Castle came back to the loft to find Kate sitting in his office in the dark.
"Problems?" He said, gently kissing her.
"No."
"If you tell me that you're fine, I won't believe you. Then I'll have to find out what really is wrong." Castle adopted a fake German accent. "Do you haff relatives in the old country, Detective Beckett?"
That didn't even get a ghost of a smile from Kate.
"So, tell me what's wrong with you."
"There's nothing wrong with me. There's something wrong with you."
Castle knelt by Kate. "Honey, whatever I've done, I can fix it. We can fix it. I know we can."
That got Kate to smile. "There's something wrong with you because you fell in love with a stupid, selfish, self-centered, cowardly woman."
"You must have me mixed up with another Rick Castle. I'm in love with you, Kate. And you're nothing like that."
Kate handed him a copy of the Ledger. It was too dark for Castle to read more than the headline. "Serena Kaye?"
Kate nodded. "She recovered a stash of impressionist paintings stolen over the last twenty years or so for some Russian oligarch. The article says the collection is worth over a hundred million dollars."
"And all the art work she's ever recovered isn't as important as one murder that you've solved."
Kate was starting to cry. "I loved you, Castle. And I knew you loved me. And what did I do? I told you to go out with her. What kind of a woman does that to the man she loves? I came close to throwing away everything we have, all that we are, because I was afraid of loving you. Because I had to put what I wanted first. How could I think that loving you meant failing my mom? Do you know what my life would be like if I lost you?"
"No, and no one will ever know. There's never been any chance that you could lose me. Never." He kissed the top of her head. "Now, let me make you dinner and tell you all about my gorgeous, sexy, brilliant, courageous girlfriend and I'll explain what always means, too."

"Here you go, Beckett." Castle handed her a few sheets of paper as she walked into the loft.
"What's this?"
"Read it."
Carbon and Heat

Detective Nikki Heat snuggled in the arms of her lover, journalist Jameson Rook. Looking back at the case, Nikki couldn't imagine why she'd have thought that Serenity Klutz could possibly have taken Rook away from her. Of course, Serenity was somewhat attractive, in a slutty sort of way. But, when she took out her false teeth and took off her wig, her attractiveness did fade a bit. And the gang tattoos visible when she wore that short, low cut dress were a turn off. Although, her background as an art thief turned insurance investigator was the sort of thing that Rook would be interested in, from a strictly journalistic point of view. After all, Rook had interviewed serial killers, drug lords, dictators, human traffickers, Mafia dons, terrorists, and the Fox TV executive who'd cancelled that Joss Whedon show. He was used to dealing with the scum of the earth.
"You're perfect for me, Nikki. " Rook whispered in her ear. "Beautiful, intelligent, dedicated, and knowledgeable. No one could ever compete with you."
Nikki smiled. "And you're my one and done, Rook." Nikki sighed. "It's really a shame about Serenity, though. To begin with, the diamonds in the Anus of Free Enterprise turned out to be fakes. Her one percent finder's fee is only seventy eight cents."
"She did find a lover, though." Rook reminded her.
"True. But I thought that Schlemming trying to hump her leg in the precinct was too much."
Rook nodded. "Serenity seemed to like it. But it's a shame he'll never be able to go to Remy's again. I do hope they get the urine stains out of that booth. We have to remember never to sit there."
"I love you, Nikki."
"I love you, Rook."

Kate met him at the front door with some papers, a smile and a kiss.
"What's this?" He asked.
"Read it."

The blonde pushed her boobs into Jameson Rook's manly chest. "God, I want you, Rook. You're the man I've been looking for all of my life. Take me right here in Captain Irons' office. His chair is on rollers, I'll just push him out of the way."
Rook pushed the distraught woman away. Why couldn't these women understand that his heart and soul belonged to Nikki Heat? "Look, Ms. Khrapp, you're not unattractive…"
"Please," She begged, "call me Sanitary."
"And you can call me Mr. Rook." He said in a gentlemanly manner. "You're not unattractive. In fact I once had a conversation with a rodeo clown at the Angola, Louisiana, Prison Rodeo who was every bit as attractive as you. Why, there was even a brahma bull that bore a striking resemblance to you. Although less hairy."
"I'll do anything for you, Rook. Anything!" The distraught woman screamed. "You'd be surprised what I learned at the Academy for Repeatedly Fallen Women. I spent five years in the sixth grade there."
"Not going to happen." Nikki Heat said, sending a smoldering look at Rook. "I made the mistake of waiting for fifteen minutes before telling Rook he was the only man for me. And I regret every second of it. He's mine. And I do not share." Nikki pointed at the door. "Go! Now!" Captain Irons ran for the door, screaming, "Yes, ma'am."
"Nikki is quite forceful." Rook remarked.
Sanitary Khrapp wailed in agony. Her heart was broken. She grabbed the nearest inanimate object, a detective from Robbery, and began to pleasure herself with him. Rook thoughtfully threw a sheet over the couple.
"We really should return to my loft where I can worship your perfect body as it should be worshipped, Nikki."
"Aw, Rook. You say the sweetest things."

Rick and Kate relaxed in their bed, snuggling together after making love. They were typing on the laptop.
Always
By
Richard Castle and Kate Beckett
The hot, chestnut haired detective and the ruggedly handsome crime writer realized one thing. Although the journey to their love for each other had been long and arduous, it had been worth it. In spite of errors by both parties, each one knew that they loved the other beyond measure. They had found their always.
Today
Oddly enough, there seems to be nothing new written on Rick's laptop. Although they seem to be in bed, and busy with something. Perhaps if we wait…?
