Chapter 19: The Fog III

...........

The Silver Domain was slowly but surely moving as Silver drove, thus enveloping a whole new area of the city, quite the strange area it was... Zombies, zombies as far as eyes can see, all crowded together... That's not the worst of it though.

The place was a feeding ground for abominations, the latter being zombies that are experiencing deformities or maybe evolution, and there were a lot of them, way too many of them.

Silver could even see some that have seemingly completed some kind of evolution, having seemingly no skin, their muscle tissues acting like their skin with abnormally wide mouths, their teeth, or what can be called fangs extending from them, and their claws further made them out to be the beasts that they are.

'They look a lot like Lickers,' Silver noted as he stopped the car, strong his chin in deep thought.

"What did you see?" Natalia curiously asked.

"The dead... Probably tens of thousands of them or even more," Silver's domain gave him a general view of what to expect, "Now, what should we do?"

"Take the alternate route?" Natalia suggested as they have previously thought of a plan in case they stumbled upon a situation like this, or they couldn't move forward with the car anymore... The plan was simply to go underground.

It might be slow but it's certainly possible with Loyd's decay and Silver's Silver Effect, but it seems that the latter has a different idea, "I changed my mind, bring out the guns... All of them."

Although confused, they still did what he asked, the fog not doing much to obstruct them from doing something as simple as getting out of the trunk and opening the trunk of the car.

Guns, something the united states certainly does not lack. In fact, Umbrella has way too many guns, collecting so many that even if their numbers multiplied by ten times, there would still be more guns.

"About every ten to twenty zombies killed gives you an awakening point, so let's do some harvesting, shall we?" Silver stated.

"Huh? But w-we can't see," Sunny responded with confusion.

"I can, so just follow my lead," Silver took a step forward, not having to make sure they keep up as each of them had one of Natalia's threads, always leading her way, and she always keeps up.

"It's been an honor, brother," Sunny couldn't help but let out a sigh as he patted Loyd, "Come to think of it, ain't you very old? Won't have much time to live anyway, so why not be my bodyguard? You know, take a bullet or a few for me, that's what they say, no?"

"Oh fuck off!" Loyd quickly shook him off, seeing that look in his eyes, the look that clearly says that he was looking at a meatshield.

"Let's quickly follow lest we become lunch for the dead," And without waiting for them to respond, Sam's legs tensed up as he touched the ground, vanishing from his place.

"Silver... Can I do whatever I want? Are we finally gonna wreak havoc on the city?" Natalia asked with trembling lips, licking one of her threads as she got lost in her sea of freaky imagination.

"Hmm... Well, you can say so," She certainly earned a weird look from Silver, "Have fun, just stay near me."

"Oh, I will never leave your side, not until you tell me what's on that strange brilliant mind of yours," Natalia responded with a chuckle.

"Then I will make sure you never know," Silver also responded with a chuckle. If not knowing means she will stay, then it's a win-win for he was never planning to open his mind for her anyway.

"Huh?" Natalia's lips twitched, realizing that she let it slip, quickly resting herself against him and acting all coquettishly, "I take it back, it's too comfy to be around you, so I will never leave... Please tell me... Someday?"

"Maybe, or you can just figure things out yourself," Silver suggested, "Wouldn't that be more fun? Moreover, I am only human, so there really isn't much to figure out. Could I really be that much smarter than you?"

"Yes?" Natalia was almost confused, "Babe, you wrote a two hundred thousand word essay on all possible futures, outcomes, and variables that could happen, and I only got to read a few pages before you burned the whole thing down."

"Well, that would be what I consider my greatest trait... Imagination," Silver shrugged, his only regret was that he had to write anything at all. Writing things down was a risk to him due to his paranoia, but unfortunately, while his mind is so much clearer than before, writing things down can still help.

If there is a god, gods, or some kind of higher power watching, then they might've seen all that he wrote... So why did he write all of those things despite knowing that? Only he knows.

"Imagination?" Natalia couldn't help but eye him weirdly, "Why does your imagination always turn out to be true then?"

"Well, by imagining everything and beyond? If you imagine so many possibilities and lines, one of them is bound to turn out true," Silver ended the conversation there as they got close enough.

"Fire in this direction... Unload all your ammo, then more, and don't stop until I tell you," Silver instructed, preferring not to send them amidst the seemingly boundless herds of zombies.

"That's it?" Sunny asked in surprise.

Silver nodded as he took a step back, standing behind them, "Natalia, you do whatever you want. Just don't go too far ahead. You may not be able to handle the radiation there." Natalia has the highest endurance in all of Umbrella as she helped the most with clearing zombies, earning a lot of awakening points, enough to resist the radiation around, just not the radiation of the source.

Natalia is different from the rest as decimating zombies don't require her to get close at all, and her threads not only give her good offense but also good defense.

Well, Natalia was gonna have fun as she vanished into the fog, going in a different way, allowing the others to not worry about hitting her with their bullets as they started firing like maniacs, Sunny especially enjoying the adventure, "I'm doing it!! I'm killing those bastard zombies! Hell yeah!!"

If only he knew that he was separated by no more than ten meters from the start of the zombie horde, a flock of zombies so large it crowded the entirety of this side of New York.

The zombies were naturally not unresponsive as they were awakened by the sound of gunshots, their hibernation being cut short.

Now, will a few individuals with guns be able to stop a horde of thousands or even tens of thousands of zombies? Of course not, not for long at least, but Natalia certainly stabilized the situation.

The zombies stumbled their steps toward the source of the bullets, making some unintelligible noises, only to be stopped by something they can not see.

And that was only the start as the zombies behind them had no care or intelligence as they pushed against the zombies in the front, the pressure getting higher and higher as more zombies shoved each other, until those at the front were simply split into several parts.

What the zombies couldn't see was that there were several threads in their way, threads tied to opposite buildings, and all that was needed was enough pressure for the strong thin threads to cut right through the zombies' flesh.

Natalia had found herself an innovative way to somewhat see in the fog, using the threads as something akin to a sonar wave to sense what was around her, all through pressure.

Her threads were even wreaking havoc amidst the zombies, seemingly hundreds of threads swimming about, sometimes curling around each other before drilling the zombies' brains.

For maximum efficiency, she even walked into the zombie horde, relying on waves of threads spinning around her to split any zombie near her, all while collecting some samples.

She seemingly didn't react or couldn't react to the Licker, the abomination that jumped from one of the buildings directly toward her as if it can see her.

Natalia didn't have to react for she trusted Silver enough to know that nothing should go wrong, and indeed, the Licker did fall before her, but it was nothing but a corpse.

"Oh, so foul but so gorgeous," Natalia acted almost too naturally as she excitedly crouched town, stabbing the corpse with a syringe before slicing it up.

Everything was going smoothly, way too smoothly for as usual, Silver was carrying the world on his shoulders yet treating it like air, 'Blizzard.' Indeed, a blizzard, they were unaware of the silver blizzard around them.
