Giving Birth

Cathleen thought she would be fine tonight and could sleep comfortably, especially since this time she felt much happier having her best friend by her side when she was in such a big situation.

It would be a lie if she didn't feel worried before. She couldn't deny that she was afraid that she would have to give birth alone, even though it was a risk she decided to take.

Was her decision wrong?

She wasn't sure!

It was just that for now choosing to raise the child she was carrying was the right choice. She couldn't possibly abort when the baby was already in her womb.

She was not that heartless and cruel. However, her baby had no faults, so her baby's presence must be welcomed happily.

Cathleen wants her baby to get enough affection from her.

Sweat began to pour down Cathleen's forehead. The pain that was quite intense was now getting worse. She thought that the pain that had previously disappeared and arose with a duration that could be said to be not frequent, but now the pain was getting more intense.

Cathleen's teeth clashed together trying to suppress the pain without making a sound.

Until...

The scream of a voice that she could not bear in pain finally forced its way out of Cathleen's mouth.

The sound of quick footsteps could be heard approaching Cathleen's room.

"Cath," Fred whispered when he saw his friend who was pale with drops of sweat running down her forehead and body.

"It hurts Fred," Cathleen finally told her friend who she considered her family too.

Fred rubbed her forehead lightly and immediately told Cathleen that he would take her to the hospital.

"Please get my car ready," Fred said to Stephanie whom he saw coming to the door.

Stephanie nodded her head and immediately obeyed Fred's orders, while Fred himself immediately helped Cathleen prepare the girl for the hospital.

Luckily Stephanie had previously prepared some of Cathleen's clothes which the girl thought Cathleen would need a bag containing clean clothes as well as a few pieces of baby clothes, as the girl thought it best to prepare them as she saw the time of Cathleen's birth approaching.

Fred carefully carried Cathleen bridal style, to the car parked in front of the girl's house.

.

.

The moans of pain didn't stop for a moment.

"Cath hang on, I think your baby is looking forward to meeting you," Fred said as he put Cathleen in the passenger seat.

As if not hearing Fred's words, the girl was just busy moaning and whimpering in pain at what she was feeling.

"Fred, I think I wet your seat," Cathleen said absentmindedly as she realized that she was feeling wet down south.

Fred, who had been trying to reassure himself that everything was under control, was now starting to get a little worried. He felt that the words Cathleen had just said were a sign that his best friend's baby was about to be born.

"It's okay Cath, you better catch your breath, and stay awake. I'll speed up my car to get to the hospital faster."

'Come on, Focus Fred!' said Fred trying to control himself so as not to get carried away by the existing atmosphere

The difficult nod of the head that Cathleen finally gave.

After all, she had to endure for the sake of her baby, didn't she?

As best she could, Cathleen tried to ignore the pain. It wasn't easy for her to push away the pain while keeping herself conscious in such a grueling condition.

As Fred had said earlier, the young man drove the car fast.

Cathleen, who had just arrived at the hospital, was immediately taken to the operating room for her birth this time.

Mixed feelings filled Fred's heart.

He just hoped that Cathleen and the baby were okay. He took a few deep breaths and then sighed again.

His footsteps were constantly busy stepping around the spot where he was standing.

"Mr. Fred, you'd better sit down. You take it easy, Miss Cathleen and the baby will be fine," Stephanie said finally trying to calm Fred who she knew was worried about Cathleen.

Fred stared at Stephanie for a moment without a word, and soon stepped onto one of the nearby benches.

This time Fred tried to be more rational. He had to admit that he was quite reluctant to show what he felt to his staff. Oh come on Fred himself had been maintaining his image quite well, so he didn't want to look weak in Stephanie's eyes this time.

Even if he had to lie to himself.

Fred's hands were busy holding his knees trying to hold his position with mixed feelings.

More than twenty minutes had passed, and no doctor had come out of Cathleen's room.

Cathleen is fine, right? Is everything under control?

Many questions were swirling in his head. It felt like he wanted to curse Jedd back, if only the young man knew how Cathleen was struggling alone without a companion.

'You can rest assured Cathleen, I will always look after you. You're like my own little sister, so there's no way I'm leaving you.' Fred's monologue in his mind.

.

.

Almost an hour later one of the doctors came out of the operating room.

"Are you Miss Cathleen's husband?"

"No, I'm her brother," Fred said, not entirely deceiving the doctor's question.

A nod of the head was given by the doctor, who said that the patient had now safely delivered a beautiful baby girl.

"What about Cathleen? Is she as well as the baby?"

"Miss Cathleen is still being monitored, so far she is in good condition, if she is fine for half an hour, she will be transferred to the inpatient room."

Fred felt a sense of relief. At least hearing that Cathleen was doing well and that her baby was born safely was more than enough for him.

'You should be fine Cath.'
