LONG-TIME AGO FRIEND

Adric walked to where the small crowd had gathered. He noticed someone's dress hidden inside a nearby carriage but didn't pay mind to it.

"Your Highness," one of the construction workers bowed, "I have told these men here to turn back as the work has been cancelled."

Louis didn't like the man's tone; he interjected. "Your Highness, please, we are from another town. One that is far away from here. Inside our carriage are goods that are perishable."

Adric moved his head to the side, seeing the old carriage. "And what do you do?"

Louis bowed, "I am the head cook. I follow these workers everywhere, cooking for them while I get paid. I also provide for workers who depend on me for their pay."

Adric nodded, "The construction here has been cancelled due to internal issues. I can pay you for the inconvenience," he suggested.
