

"You bastard! I'll burn you to ashes!" He yelled, creating a thick line of flames that travelled towards Zain.

"Why are there so many crazy ability users in this school?" Zain thought, moving aside to avoid the flames.

Seeing as none of his long range attack were working, Josh decided to take the attack closer to his opponent. Covering his body in flames, though making sure that his uniform didn't get burnt, he rushed at Zain, ready to attack like he meant it.

"Ohh! Things are getting serious! Josh is finally taking this fight seriously!"

"And you were busy saying that Josh had better skills. Just look at him! He's been forced to take fighting a middle-ranked student seriously! Just imagine how embarrassing this must be for him right now."

Seeing him approaching, Zain began to remember what he had been taught during the combat classes.

'I'm not sure if I'm gonna get this right now, but I have to give it a try!" He yelled in his mind, as he waited for Josh to get close enough to him. 'This is quite a gamble, so I hope it works!'

"Take this!" Josh yelled, swinging his arm, hoping it would strike Zain on where he was aiming for. "This is for thinking that you ever had a shot at beating a guy like me!"

'Now!' Zain thought, as the palm of his hand pressed against his opponent's elbow, pushing it backwards while his other hand was gripping against the palm of the same hand. Then, with all the strength he could muster, he was able to push the have upward, facing the ceiling as a line of flames had gone out, going straight for the ceiling above.

'I'm not done!' then, Zain pushed the entire arm over his head, using the momentum of the attack to redirect the motion of his body. And now, instead of his body moving towards him, it was currently being sent crashing towards the ground.

"Now!" He yelled, as his ability made quick work of Josh, slashing him up as Zain held his body in place against the floor.
