A Wallflower in the background

Naoko Ito stood there in shock, at the statement that befell her father's mouth. "Boarding school?" Unconsciously she repeated the words out loud, trying to grasp the information and to confirm if she had heard it right. An answer came from her mother in the form of a nod, confirming that she had heard it right. Her expression was that of disbelief, confusion consumed her and she was honestly scared. The thought of being with people for 3 years, sharing a room, and that they would know her every secret, scared her. She's never the best with communication, how is she going to survive this? she thought to herself. ***The Cover art is not mine. Credits to the rightful owner. Temporary cover.

Awakening from Dormancy

In the week following Nao's visit to the club's trial with Yumi and the others, she spent five days lazing around in her dorm. This idle behavior began to wear on the patience of her usually kind roommate, Ema.

On the sixth day, Ema decided she had had enough. She stormed into the room, her sunny smile replaced by a scowl. "Wake up, sleepyhead!" she exclaimed with exasperation.

Nao, wrapped in the warm embrace of her blankets, groaned and mumbled, "Five more... minutes... Mother..." Ema's frustration peaked as she leaned over with an assertive tug and yanked Nao from her bed.

Nao tumbled onto the floor with a yelp. "Ouch! That hurt..." she muttered, rubbing her sore backside.

Amused by Nao's dramatic reaction, Ema couldn't help but smirk. "I'm not your mother!" she said in a playful yet slightly exasperated tone. Expressing how done she was with her.

"But if I don't get you up and moving, I might as well be."

Nao sat up, finally fully awake, and offered a sheepish smile. "Sorry, Takane-san. I guess I've been lazing around for too long."

Ema's expression softened, and she extended a hand to help Nao get up from the floor. "It's okay, but you can't stay in bed forever. You're missing out on so much by not joining any clubs. "

Nao sighed, realizing that Ema was right. She had come to boarding school to try new things and make the most of her campus experience. However, she had let her inertia get the best of her. "You're right, Takane-san. I should get up and do something. I don't want to waste my time here."

Ema's smile returned. "That's the spirit! Let's find something fun for you to do. Who knows? You might discover a new passion or make some great friends. "

With Ema's encouragement, Nao began contemplating her options for today's activity. It was the time to step out of her comfort zone and make the most of her campus life.

Though I said that, what should I do today?

Hm, Aha! I should submit my club registration form!

Ema became curious upon seeing Nao brimming with joy. "Have you decided what you want to do, Naoko-san? "

Nao's eyes lit up with enthusiasm as she shared her plan with Ema. "Yes, Takane-san! I've decided to submit my club registration form today. "

Ema's smile widened, and her eyes sparkled with excitement. "That's a fantastic idea! Which club did you decide to join? " She asked.

Nao nodded, feeling more determined than ever. Joining a club could be a significant step in her journey to become more involved in campus life. "I plan to join the art club and Kyudo club. Thank you for pushing me to get up and do something productive, Takane-san."

Ema gave Nao a warm hug. "You're welcome, Naoko-san. I'm here to support you. Now, let's get you ready for the day."

With Ema's help, Nao quickly dressed up and prepared to explore the world of campus clubs. Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in her life - one filled with opportunities, adventure, and personal growth.

As they left the dormitory, Nao felt grateful for having a roommate like Ema, who was always there to encourage and motivate her. With her newfound determination, she was ready to break out of her shell and discover the path to involvement in her new school.
