Beast Driven System

The modern age of human society had undergone an evolution that changed it forever. Mana had arrived on Earth, and with it, came a meteor shower that threatened to reduce humanity to nothing but rubble and debris. Earth's governments were thrown into chaos because of this, and many military units were deployed to protect the masses from what they could only assume to be the end of the world. Using the most advanced arsenal possessed by the various world military governments, the adverse effects of the meteor shower had been controlled to an incredible degree, protecting most of Earth's inhabitants from utter annihilation. There were countries that were destroyed, leaderships and citizens wiped from the face of the Earth. Reconstruction had to be done to bring the demolished landscapes back to their former glory. It seemed like everything had gone back to normal, however, that was far from the case. Months after the meteor shower incident, world renouned scientists dedicated their time to studying these strange crystalline meteorites. Years later, and something ground breaking had been discovered-abilities. These meteorites, they weren't actually meteorites, but crystals. Where they had come from was unknown and still being researched up till today. From the crystals came abilities that changed humanity forever. Those who could afford the crystals were fortuate enough to obtain strange powers from within. Fire, boulder, serpent, and many others. Many more years passed by, and more and more was being discovered about abilities and the crystals they came from. Everything seemed to be heading up after the phenomenon that nearly destroyed the Earth, but not everything was for the benefit of everyone. For many years, most were oblivious to the presence of abilities on Earth. It wasn't until an alien invasion occoured, that the information on abilities was made public. Strong ability users were needed to defend Earth against the Shales. The government, private and public corporations, and many others, they were all monetizing whatever crystals they could get their hands on, using it as a means of earning revenye from the populace. Those who were rich enough to purchase ability crystals could become ability users, while those who couldn't would simply remain as regular humans. Many rich families in the new world were able to obtain strong abilities for themselves and their children; the ones who would continue their lineage and glory once their parents are no more. In order to learn how to defend humanity from the invasion of the aliens, people from the ages of 16 were ordered to attend a military academy by the decree of the federal government of their respective countries. Failure to abide by this law was punishable by jail time. Kayden, a sixteen-year-old from a city known as Black Saber city. Having lost his parents at a very yoing age, he had to live with his single uncle and his cousin. Like many other teenagers his age, he desired to attend military school to learn how to fight against the Shales. However, being unable to afford an ability, his dreams of becoming powerful seemed like they would be crushed, but that all changed the day he had been given a system that allows him to unlock monsters by completing quests. On his path to evolve, he must face multiple challenges, complete quests and go on missions just to grow in strength. For in the current world, only the strong are regarded, while the weak are cast aside and forgotten. That was the general rule, the rule that governed everything that happened. From a crystal, came a power that changed his life. Now, he must do whatever it takes to save the people he loves and cares about. He must make sure that he doesn't loose the people he cares about once more.

Higher-ups Defend

The Shales are an alien race that had invaded the Earth not too long ago, seemingly with the desire to enslave all of humanity, and while the humans had done their very best to defend against them, it wasn't long until both sides had managed to come to some sort of truce. A peace treaty had been signed by both races, stating that neither race would interfere with the affairs of the other, and that any breaches of this contract would result in dire consequences.

Now, seeing as a Shale had broken into the academy, raining terror upon the students, the high-ups knew that they would have to done something about it, and soon, before some of the students got hurt.

Of course, the staff at the academy weren't weak by any means. Including the nurse, the military officer in charge of dispersing punishment among the students, and the instructors, they were confident in their abilities in dealing with the current threat.

'As long as this is just a stage one, then I believe that the ten of us will be enough,' one of the instructors thought to himself, glancing left and right. Everyone else looked ready for combat, already charging their abilities in their hands. Those present had different kinds of abilities, including the man from the mystery class division, who had a mystery class ability himself.

The Shale looked out of control and rogue, acting as though it was nothing but a mere beast. It wasn't common to see one of them act this way. Still, it did mean one thing-that they couldn't afford to put the safety of the students at risk, even if it meant potentially causing trouble with the Shales.

Immediately, one of the instructors had ran forward, shooting out a large vortex of flames at the alien. His flames were a lot more hot and condensed, almost as though he was producing lava and not flames. As the attack hit the creature, it screamed out in pain, slashing its tails in every direction. As the tail moved and striked the floor, it would produce a loud whipping noise. Everyone present knew to stay well away from its tail.

Next, moving in, was an instructor with a serpent class ability. With it, he was able to form weapons out of his poison. He had formed over a dozen swords make of poison mid-air, and quickly sent them flying towards the Shale, impailing its body in all sorts of places, causing the creature to squeal out in pain even more.

"Quickly! Let's kill it before it uses its magic!" the man yelled, creating more poison swords with his ability.

Next, the man with the mystery class ability had moved it. He is the person who is substituting for the other woman while she had been sent away to Black Saber city by their superiors to deal with some important issues at the city. Meanwhile, he had been the one in charge of training the first year students with Mystery class abilities, and now, he was about to show what his own ability was capable of.

Instead of producing an attack, like the others, he had decided to go in and deliver a hut to the creature. He would repeat this process over and over again. However, what the others soon began to notice was that his movements were gradually getting faster, while the creat itself was getting slower. It seemed like with each strike, he would steal power from the Shale, adding it to his own. In certain cases, the energy transfer would be temporary, however, in other cases, the power he would steal would stay with him forever. That is the power of his mystery class ability-Mana Drain.

He continued with this process, until the creature was brought down to its knees, breathing heavily as its chest would constantly move up and down. It seemed as though the threat was about to be eliminated, as the man ran back in to deliver another attack, moving faster than he had ever moved so far.

"Wait!" one of the instructors shouted, noticing something strange from the Shale. However, it was already too late, as Lucas was already too close to the alien, and before he himself could tell just what was going on, a bright flash of blue aura had erupted from the creature's chest, and falling towards the floor, was a small, black-coloured pebble.

The creature quickly rose to its feet, barring its teeth as it quickly caught Lucas before he could deliver a strike, grasping his neck tightly, attempting to pop his head off with force. Seeing this, how he had been easily caught by surprise, a sense of dread had overcame him, he was struggling to move his body, as his heart rate had rapidly increased, and his adrenaline level had risen rapidly as sweat dripped down his face profusely as he struggled to breathe.

Before the others could even begin to react, the creature had waved its other hand in the air, and everyone present could suddenly feel the gravity of the room increased immensely. They were finding it hard to move, as the creature had casted a spell. No one could get their bodies off the floor. Meanwhile, those still at the VIP area were thinking of how they would help out, seeing as the academy's staff weren't faring well against the Shale.

In the end, these weren't the only staff the academy had, as there were others who were around who were also doing the best they could to keep everyone safe. For one, one of the staff, who had a tracker class ability, had been assigned to teleport all of the students in the waiting room, and also those who were exposed in the Arena, to safety while the fight between the other staff and the Shale was on going. So far, most of the students had been taken to safety. However, a few of them were still left, as the Shale had cast its spell, affecting the gravity of everything in the lower part of the Arena. The Shale was unaware of the people above, so he didn't make his ability affect that area as well.

This just gave the VIP guests a golden opportunity to help out in defeating the Shale. Of course, amongst the people present, most of them were not weak by any means. A lot of them were strong enough to hold their own in serious fights. But, seeing who their opponent was going to be, they knew that they would have to work together if they wished to have any shit at winning today.

Somewhere in the academy, in a safer area, most of the students had been teleported and told to remain calm and be patient, that the threat would be eliminated soon enough. Although the man himself wasn't quite sure about that, as he had heard stories when he was little about how powerful and dangerous a single Shale could be. And if this creature was anything about the first grade, then there was a good chance that none of them would survive today.

Kayden couldn't bring himself to ignore the overwhelming urge that kept on trying to overcome his senses. It was as though something was bitting at him to go out there and do battle with the Shale. He was starting to think that it had something to do with his werewolf instincts. But still, how were those instincts related to an alien?

He then remembered what Kayla had told him back then, about how there was a major conspiracy going on at the academy. Perhaps everything that was going on so far was connected, and some way, it was all related to him. But a Shale? How on Earth do they relate to everything that's going on at the academy currently?

Back at the Arena, the VIP guests were considering helping out against fighting the Shale. A lot of them were quite powerful, so they felt like they would be enough to help take out the creature. Gathering aura in his hands, the old man who was speaking before, shot out an attack from above. He had a fire class ability, one that granted him the power of lightning, and with it, he had aimed from above, hoping that the force of the attack would at least be able to sting the creature.

Meanwhile, the others had charged their attacks and shot them down at the Shale. Combining their attacks, the creature could be seen being overcome by the multiple attacks, to the point that it had to cancel the spell if had casted on the people below, allowing them to move as normal. Immediately, they had charged attacks of their own, sending them at the Shale. With so many people attacking the creature at once, it wasn't long until its body had collapsed against the ground, before erupting in a large explosion.

The threat had been eliminated.
