Beautiful

After almost 30 minutes, Cathleen was finally able to enjoy her time with her beautiful baby, who had previously been languishing in a small incubator room to support her life.

Baby Jacqueline looked comfortable in Cathleen's arms. Occasionally the tiny baby is seen rubbing her face to comfort herself in Cathleen's arms, not to mention Cathleen can see how her baby smiles when her eyes are still unable to open fully for a long duration.

Beautiful!

One word that Cathleen could describe right now when looking at her tiny baby in her arms.

She honestly never imagined that she would feel the way she did.

Grateful?

Maybe that's all she can do for now.

She is grateful because she never rejected the presence of her baby who in fact today she will get happiness as well as a beautiful thing to feel and see for the first time in a long time according to her.

It had been a long time since she had been truly happy for herself, and she doubted that she could even define the word happy before.

"Ah, my baby is really beautiful," Cathleen praised baby Jacqueline. Indeed in her eyes as a new parent, her baby was the most beautiful baby she had ever seen.

Fred smiled. He didn't deny Cathleen's words which he thought was a statement of fact.

The baby looked absolutely beautiful with her face still very red with lashes that were droopy.

"I didn't know your baby was going to be this beautiful Cath, I think I'm going to be a bit possessive of my niece," Fred said casually to Cathleen, which made Cathleen laugh when she heard Fred's words which she found quite funny.

She thought maybe Fred wouldn't agree with her 100%. But in reality, it seemed like Fred actually agreed with her 100% without any rebuttal.

"Jacy, you should not have a boyfriend until I allow you to have one. You'll have to introduce any man who wants to get close to you in the future."

Cathleen's laughter could no longer be contained. She didn't expect that her best friend would say that.

"Thank you, Fred, you came at the right time. I don't know how I would have fared if you hadn't come yesterday Fred," said Cathleen who didn't forget to thank Fred.

"Don't say that, it's my duty as your friend and family to look after you."

If Cathleen had laughed before, now her eyes were glassy as she tried to hold back her tears, touched by Fred's words.

"Come here," Cathleen said asking Fred to come closer to her.

Fred, who was a little confused but didn't want to ask Cathleen why she was asking him to come closer, complied with Cathleen's request.

Cathleen's free hand, not holding Jacy, immediately gestured for her friend to hug her.

Fred understood very well the gesture that his best friend had just given him.

"Thank you, Fred, you are indeed my best family," Cathleen said when she managed to hug Fred, of course without hurting Jacqueline who was in the middle of them.

Only a low hum was given by Fred in reply to Cathleen's words.

Cathleen slowly let go of Fred, as did her best friend who also loosened his embrace.

"So, where is Stephanie? Why is she taking so long to buy lunch?" Fred complained casually until the sound of the door being knocked was heard by Fred and Cathleen.

The figure Fred had been asking about was now in front of them with a goodie bag in his right hand.

"Long live," chirped Fred when he saw the figure he had just been looking for.

Cathleen was about to chuckle at Fred, but she couldn't because he was already glaring at her.

She was quite surprised to receive such a rare gaze.

"Woah, she's beautiful," Stephanie said with her gaze focused on the baby Cathleen was holding.

Stephanie's footsteps unconsciously walked closer to Fred and Cathleen, ignoring Fred's confused look at her.

"Beautiful."

Once again Stephanie complimented Jacqueline.

Cathleen smiled as Stephanie continued to praise her daughter.

"Do you want to touch her?" asked Cathleen at last when she saw Stephanie's adoring gaze.

"May I?"

"Of course, because you took care of me until I gave birth to this beautiful baby," Cathleen said casually.

Cathleen's eyes spontaneously gave Fred the code to make room for Stephanie to get closer to her.

Fred reluctantly moved his body to make room for Stephanie.

"Hello, baby Jacy," Stephanie greeted Jacqueline while rubbing Jacqueline's body wrapped in a thin blanket.

"Hello," Cathleen said back to Stephanie as if she were her daughter.

Stephanie also smiled at Cathleen's response. Honestly, she was happy to work with Cathleen who didn't discriminate between people based on their status, even though she knew that Cathleen used to be the managing director of the company where Fred was currently taking over Cathleen's position.

It's just that it doesn't mean Cathleen no longer has a position there, but she is a company advisor as well as the owner of the company with the largest shares there.

So how does she work?

Cathleen still works online communicating directly with clients or discussing with Fred.

If in the past large projects would be shared by Fred and Cathleen, then now they work together more often. Cathleen no longer takes on solo projects.

While Stephanie was still busy gazing at the tiny baby, a nurse entered Cathleen's hospital room.

"Looks like Jacy's playtime is over," Cathleen chirped as she rubbed the cheek of her baby who was still faithfully asleep in her arms.

Sure enough, the nurse who heard Cathleen's babble confirmed Cathleen's words.

The nurse said that she would take Jacqueline to the infant sterile room again.

Cathleen felt that she didn't have enough time with her baby, but with her body still in need of rest and her baby also in need of a break, she couldn't deny the nurse's words.

"When can I get out of this hospital and take my baby home?" Cathleen asked the nurse without hesitation.

The nurse wisely informed Cathleen that the doctor would decide on the length of hospitalization after Cathleen and the baby were re-examined by the doctor on duty.

A soft sigh sounded in Fred's ear.

"Thank you."

That was the only word that finally escaped Cathleen's lips.

'Patience Cath, you need to recover first to take care of your baby.' Cathleen's monologue in her mind.
