Beast Driven System

The modern age of human society had undergone an evolution that changed it forever. Mana had arrived on Earth, and with it, came a meteor shower that threatened to reduce humanity to nothing but rubble and debris. Earth's governments were thrown into chaos because of this, and many military units were deployed to protect the masses from what they could only assume to be the end of the world. Using the most advanced arsenal possessed by the various world military governments, the adverse effects of the meteor shower had been controlled to an incredible degree, protecting most of Earth's inhabitants from utter annihilation. There were countries that were destroyed, leaderships and citizens wiped from the face of the Earth. Reconstruction had to be done to bring the demolished landscapes back to their former glory. It seemed like everything had gone back to normal, however, that was far from the case. Months after the meteor shower incident, world renouned scientists dedicated their time to studying these strange crystalline meteorites. Years later, and something ground breaking had been discovered-abilities. These meteorites, they weren't actually meteorites, but crystals. Where they had come from was unknown and still being researched up till today. From the crystals came abilities that changed humanity forever. Those who could afford the crystals were fortuate enough to obtain strange powers from within. Fire, boulder, serpent, and many others. Many more years passed by, and more and more was being discovered about abilities and the crystals they came from. Everything seemed to be heading up after the phenomenon that nearly destroyed the Earth, but not everything was for the benefit of everyone. For many years, most were oblivious to the presence of abilities on Earth. It wasn't until an alien invasion occoured, that the information on abilities was made public. Strong ability users were needed to defend Earth against the Shales. The government, private and public corporations, and many others, they were all monetizing whatever crystals they could get their hands on, using it as a means of earning revenye from the populace. Those who were rich enough to purchase ability crystals could become ability users, while those who couldn't would simply remain as regular humans. Many rich families in the new world were able to obtain strong abilities for themselves and their children; the ones who would continue their lineage and glory once their parents are no more. In order to learn how to defend humanity from the invasion of the aliens, people from the ages of 16 were ordered to attend a military academy by the decree of the federal government of their respective countries. Failure to abide by this law was punishable by jail time. Kayden, a sixteen-year-old from a city known as Black Saber city. Having lost his parents at a very yoing age, he had to live with his single uncle and his cousin. Like many other teenagers his age, he desired to attend military school to learn how to fight against the Shales. However, being unable to afford an ability, his dreams of becoming powerful seemed like they would be crushed, but that all changed the day he had been given a system that allows him to unlock monsters by completing quests. On his path to evolve, he must face multiple challenges, complete quests and go on missions just to grow in strength. For in the current world, only the strong are regarded, while the weak are cast aside and forgotten. That was the general rule, the rule that governed everything that happened. From a crystal, came a power that changed his life. Now, he must do whatever it takes to save the people he loves and cares about. He must make sure that he doesn't loose the people he cares about once more.

Private Matter

Back in the academy, everyone was doing the best they could to get ready for the potential future. Once the last class for the day had come to an end, everyone had decided to head back to their dorm rooms to call it a day. Though there were a few who would still hang around the hallways or would head out towards the canteen to spend their money on snacks.

They were pretty much allowed to do whatever they wished, as long as they would make it back to their respective rooms before the time for curfew. Instead of heading back to his room immediately, Kayden decided to head over to the infirmary to check up on Paul's condition.

Concerned that he had yet to wake up, there wasn't really much he could do about that since he wasn't sure what was even wrong with him in the first place.

Seeing as there wasn't much he could do, he decided that he would just head back to his room for the rest of the day, however, on his way there, he was stopped by Kayla, who told him that she needed his help with something important.

"What is it this time?" He asked, impatience clear as day in the tone of his voice. Seeing her here, all he could think of was that she wanted him to assist her in 'interrogating' some more students. Remembering the way she had acted before, and even to one of his old friends, he wasn't sure if he could go along with this plan of hers anymore.

But it wasn't like he had a choice in the matter, anyway.

"I need your help with something important, and I would really appreciate it if you would change that tone," Kayla said, glaring at him. "The least you can do is show me some respect. I deserve that at least for being your superior," she slapped him across the face, catching Kayden off guard as his head swung towards the side.

"Didn't I warn you last time, that if you disrespect me again, that I would make you pay? What I have just given you now is a small taste of your punishment. I will deliver the rest once you start helping me with what I need," she said, turning her back on him as she began to walk through the hallway.

'What's your fucking problem?!' Kayden cursed internally, as he followed closely behind her. As the two continued their journey to wherever it was they were heading to, neither one of them had said a word to the other. At the end of the day, these two weren't friends. It was simply one student using her rank and status to bully another to help do her bidding.

After walking for a while, they had arrived in front of the large double doors, leading into the large arena area.

"What are we doing here?" Kayden asked, folding his arms. He hoped something like this wouldn't be enough for her to believe that he was showing her attitude or being disrespectful. This was simply his way of coping with the stress of things.

"Sigh… remember yesterday, when I had somehow managed to tap into that Mana aura technique?* She asked, turning her head to face him with a condescending look on her face.

"Yeah, everyone was there. What about it?"

"Well, I was hoping if you would help me tap into that form once again. You see, ever classes for today had come to an end, I was hoping if you could help me bring out everything the form is capable of. I want to keep on improving on myself with every opportunity I get!" She declared, gripping her fist tightly.

'This girl… she just unlocked that form today, and she's already eager to master it? I guess what the other students say about her is true. She really is a monster,' Kayden thought, before snapping back to reality the next second.

"It's not like I have a choice in the matter. Even if you go all out and beat me to a pulp, there isn't really much I can do about it, other than just wait for my wounds to heal or from the nurse at the infirmary to heal my injuries herself.

"Still, as much as I hate this plan, I would like to see how far I can improve myself," the reason why Kayden was saying this was because his current Mana holding capacity was at 26000 thanks to all the training he had been doing at the academy. Also, a large factor which contributed to his Mana holding capacity increasing like so were three techniques in particular.

One of them was total concentration breathing, which allows him to pretty much control the way he breathes during tense situations, allowing him to minimize his energy usage and allow him more power to use in combat.

Another technique he had learnt so far was Mana control, which allows him to control the flow of his Mana around his body at will. Normally, when he transform into his werewolf state, the energy in his body would typically move on their own.

But now, with Mana control, be is able to actively influence the Mana flow in his body. And with this, he was already starting to think how it could be useful to him in the future.

Like during the inter-student competition, when he was being forced back by that second year student with a lava ability, he had to transform both his hands into werewolf claws, allowing him to latch onto the wall of the area and wait until the ten-second timer had come to an end.

All of that was thanks to his Mana control, which allowed him to use minimal energy to win the match.

Then, there's the current technique he's focusing most of his attention to learn, the one that their instructor Lucas had introduced to them just today. He wasn't really in a rush to fully pick up on the technique, as he still had a lot of time before there was a need to do it now.

He was hoping that he would have a chance later on to ask Shawn what he had been doing all this time, whenever he wasn't in any of the classes or in their dorm room. Although he would typically prefer to respect people's privacy, the curiosity at this point was killing him and he really wanted to know.

But now, stopped midway to his dorm room, he had no other choice than to follow her towards the arena to help her train how to use her new power.

In a separate room in the arena, Mike could suddenly feel the grip around his neck loosening, though the ferocious look on both their faces we're still clear as day. It was obvious that they were enraged by the news of their only son going rogue and was now being detained by the academy. But what was worse was the fact that they hadn't already done anything to solve the matter.

They were two of the most important individuals of the Been family, which was one of the most influential families in the world. Though they weren't one of the world leaders, the power they held was comparable to theirs, and Mike knew well enough to know that they wouldn't let this matter concerning their son slide so easily.

"Mark my words! You and this entire school will pay for what you have done to my boy!" The man yelled, before him and his wife stormed out of the room in anger.

"Mum? Dad?" These were the words that had left her lips, as her eyes fell upon the two people who had raised her ever since she was just an infant. The people who had given her everything she had ever wanted in this world, were now standing right in front of her, with angry looks on her faces.

Reading the situation, she remembered that her brother was being detained in the first year building, and seeing where they had both come from, she immediately realized why they were here.

As much as she wanted to walk over and talk to them, she knew that now wasn't the time for that, as they looked far too angry and stressed for a normal conversation. So she decided to step out of their way as they left the arena in a hurry.

"Those… were your parents, right?" Kayden asked, but the next second, he felt an overwhelming pain in the centre of his abdomen, causing his body to hunch forward from the impact, his mouth and eyes wide open from the blow. His eyes then trained towards her face, while held no expression as she didn't even bother looking down at him.

"Don't poke your silly nose into my family's business," she said, before using that same arm to elbow him in the middle of his back, forcing his entire body to hit the ground with force.
