99 Experiment 6, Memory...

The next day, before Mitsuna could even wake up to the sound of a switch being flipped, the door opened and she was dragged back towards that room by Nickolangela.

She had a sh*t eating grin on her face and was clearly excited as she fidgeted.

On the way, Mitsuna could not hear any screams.

'I guess it's way too early.'

Yawning, she watched as the door opened and the man was waiting inside, leaning on the wall.

"Let's get to it then."

"Yes, yes. I am so excited!"

Hearing the man sigh, Mitsuna was strapped on the table as the man put on cuffs on the woman's hands and connected them to his own as he explained how they work.

Mitsuna could not be bothered so she just waited and prayed.

'Brother... are you even coming?'

Darkness enveloped her vision.

...

Back in the void, the creatures were acting the same as last time.

Looking behind her, she saw the man and woman.

Nickolangela seemed hypnotized by the surroundings, spouting out theories about what this void like substance could be. A soul still in development or a soul in the process of healing.

As she touched the grass with an excited smile, the image creatures finally reacted.

They charged at full speed and seemed to be following some sort of strategy.

They all charged at the man as the elf and angel made their move from both sides.

The chains wrapped the charging foes up but they did create an opening for the duo.

Throwing their strongest punches, a small blast was released as they had aimed for the man's face.

Yet the blast did not come from them hitting their mark. Rather, their faces said it all.

Pure disbelief and fright.

The woman had caught both of their attacks as her eyes glowed.

"Careful, careful. The chained cuffs can't expand their reach infinitely."

The man said as the glowing cuffs had lengthened so the woman could move her hands without dragging the man along.

"It'll be fine."

Nickolangela threw the duo at the rest and the man's chains locked them in place too.

"But it seems like a bit of the souls from the blood transferred over."

"It's not that bad. They can't do much."

"Now show me more of those machines."

Nickolangela said as her eyes shined and face beamed with expectations.

Clane sighed and used the same trick to pull Mitsuna closer.

As he reached out his hand and placed Mitsuna in the same state as last time, memories containing modern inventions flew around.

Nickolangela was pleased and memorised all of them.

"I can't believe they don't even use mana!"

"They don't?"

"Nope!"

"Oh, wow."

"Stop sounding so sarcastic all the time, Clane."

"Stop being so sadistic with your test subjects, Nick."

"Touché."

"Same to you."

As Clane was watching Nickolangela play around with Mitsuna's memories, he suddenly felt something off.

Looking down, he could see no grass.

Sweat ran down the back of his neck as he let Mitsuna go and looked around.

The screens of memories disappeared much to Nickolangela's dismay.

"Why?!?"

"That thing is near."

"Well get rid of it!"

"I'm gonna need some help for that!"

Clane retracted his chains and saw how all the soul images started escaping.

Feeling a presence behind him use mana, he turned around with his chains ready to pierce the individual.

But what was behind him was just Nickolangela.

Turning back around, he could see a pair of eyes look at him through a gap in his chains.

Jumping back, he shouted and attacked.

"There!"

He was then seemingly burned alive a second later as the chains disappeared.

Nickolangela, who lost her connection to the soul slowly flickered away but not before seeing the figure of the monstrosity in front of her.

"M-Mizuki!?"

As Nickolangela disappeared, Mizuki turned her glance to her new self who was warily looking at her.

"So you're the new me. Greetings."
