Beast Driven System

The modern age of human society had undergone an evolution that changed it forever. Mana had arrived on Earth, and with it, came a meteor shower that threatened to reduce humanity to nothing but rubble and debris. Earth's governments were thrown into chaos because of this, and many military units were deployed to protect the masses from what they could only assume to be the end of the world. Using the most advanced arsenal possessed by the various world military governments, the adverse effects of the meteor shower had been controlled to an incredible degree, protecting most of Earth's inhabitants from utter annihilation. There were countries that were destroyed, leaderships and citizens wiped from the face of the Earth. Reconstruction had to be done to bring the demolished landscapes back to their former glory. It seemed like everything had gone back to normal, however, that was far from the case. Months after the meteor shower incident, world renouned scientists dedicated their time to studying these strange crystalline meteorites. Years later, and something ground breaking had been discovered-abilities. These meteorites, they weren't actually meteorites, but crystals. Where they had come from was unknown and still being researched up till today. From the crystals came abilities that changed humanity forever. Those who could afford the crystals were fortuate enough to obtain strange powers from within. Fire, boulder, serpent, and many others. Many more years passed by, and more and more was being discovered about abilities and the crystals they came from. Everything seemed to be heading up after the phenomenon that nearly destroyed the Earth, but not everything was for the benefit of everyone. For many years, most were oblivious to the presence of abilities on Earth. It wasn't until an alien invasion occoured, that the information on abilities was made public. Strong ability users were needed to defend Earth against the Shales. The government, private and public corporations, and many others, they were all monetizing whatever crystals they could get their hands on, using it as a means of earning revenye from the populace. Those who were rich enough to purchase ability crystals could become ability users, while those who couldn't would simply remain as regular humans. Many rich families in the new world were able to obtain strong abilities for themselves and their children; the ones who would continue their lineage and glory once their parents are no more. In order to learn how to defend humanity from the invasion of the aliens, people from the ages of 16 were ordered to attend a military academy by the decree of the federal government of their respective countries. Failure to abide by this law was punishable by jail time. Kayden, a sixteen-year-old from a city known as Black Saber city. Having lost his parents at a very yoing age, he had to live with his single uncle and his cousin. Like many other teenagers his age, he desired to attend military school to learn how to fight against the Shales. However, being unable to afford an ability, his dreams of becoming powerful seemed like they would be crushed, but that all changed the day he had been given a system that allows him to unlock monsters by completing quests. On his path to evolve, he must face multiple challenges, complete quests and go on missions just to grow in strength. For in the current world, only the strong are regarded, while the weak are cast aside and forgotten. That was the general rule, the rule that governed everything that happened. From a crystal, came a power that changed his life. Now, he must do whatever it takes to save the people he loves and cares about. He must make sure that he doesn't loose the people he cares about once more.

Outmatched

Kayden made sure to take full advantage of the injury he had inflicted to further deliver a flurry of kicks and punches to both the stomach and the gut. The female student coughed out blood as her body arched forward, her eyes wide open due to the severe agony she was experiencing. Not wanting to further her punishment, he grabbed her by the throat, before tossing her battered body aside and focusing on another student charging towards him.

This student had a Fire Class ability, one that allowed him to create lightning, although she seemed more in control of her ability, unlike the other people Kayden had seen in the past using such an ability. It was rumoured to be the strongest Fire Class ability, so Kayden braced himself before dodging a strike which was quickly sent from the palm of his new opponent.

"You won't steal this opportunity from me!" she yelled, her eyes wide like a madman as she quickly blitzed towards Kayden, using her lightning to speed up her movements. Kayden was barely able to keep up with her, however, he wasn't ready to loose to someone who wasn't even close to his rank to begin with.

Remembering the ring he wore on his finger, he waited until the student was close enough, before teleporting behind her. Quickly, not giving her a chance to react, he stabbed his claws into her backside, causing her to scream from pain. The wound began to bleed profusely, and it wasn't long until she eventually passed out.

"And that makes two," Kayden said. His eyes briefly met with those of Henry. For a moment, he was unable to look away. The latter was glaring at him with intensity. Kayden's mind momentarily wondered to a scenario of the two of them fighting. However, with his feet suddenly frozen his place, he realized soon enough that he had to keep his head on the current fighting taking place as another student with an Ice ability had just attacked him while he was distracted.

Forming a dagger out of ice, the student ran towards him, ready to finish him off. Luckily, Kayden's strength allowed him to break free, while delivering a kick to the sacred area. The student's knees buckled from the impact. He couldn't bare the pain that Kayden had just inflicted on his precious jewels. Grabbing the student by the head, he drew him forward, headbutting him so hard that he could hear a cracking noise before tossing the unconscious body aside.

The instructors were well away from all this fighting. In the end, this was all part of their plan for the students. Not long after, and the number of students left standing had slowly dwindled down to the desired number. Seeing as the students had stopped fighting each other, the instructors then walked forward to continue with the class with the remaining students.

The result of the fight had led to Carter, Blake, Dan, Marcus, Madison, Josh, Steve, and others being Knocked out and severely injured from their fights. Although both Marcus and Dan had improved from the prior class, this experience would remind them that they still had a long way to go until they were strong enough to stand up to the other students.

Meanwhile, students such as Shawn, Paul, Kayden, Hilda, and even Zain, had managed to push through and made it into the remaining fifty students left standing. Seeing this, Kayden felt proud of him. Although he couldn't say it to his face since there still weren't on talking terms, he was happy that the latter was managing himself quite well.

The remaining students then paired themselves in groups of five, each would be sparring against a single second year student. In one group, there was Kayden, Zain, Hilda, Paul, and Shawn. The student they would be fighting against was a girl with straight black hair with the from parts dyed purple. She was the student who was worried when Henry was about to do something against the first year student.

Shawn and Paul had a quick talk with Kayden before the match was to begin. While Kayden had his Ring Of Teleportation, Shawn had a samurai sword while Paul wore gautlets. Zain wielded twin daggers while Hilda had a sword with a red ruby placed at the centre of the hilt.

Once everyone had formed groups and stood before their opponents, the instructors then announced the start of the match, and everyone quickly sprung into action. The second year students had come with their weapons as well. Taking out her sword, she was ready to defeat these students before the others.

Using his Inspect skill, Kayden could tell that this sword of hers had the power to absorb attacks, while producing twice the attack in retaliation. Reading this, Kayden made a mental note to avoid striking the sword and instead was thinking of a way to harm the student directly. While he was thinking this, the others were busy doing what he was trying not to do, as all their attacks wee blocked by the sword. Seeing how well she was handling her weapon, Kayden knew that she was quite skilled in swordsmanship.

But, he needed to find a way to get her weapon away from her, then, he would be able to deal with her since she wasn't allowed to use her ability for the purpose of the lesson. While the others were attacking from the front, Kayden had used their bodies to hide what it was that he was doing.

Using the ring's power once more, he had teleported right behind the second year student. He was about to deliver a blow when she suddenly turned around. And with a speed that he could barely keep up with, she slashed down at his hands, nearly slicing them off. The attack had only stopped once the sword was halfway through his bones, before pulling it out and stopping the attacks which were coming from the front.

Kayden wanted to use the element of surprise to finally deal a decisive blow to this student. However, he didn't consider the fact that she would be naturally faster than he expected. She was a second year student, after all. And there was a reason why these were all five on one fights. The instructors were confident that the second years could easily deal with the first years, while also giving them the opportunity to become more polished in the use of their magical weapons.

Wanting to end this match soon, as well, the student dashed forward. Meeting Shawn as he was midair, she slashed his chest with the sword, before kicking his body towards the floor. His body made impact with a loud bang, causing him to scream in pain. Seeing their very own Titan two in such a state, the other students' morale quickly began to dwindle. How could they stand a chance against these second years if someone like Shawn can be defeated so easily.

Quickly moving onto to her next target, she grabbed Zain by the neck, stabbing his stomach with the sword before throwing his body into the wall. Hitting the hard surface with force, his body then fell towards the ground, as a pool of blood suddenly formed around him.

Then, she went for Paul. His ability couldn't help much in his current situation since he knew exactly where she was and where she was heading to next. Plus, being far weaker, there was nothing he could do as his body was severely beaten and tossed aside as well. Hilda, seeing how easily the others had been dealt with, just stood where she was, frozen in fear. She didn't know when or shaking hands had let her weapon fall on to the floor. Along with the clanking sound of metal, what followed were her agonizing screams as she soon list consciousness.

'This... bitch!' Kayden growled, getting back up to his feet. His hands had both healed thanks his Mana, meaning he was back in the fight. Although the others still had a lot of Mana to use in the fight, it seemed as though this second year student had managed to break their resolve to keep on fighting after taking them all out without much effort.

Seeing the bodies of Zain, Shawn, and Paul on the floor, Kayden suddenly felt an overwhelming feeling come over him. He began to growl. His eyes grew wide in rage, and snap, he had lost all sense if control. Releasing a howl, he glared at the female student, who seemed less than intimidated than him before charging before her.

He lept towards her, but just like before, she managed to dodge his attempts at attacking her. Irritated, she quickly went behind him before stabbing him in the back a well. However, it seemed like this wasn't going to be enough to take him out. Both of Kayden's hands grasped the weapon which had managed to piece his abdomen. Using his strength, he managed to snap the top part of the weapon, shocking the female student.

'He... He broke it?!' she yelled internally, overcome by rage as she pulled it out, before turning his body around and slashing with the broken sword against his chest before he could do anything else. Howling in pain, Kayden then slashed at the student's face, drawing out blood. But not just that, the other second years were surprised to see this, as it was the first time that a first year student had ever injured a second year student in years.
