Chapter 3: The Meeting
Wang Chen woke up early the next day, feeling a mix of excitement and apprehension. He knew that today was the day he would see Lǐ Hua again, the girl he had loved since he was a teenager. But this time, things were different. In this timeline, she didn't know him yet.
He got dressed and headed to school, his mind filled with memories of the past. As he walked through the corridors, he saw familiar faces, but they didn't recognize him. It was like he was a stranger in his own world.
Finally, he spotted her. Lǐ Hua was talking to her friends, laughing at something they had said. Wang Chen felt a pang of sadness in his heart as he remembered how she had died in his arms during the Oblivion. But he pushed those thoughts aside and approached her with a smile.
"Hi, Lǐ Hua," he said, trying to sound casual.
Lǐ Hua turned to him, surprised. "Do I know you?" she asked.
Wang Chen shook his head. "No, we haven't met before. I'm Wang Chen."
Lǐ Hua looked at him curiously. "Nice to meet you," she said, smiling politely.
Wang Chen felt a pang of disappointment. He had hoped that she would remember him, but it was foolish to think that. After all, he had gone back in time, and everything was different now.
They talked for a few minutes, and Wang Chen tried to make small talk, but it was awkward. Lǐ Hua seemed friendly, but not interested in him. Wang Chen knew he had to be patient and take things slowly.
As he walked away, he couldn't help but feel a sense of longing. He missed the Lǐ Hua he had known, the one who had loved him back.
