Beast Driven System

The modern age of human society had undergone an evolution that changed it forever. Mana had arrived on Earth, and with it, came a meteor shower that threatened to reduce humanity to nothing but rubble and debris. Earth's governments were thrown into chaos because of this, and many military units were deployed to protect the masses from what they could only assume to be the end of the world. Using the most advanced arsenal possessed by the various world military governments, the adverse effects of the meteor shower had been controlled to an incredible degree, protecting most of Earth's inhabitants from utter annihilation. There were countries that were destroyed, leaderships and citizens wiped from the face of the Earth. Reconstruction had to be done to bring the demolished landscapes back to their former glory. It seemed like everything had gone back to normal, however, that was far from the case. Months after the meteor shower incident, world renouned scientists dedicated their time to studying these strange crystalline meteorites. Years later, and something ground breaking had been discovered-abilities. These meteorites, they weren't actually meteorites, but crystals. Where they had come from was unknown and still being researched up till today. From the crystals came abilities that changed humanity forever. Those who could afford the crystals were fortuate enough to obtain strange powers from within. Fire, boulder, serpent, and many others. Many more years passed by, and more and more was being discovered about abilities and the crystals they came from. Everything seemed to be heading up after the phenomenon that nearly destroyed the Earth, but not everything was for the benefit of everyone. For many years, most were oblivious to the presence of abilities on Earth. It wasn't until an alien invasion occoured, that the information on abilities was made public. Strong ability users were needed to defend Earth against the Shales. The government, private and public corporations, and many others, they were all monetizing whatever crystals they could get their hands on, using it as a means of earning revenye from the populace. Those who were rich enough to purchase ability crystals could become ability users, while those who couldn't would simply remain as regular humans. Many rich families in the new world were able to obtain strong abilities for themselves and their children; the ones who would continue their lineage and glory once their parents are no more. In order to learn how to defend humanity from the invasion of the aliens, people from the ages of 16 were ordered to attend a military academy by the decree of the federal government of their respective countries. Failure to abide by this law was punishable by jail time. Kayden, a sixteen-year-old from a city known as Black Saber city. Having lost his parents at a very yoing age, he had to live with his single uncle and his cousin. Like many other teenagers his age, he desired to attend military school to learn how to fight against the Shales. However, being unable to afford an ability, his dreams of becoming powerful seemed like they would be crushed, but that all changed the day he had been given a system that allows him to unlock monsters by completing quests. On his path to evolve, he must face multiple challenges, complete quests and go on missions just to grow in strength. For in the current world, only the strong are regarded, while the weak are cast aside and forgotten. That was the general rule, the rule that governed everything that happened. From a crystal, came a power that changed his life. Now, he must do whatever it takes to save the people he loves and cares about. He must make sure that he doesn't loose the people he cares about once more.

Pushing Limits

The fact that the instructors had decided to jam-pack all these teaching in one lessons was really bugging some students. They were interested in growing stronger so that they could challenge others for their rank. They were interested in the social benefits having a higher rate could give you. Everyone wanted to be treated nicely by their fellow students and be given respect.

They saw this class as their chance at making that dream a reality, but with the fact that not everyone showed interest in the class, there were those who were slowly creating tension in the class. A serious student may have paired up with an unserious partner who wouldn't allow them to train while refusing to train themselves. Meaning they were not only holding themselves back, but also holding back someone who wished to progress.

And seeing as no way was ready to switch up partners, they would have to bear with who they had ended up with, hoping that they would sooner or later start taking the class seriously. However, it seemed like a couple students were loosing their patience with their partner. It was either that or other students were bumping into them, causing them to loose balance, tripping and fall themselves as well.

The overall stress and students' clumsiness was was causing them to start calling each other names. Everyone was tired and still pushing themselves because of the instructors. No one needed additional burden from someone who had little to nothing to really offer them. While arguments began to break out, some students began throwing hands. Those who were still practicing had stopped to witness the chaos unfold. It didn't take long for the instructors to quickly act, taking down the students who were disrupting the class.

As punishment, they were ordered to spend three whole days practicing a rigorous training regime until they had learnt their lesson. Truely, it was just another way to help the students improve, the only difference is that the instructor who would be leading through this training course would be someone far more hardened than these three instructors. It would be someone who tolerated no form of disobedience or insubordination.

After these students were escorted out of the class, the other students focused their attention back on their partner to continue practicing the technique. Although the students who had offended the instructors by picking fights were being punished, there were still other students who had done the same thing. They ended up joining the offending students at the Arena to start serving their punishment.

Luckily, the student whom Kayden had chosen to spare with was someone who was just as interested in improving s he was. During practice, each student would take their turn practicing the technique while the other student would serve as a means of learning the technique. This form of training was a lot safer for hot-headed, impulsive teenagers who wanted to hurt each other most of the time since they could easily heal thanks to their abilities.

Finally, the rigorous class had come to an end. Nearly everyone was on the floor, drenched in sweat while breathing heavily. Everyone had exhausted most of their Mana from today's combat class. Of course, the instructors would ensure that the students wouldn't feel like the military academy was anything akin to a walk in the park. They were here to grow stronger through blood, sweat, and tears. Anything less is strictly prohibited.

Although everyone was tired and wanted to take a break, their schedule had other ideas as it was heavily prohibited for students to be late for any activity being held at the academy. No one wanted to incur the wrath of the instructors. Gathering whatever bit of strength they had left, they dragged their exhausted bodies across the hallway all the way to the abilities class.

Kayden was also exhausted from the previous class. Still, he knew what would happen if the instructor caught him distracted or dozing off during her teachings. He wasn't ready for another pin down that could potentially Rio his arm off. He did his best to shake off whatever tiredness was clouding his mind before the class had began. The instructor was already present and seemed more ready than ever to begin today's class.

"This is a new week, and so, things will start getting more difficult from here on out. Since you all have learn total concentration breathing, I will now be we will now further your training on to a higher level. For today, we will be heading towards the Arena, where you will be tested on how well you three would survive once it is time for the expedition course."

Kayden, Dan, and Markus were interested in seeing what she meant by this Following behind her, they made it to the large double doors leading to the Arena. Before entering, she went on to explain that this is where every student from the other abilities classes will be practicing on their wilderness survival skills. The instructors would assist the students in areas where they had failed or hadn't performed properly.

Once they had made it inside, she had ordered them to stay at the centre of the Arena, while she wakes off to a different part of the room. Not long after, the area around them began to change. What was once reinforced Galamite, was suddenly replaced by a bizzare purple vegetation that seemed to stretch as far as their eyes could see.

Looking up, they noticed that the high ceiling was replaced by a purple. Also, there were two moons instead of one. While they were gazing at the bizzare state of the sky, a loud roar was heard, causing the ground to shake. Startled, they turned her heads in different directions, searching for the source of the noise. It was then that their eyes fell upon a creature walking towards them.

Although this was all a simulation, the technicians had done quite a nice job in making the environment look as real as possible. They could even pick up on certain smells they had never encountered on Earth. As they gazed upon the creature, they could tell that they had never come across or even seen such a creature on television or the internet. Just from looking at it, and feeling the intense pressure it was emitting, they all knew what this was.

Outside the academy, people had only heard about such beasts from other planets. No one who hadn't gone through the academy had ever really seen one for themselves. They had only heard rumors about the creatures and how dangerous they can be. Now, seeing one for himself, Kayden's heart rate suddenly sped up.

Before any of them could react, the creature ran towards them. It was a being that resembled a dog, only that it had six legs instead of four. Also, its skin was completely black, and all that could be seen in its eyes was white. It stood over six feet tall on all six legs. Its roar was loud enough to cause the very ground to shake. A green goo could be seen dripping from its sharp canines as it continued to growl.

Kayden, along with Markus and Dan, decided to make a run for it. Perhaps they didn't have to do anything against this beast. Maybe they could just outrun it and end up hiding amongst the vegetation until it eventually passed them by. Knowing this was a simulation, it didn't mean that they couldn't feel everything that was around them. Thanks to the evolution of holographic technology, three dimensional, solid objects are able to be created, meaning that what was chasing them may not be a real beast, but can do nearly everything that a real beast can do.

Using his Inspect skill, he wanted to.find out information on this dog-like beast chasing them. If it was something close to his level, then perhaps they could take it on. That is, if they could not evade the beast amidst the trees and shrubs. Kayden read through whatever information the system provided on the beast before turning to face the other two.
