Experiment 5, Soul.

After a quick nap, Mitsuna woke up.

Taking a look around and seeing that everything was like she left it, she tried to stand up but fell on her face.

'The lack of an arm is really something.'

Rubbing her nose, Mitsuna just sat there.

'It's useless to try to escape alone. The longer I stay the less likely it all becomes. God. What is taking brother so long?'

Just like that, Mitsuna sat there while thinking about nothing interesting in particular.

Hearing the dreadful flick of the switch, Nickolangela started speaking.

"My. My. You still have your sanity! I knew you were special! Your behaviour is the same too."

Mitsuna didn't even look at her.

"Hm. You know. After our last test, I had a brilliant idea! Since the mind is connected to sanity and that in term is connected to the soul, what happens if we change the soul a little? Great idea I know. So let's get on with it since I know you can't wait!"

Grabbing Mitsuna by the arm and pulling her outside the room without cuffing her, Nickolangela excitedly strutted past multiple rooms filled with screams.

Reaching the end of the hall, she opened the door and pushed Mitsuna inside.

'I guess cuffs are unnecessary when I only have one hand. Besides that, this is the end of this place, huh. I expected there to be a big meeting table or something. I guess their main base is outside?'

Nickolangela locked the door and snapped her fingers. A table appeared in the middle of the room where Mitsuna was then thrown on to.

Locking her there, Nickolangela left for a moment.

'I can only think of this situation as bad. Isn't the soul supposed to be like, really important?'

'... Can't Jameson hurry up? I'm already slightly traumatised, surprisingly only slightly.'

Nickolangela soon came back with a scientist looking bloke who wore sunglasses and a black shirt under his silver coat.

"This here is Mr Clane. He possesses the very rare Soul element and will be helping us during this test."

She turned towards the man and then said.

"Begin test 007."

'What happened to test 6?'

Mitsuna thought but before she could get another thought out she fell unconscious.

...

Waking up back in the void of her mind, Mitsuna looked around only to see all the creatures staring in her direction. Even the elf and angel pair.

Or so she thought as a similar man was standing behind her.

The man took off his sunglasses and looked around with his light blue eyes.

The eyes held a white silver magic circle in them. As he turned his head, the magic circle started spinning and moving.

And just as he glanced around, all the images of creatures dashed towards him, baring their teeth.

Mitsuna was surprised to see all the images suddenly paying attention to her and running at her with full speed.

Using her hands to block, she instead felt nothing as she opened her eyes, all the creatures were gone and surrounding her were chains.

Feeling that something is wrong, Mitsuna turned around to see all the image creatures locked in place by a whiteish cyan chain that seemed to be coming from all over as they stretched far into the distance.

Making eye contact with the man, before she could react, chains tied her around her neck and pulled her closer to the man.

The man's dark brown hair swayed as he placed his hand on her head.

Mitsuna's eyes turned a bright, light blue colour as she could no longer struggle.

As she stayed there motionless, screens surrounded the man as memories started to play.

From her birth to now along with a few images of Earth. Pictures of planes, cars and skyscrapers were blocked out with the vivid memories of her time with her family and training with the sword.

"Hmm. I feel there is something more."

The man said as he pushed the memories of family and training aside.

Looking at the pictures of modern machinery, the man spoke to himself.

"No. This isn't it. It seems to be... deeper."

Pushing the machinery aside, he ventured deeper.

He could only find screens of pure darkness.

"Something is hiding..."

Letting Mitsuna go and watching her fall, the man looked around.

"There. Since I have already infiltrated the soul, I should look for the missing memories."

Walking towards the seemingly infinite void, the man kept his cool with not a single change of expression.

Reaching what seemed to be the end after nearly 40 minutes, the man was confused.

The grass that was nearly impossible to see suddenly stopped as if someone had drawn a line, preventing all life from reaching past this point.

Even his own chains could not penetrate this invisible barrier on which even the owner's soul can not tread.

Reaching out his hand, the magic circles in his eyes started spinning. Extremely fast if I might add.

Feeling nothing obstructing the path, the man was surprised.

If nothing was blocking the way, why couldn't his chains continue or the grass grow further.

Taking a step off the grass, he was suddenly assaulted by pressure.

He started sweating as he flinched in fear and retreated back onto the grass. He could feel a pair of eyes watching his every movement almost emotionlessly like a golem.

Taking another step back, he sensed how the pair of eyes shifted and the pressure disappeared.

"What the hell. Pressure strong enough to make me back away and a presence strong enough to keep grass from growing. What the f*ck is this girl hiding in here?"

Retracting his chains, he left the space. As he did, he failed to realize that Mitsuna was still awake and was watching him the entire time.

After the man came back on the grass and started muttering to himself, Mitsuna felt a pair of terrifying eyes on her. They have yet to look away.

Mitsuna was frozen.

Looking down, she saw the grass retreating back almost as if escaping.

Looking into the distance she could see a figure but before she could get a better look, she woke up.

...

"Is what you are saying correct?"

"You saw it for yourself, Nick. I played a live video here when I was in there."

"Hmm. Let's try again tomorrow, at that time, bring me with you."

"Huh? You dumb? No. You dumb!"

"You heard me. I am interested in the memories of those machines and whatever is hiding in there."

"... If I feel threatened I will leave."

"And take me with you."

"...Sure. Maybe."

"Have a good rest in preparation."

"..."

Mitsuna woke up half asleep, only hearing a few halves of the conversation. Seeing how the man left, she turned her attention to that woman who was smiling ear to ear.

She was taken back to her room shortly after without even a 'well done' or anything similar.

Not that she was expecting praise.

Going to sleep, Mitsuna had no dream just like the last few nights it was just barely considered a nap where she kept consciousness.

The next day soon came.
