CHAPTER 12 - THE REAL FIGHT

Anna stared at Lucian's eyes deeply. She could see the fear in his eyes and wondered how it felt like to be something you have no idea about or have no control over, to be cast out and treated like a total freak simply because of who you are.

Anna blamed herself. It was her fault, it was all her fault. She couldn't provide answers to her son. She couldn't even tell how everything happen, or describe who his father was. She was useless. She brought all this suffering to her son. But where was she going to find these answers from??? She had no memory to guide her. She felt helpless.

She brought her head closer to Lucian's head, holding his cheeks, she said firmly.

" I will never leave your side no matter what happens. I've been useless from the start, and this is all I can do for you."

Lucian smiled, he knew she was as stubborn as he was. As long she had set her mind to do something, it was useless convincing her to give up.

"Alright....breakfast is ready, let's eat before it gets cold. We'll carve wooden swords for your training with Nate after" Anna said tucking Lucian's hair behind his ears.

" Really... Mother, you can carve out wooden swords??" Lucian's eyes glimmered.

"Hahaha... of course, I told you I used to live in the palace. My brother loved to carve things out, so l learned a little from him. Don't worry I'll teach you how it's done." Anna said looking proud.

After breakfast, Anna and Lucian went to the back of the cottage to carve out the wooden swords. Anna additionally made a lot of toys for Lucian to play with.

Nate came right on time and she made them lunch, so they'll feel energized.

" Little god, your master is ready. On your feet! Let's match to the woods...wow those wooden swords look so cool. Where did you get them??"

Nate said examining the wooden swords.

"....." He was now seeing them???.. Sure enough, when there was food, nothing else came into his sight.

" My mother did them. Alright let us move " Lucian answered already heading for the door

"Yo... your mother ?? She doesn't just prepare good food?? She's so cool... Little god, I think am having a crush on your mother."

" Get lost! You're not handsome"

"...."

They got to a safe place in the woods, packed their food and water under one of the trees, and got changed into ragged clothes, so they won't get the other dirty.

Standing before each other, Nate said.

"Alright little god, as your master, it is time to show you my skills," Nate said proudly with a raised chest.

Lucian rolled his eyes.

" So what do I need to do master??" Lucian asked bowing exaggeratedly.

"You are going to thrust, while I defend" Nate answered in an imposing manner.

" What if I hit you? " Lucian asked again.

"Little god, Am not that useless. Let's begin"

Nate said, taking a fighting stance.

Lucian kept thrusting his sword as told, while Nate barely defended. This was mainly because Lucian had no coordination at all. He couldn't see the figure of Nate, hence kept thrusting his sword in a disorderly manner. While Nate tried his best to defend.

Raphael looked on sheepishly. He expected it to be humorous, but he didn't expect it to be this humorous. The advantage Lucian had here, was his strength, causing Nate to find it hard to keep up. But the guy just didn't want to give up. That, he had to give it to him. But their moves were really silly.

He felt that if he kept looking on, he might despise swordsmanship. Just as he was about to chip in, he sensed a dangerous aura. Lucian had stopped fighting too, he had also sensed the aura.

" Little god, what is it?? Tired already??" Nate said with sweat rolling down his face.

" Nate we need to leave, there's something here," Lucian said looking around skeptically.

Nate's eyes widened. Instead of traces of fear, there were traces of curiosity instead.

" What is it??" Nate asked squinting his brows and looking around too.

"I don't know, probably a beast... Let's go..."

'Don't move, it's close. It has already sensed you two. Move, and it will only go after you into the village. Guess it's time for you to experience a real fight.'

Raphael said with a smirk. He was finally going to watch a good show.

Just as Raphael said, the beast made an appearance that instant. It was a three-horned black beast. Nate looked at the beast in awe. He had always heard stories about strange animals in the forest, but he never truly believed them. Now there was one before him. He felt fear mixed with excitement. Sure enough, Nate was crazy.

As the beast kept approaching them, they began to move backward.

'Raphael! What do we do??...' If it was him alone, he wouldn't mind, but there was Nate. He didn't want anything to happen to him. Although his crazy friend would probably be feeling excited by now, he still wouldn't want anything to happen to him. They weren't skilled. And they weren't holding real swords either.

' Fight it, what else?? It's just an intermediate three-horned wolf. Be careful of its horns, they are poisonous.' Raphael said nonchalantly.

' just??... We are unarmed!!' Lucian said devastatingly. These were the times he wished he could punch Raphael in the face.

'That doesn't mean you can't fight it. This is the time for you to train. And of course ...for me to watch a good show. Just make sure you don't die' Raphael said feeling glorious. He liked it when he got the upper hand over Lucian.
