Beast Driven System

The modern age of human society had undergone an evolution that changed it forever. Mana had arrived on Earth, and with it, came a meteor shower that threatened to reduce humanity to nothing but rubble and debris. Earth's governments were thrown into chaos because of this, and many military units were deployed to protect the masses from what they could only assume to be the end of the world. Using the most advanced arsenal possessed by the various world military governments, the adverse effects of the meteor shower had been controlled to an incredible degree, protecting most of Earth's inhabitants from utter annihilation. There were countries that were destroyed, leaderships and citizens wiped from the face of the Earth. Reconstruction had to be done to bring the demolished landscapes back to their former glory. It seemed like everything had gone back to normal, however, that was far from the case. Months after the meteor shower incident, world renouned scientists dedicated their time to studying these strange crystalline meteorites. Years later, and something ground breaking had been discovered-abilities. These meteorites, they weren't actually meteorites, but crystals. Where they had come from was unknown and still being researched up till today. From the crystals came abilities that changed humanity forever. Those who could afford the crystals were fortuate enough to obtain strange powers from within. Fire, boulder, serpent, and many others. Many more years passed by, and more and more was being discovered about abilities and the crystals they came from. Everything seemed to be heading up after the phenomenon that nearly destroyed the Earth, but not everything was for the benefit of everyone. For many years, most were oblivious to the presence of abilities on Earth. It wasn't until an alien invasion occoured, that the information on abilities was made public. Strong ability users were needed to defend Earth against the Shales. The government, private and public corporations, and many others, they were all monetizing whatever crystals they could get their hands on, using it as a means of earning revenye from the populace. Those who were rich enough to purchase ability crystals could become ability users, while those who couldn't would simply remain as regular humans. Many rich families in the new world were able to obtain strong abilities for themselves and their children; the ones who would continue their lineage and glory once their parents are no more. In order to learn how to defend humanity from the invasion of the aliens, people from the ages of 16 were ordered to attend a military academy by the decree of the federal government of their respective countries. Failure to abide by this law was punishable by jail time. Kayden, a sixteen-year-old from a city known as Black Saber city. Having lost his parents at a very yoing age, he had to live with his single uncle and his cousin. Like many other teenagers his age, he desired to attend military school to learn how to fight against the Shales. However, being unable to afford an ability, his dreams of becoming powerful seemed like they would be crushed, but that all changed the day he had been given a system that allows him to unlock monsters by completing quests. On his path to evolve, he must face multiple challenges, complete quests and go on missions just to grow in strength. For in the current world, only the strong are regarded, while the weak are cast aside and forgotten. That was the general rule, the rule that governed everything that happened. From a crystal, came a power that changed his life. Now, he must do whatever it takes to save the people he loves and cares about. He must make sure that he doesn't loose the people he cares about once more.

Kayden's Power

Kayden knew he needed to grow stronger, but more than that, he desired strength.Coming from an average family that can barely afford to live a fancy life, he hadn't acuired his ability by conventional means. Meaning that he hadn't obtained it with money or other sought-after valuables. No, he had discovered this ability by mistake. Still, he was glad because of it.

He knew that his uncle could never afford to get him an ability, not yo mention one that was of the Mystery Class. If he couldn't even get his own daughter an ability, then what could he have done for Kayden.

The use of his ability had saved his cousin's life, and it was bound to safe him in the future as well. Kayden knew a lot about different kinds of abilities. Up until he had gotten his, he never knew about one that granted the user the power of transformation. Still, even though his power was rare, he knew that he was still no match for the students who coveted his rank.

The fact that they weren't present for magical weapons class didn't make matters any easier for him. Although he could've just told his friends what was happening to him, he didn't want them to feel sorry for him or focus too much on him instead of their own progress at the academy. His problems were his own to deal with. Fortunately, his ability could help with that.

You see, along with this rare ability, the source from which it came from had given him something quite social.

This is his special power, an advanced system capable of granting him power beyond his wildest imagination. However, such power wouldn't just come for free.

'Ever since I had gotten this system, it hasn't given me a single quest.'

Kayden began to think back to the day he had gotten the system.

___________

It was rainy that day. He was on his way back from school when he saw a glowing, mystifying light coming from behind an alley. At first, he thought it was some Shales trying to cast their magic. Scared, he thought it'd be best to run away so they wouldn't spot him. But, for some reason, he was curious as to what might really be going on.

As his curiusity got the better of him, it overcame his fear, forcing him to peek through to see what it was that was producing that orange light. There weren't any Shales. But, he did find something else. Covered I dirt, but not completely, was a piece of glowing crystal.

It was no ordinary illuminated crystal, as it was that which abilities found their way to Earth in the first place. It was the source of everyone's abilities on Earth. Seeing as it was isolated with no one around, thoughts began rummaging his mind.

He began to remember how much he would be bullied at school for being weak. And although his friends always stook beside him despite his weakness, he wanted to be able to stand up for himself on his own. He wanted a strength that he could call his own.

Overcome by this desire, he dug out the crystal and did what any desperate soul would do in his place. Not having an ability, he knew of how people drew the power from a crystal. It was a process that require deep focus to achieve. It was similar to how one activates their ability or even a magical weapon.

Not long after he began to focus, he could feel a red energy coursing through his veins. The process was painful. He bore through it all, putting all his hope on the potential end results. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity he couldn't afford to give up no matter what.

It felt like he was being stung by a thousand scorpions while being bathed in concentrated acid. The process gave him a pain one could only find in the pits of hell. Of course, for one to aquire an ability, they must go through such pain. Kayden didn't even care what ability class he would get. He just wanted to have an ability so he would no longer be weak. Little did he know then that he had struck diamond.

The process lasted for only a few minutes, it felt like an eternity of peak torture and suffering. Once the extraction process finally came to an end, Kayden let go of the crystal on his hands, allowing it to hit the concrete ground and shatter into a multitude of pieces. He had just gotten his ability, and he felt stronger than ever.

His senses had drastically improved, and he felt overall refresh and even reborn in a sense. This event took place not longer than three months ago, and Kayden would forever remember it. The day he stop being weak and pathetic. What he had received that day wasn't just any random ability.

[Congratulations, Host]

[You have obtained a mystery class ability]

[Additionally, you have obtained a system to better understand and grow your ability as well]

[Activating the system now]

[Beast Driven has been activated]

Kayden was far too confused as to what the heck was going on.

__________

'I didn't really used my ability much after that. Although there were people who still bullied me back in high school. 'I made sure I put them in their place as soon as I felt like I was strong enough. Heck, the people who bullied me back then are no where near as strong as the students in this school so it was easy for me to get back at them. The time I really he to use this ability was after Stacy was kidnapped.

'Having to result to underground fighting as a means to generate enough money to pay her ransom. Although I'm glad about one thing. The people who enter that underground fighting club are allowed to wear masks to hide their true identities.

'I wasn't about to let a bunch of gamblers and even kidnappers to know who I really am. That way, they could use their connections and dig up way too much information about me. Who I am. Where I live. The school I attend.

'Plus, they had seen Stacy's face so they can easily do the same thing to her and ended up finding out about me if they wanted to. Ijust hope that guy has truely lost interest in me and my family,' Kayden thought to himself.

The fact that those two students hadn't made it to magical weapons class was quite concerning, still, he couldn't waste his time thinking about them if they weren't going to make a move on him anymore. According to the system, Kayden needed to complete Quests to grow stronger. Since the day he had gotten this system, it hadn't given him a single quest.

There were other ways to add to his strength, such as the Intermediate Grade Ring from the magical weapons class, the total concentration breathing technique he had learnt from the abilities class, and even the Ikkyo technique he was still learning from the combat class. Kayden had so many areas to improve on that he wasn't too concerned about not receiving a quest so far.

'Perhaps it has to do with the challenges I face. Maybe, so far, I haven't really faced anything that the system consider challenging.' Kayden could disagree with that. He could think of a number of times ever since getting the system that his life had been on the line.

Other that that, the other two students in the Mystery Class division seemed to be keeping on with their instructor on a somewhat underdog level. Neither of them were showing the same level of growth as himself. He could tell that they were gradually getting stronger.

On his way back to his dorm room, he could hear the sound of students chatting with each other. Wanting to just walk past them, it wasn't until he heard what they were talking about that made him stop in place.

"Hey, guys. Did you hear? Apparently, some students beat up Steve and Josh before they could attack Kayden. They're currently in the infirmary receiving medical treatment."

"So does this mean that we have a new Titan five?"

"That's what he just said, you idiot!"

Kayden was shocked to hear that the people who were after him, had been dealt with by those who were targeting them as well.

'Sigh... the food chain,' Kayden thought, before continuing to walk back to his dorm room.
