"Wait, Daniel Russo asked you out on a lunch date?" Nina, my second housemate, exclaimed in disbelief. I immediately regretted bringing up the topic.

I had decided to share with them what had transpired between Daniel and me yesterday because I was feeling confused about the situation and needed their opinions. Initially, I had only discussed it with Nelly until Nina returned earlier today.

Nina, Nelly, and I lived together, but Nina had been away on a trip for a few weeks, and Nelly wasted no time filling her in on everything that had occurred in her absence.

"Well, he did, but not exactly as Nelly must have portrayed it to you. He simply mentioned having a lunch date after he returns from his trip," I clarified, and Nelly scoffed dismissively.

"Oh, come on, Bella. You wouldn't have brought it up if it didn't bother you in some way. I'm pretty sure you're starting to question his intentions too, which is why you sought my opinion last night," Nelly remarked.
