Chapter 3: Prison Escape Plan

"Hopefully something good for both of us" It replies

"Hopefully?.." That doesn't sound reassuring.

"Well, right now your soul is being housed in my core so it doesn't get thrown into the reincarnation cycle while we discuss. My plan is to use you to help me break out of this infernal prison that is my own body." He says with a dramatic pause.

After a few moments when he notices I don't plan on speaking he continues. "Ok fine, more specifically I want to hitch a ride. I cannot reincarnate since I don't have a standard soul but you can! Since I pulled you from the river of spirits already, once you leave my core you will be forced into a new body in this world. You better thank me since once this happens you get to skip that soul purge I mentioned usually happens in the river of spirits and jump straight to a new body with all your memories intact! Sounds good huh?"

"…Yeah… Too good in fact… What's the catch?"

"Hmm.. Shrewd as expected. But I like that. And yes there is a catch but it's not too bad. Since I cannot reincarnate I will reside in your soul till you reach a point where we can split. Honestly, even if you don't reach that level I couldn't care less, I just want to experience freedom outside of this pit of monsters. And if that means changing one prison for another that's less shitty [No offense] then Ill take it, especially since there is a chance of gaining full freedom in the future."

[Well, that's not terrible, but having a nosy side kick might get annoying] I think to myself. [All in all, its not a bad deal, and it's not like I have much other choice. I have a feeling if I disagree he's just going to keep me here till he finds a replacement since he's bored out of his mind. Wait is it even a 'He'? Guess it doesn't really matter. I suppose I'll go along with this plan, I don't want to spend 50,000 years in a black void talking to a core… I think I can understand his desperation a bit now..]

"Well.. Offense slightly taken. But I agree to help you, feel free to reside in my soul but I get to call the shots!" I said firmly. [I have to try to establish myself above him if possible]

"Deal! No backsies!"

"Errr… Ok"

"Well There is one more catch… I have no control over the reincarnation cycle in this realm, that's part of the Laws even the Realm Will has to follow."

"So what does that mean?"

"You might not reincarnate as a human… Possible alternatives range from other humanoid races to monsters and beasts so long as they have the ability to hold a complex soul such as yours. Meaning we atleast won't end up in plant.."

"Ya know.. The void is very tempting now." I say regretfully. In actuality I'm just trying to get more out of our deal as I have already steeled myself to agree to anything that will get me a new lease on life.

"Hey Hey Hey, hold up. Its not as bad as you think! Even if we get reincarnated as a beast or monster so long as we increase in strength we can evolve unlike the humanoid beings. With each evolution we will gain more power, skill, and eventually maybe even a similar humanoid body." The core quickly stammers out.

"I was going to wait to surprise you but I will also be assisting you once we reincarnate. I can help manage magical abilities and with as much power as I can stuff into your soul before we leave I should be able to perform some innate assistance skills like healing moderate wounds, detecting poison, and revealing stats of beings since I was originally an analytical being like the Realm Will but at a much lower standard. Sound good"

Silence…

[I can almost sense the nervousness vibrating though the core's void space]

"You have a deal!" I finally say
