Chapter 06: The Wand Chooses

Ollivander began explaining the wand's details.

"This wand is made from the tail feather of a very ancient Ho-oh, and its core is from a century-old elderwood tree. Twelve inches long, flexible yet sturdy. It's one of the finest wands I've ever made. I'll never find such rare materials again, and I doubt I could ever craft a wand as powerful as this."

"I just hope this one doesn't cause another 'surprise,'" Owen thought, exhausted from the frequent and unexpected results of the earlier tests. He didn't care about how powerful the wand was at this point—he just wanted the experiments to be over. Still, he carefully took the wand.

The moment Owen grasped it, every wand in the shop trembled. A strange sensation flowed through the wand into his hand—a smooth, fluid feeling of connection, as though the wand was now an extension of his arm. It felt effortless, like magic could flow from him with no resistance.

Owen gave the wand a gentle wave, and this time, there were no mishaps. Instead, the wand's tip emitted a brilliant silver light, and the trembling of the other wands ceased.

"Marvelous... truly marvelous," Ollivander exclaimed loudly. "It's an honor to see this wand find its master in my lifetime."

Turning to Owen, Ollivander offered a final piece of advice. "Wands with phoenix feather cores are particularly powerful and especially choosey when it comes to their owners. Ho-oh's feathers are even more selective. Elderwood wands, too, are notoriously difficult to master and require the highest level of skill. Any wizard who can wield one is destined for greatness. The fact that this wand chose you means you're bound for a legendary future."

As he spoke those last words, Ollivander glanced at Dumbledore.

Dumbledore smiled warmly. "My dear boy, I'm delighted that you've found such a powerful wand. I'm looking forward to seeing your potential at Hogwarts."

Owen, satisfied with his new wand, asked, "So, how much does this wand cost?"

"No, no charge," Ollivander said, reluctantly glancing at the wand. "To see my greatest creation in this lifetime find its true master is enough. I only ask that you make good use of it."

As Dumbledore and Owen walked away, Ollivander muttered to himself, "Wool's Orphanage again… and another genius. No, a talent even more incredible than that one. I hope he doesn't follow in his footsteps, or the wizarding world might…"

"Next, we'll need to get you fitted for your Hogwarts uniform," Dumbledore said after they exited the wand shop. "Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions is where we usually go."

Madam Malkin was a short, plump witch with a kindly smile, dressed in purple. "Hogwarts uniforms, dear?" she asked, not waiting for Owen to speak. "We've got plenty here. Oh, hello, Professor Dumbledore! I didn't notice you earlier."

They exchanged pleasantries.

Owen noticed another young boy emerging from the back of the shop. He was shorter than Owen—thanks to Owen's consistently growing body, he was taller than most boys his age—and dressed in a plain, drab black robe that Owen found utterly hideous.

"Excuse me, is that the Hogwarts uniform?" Owen asked, pointing reluctantly at the boy's attire.

"Yes, dear," Madam Malkin replied, leading Owen to a high stool. "But if you don't like it, you can always add some trim or make other small adjustments. Now, can you step up here so I can take your measurements?"

Still unimpressed with the traditional robes, Owen made a surprising request: "Could I design my robes and have them custom-made here?"

"Design your robes?" Madam Malkin's voice shot up an octave. "No one's ever made such a request before. We're professionals here… but if you insist, it's not impossible."

Her voice dropped, clearly hurt by the notion that her expertise might be overlooked.

Undeterred, Owen quickly sketched his design on a piece of parchment. It was based on his memory of the uniforms worn by students at the Mage's Association from the Type-Moon universe. The hem was slightly shorter than the typical Hogwarts robes, and the overall design was far more modern, incorporating elements from Muggle fashion. He also sketched matching shirts, vests, and trousers to go with it.

Dumbledore and Madam Malkin stood behind him, watching curiously. As Owen's swift strokes brought the outfit to life, their expressions grew more and more intrigued.

"I must say, your new student truly is a genius," Madam Malkin remarked to Dumbledore. "This isn't something an ordinary child could design. If he ever decided to become a fashion designer, he'd make a fortune in Galleons."

Dumbledore nodded in agreement. Ever since meeting Owen, he hadn't stopped being surprised by him.

After completing the final sketch, Owen set down his quill, and Madam Malkin eagerly snatched up the design, inspecting it closely.
