A Reincarnator's Journey

David Valor, a normal sophomore student, dies in a cliche 'truck-kun' accident just to get sent to another world by the system! Using the 'true' system, he slowly rises to the top of the food chain before truly begining his adventure! (David may not be a "Good" Mc as I want to write it in a way of what I would do if I was in this situation myself. Of course there will also be some things different than what I think as well.) *** Note: I have no real plans for this story, it was made on a whim, so it may lose quality on the way, please read with caution! Schedule: I'm still in school so updates will also be somewhat slow, also, english is not my first language so please comment if I wrote something wrong! Thank you for reading!

David carefully walked out and quickly used his [Mini-Map] to locate some enemies that were somewhat weak and low in number.

Marking them, he quickly follows the arrow that was pointing him in the direction they were in. As he didn't level up [Mini-Map], he didn't actually know what he was up against, but they did have the least amount of monsters, yet not so little where they could have the possibility of being mini-bosses and such.

Following them to an isolated spot, he peeked his head from a rock at a distance.

What he saw was a small group of ants rushing to different locations to what seems to be scouting and the occasional food gathering, most likely for the queen.

'So there's a potential mini-boss level monster at least...' David inspected the weakest looking ant as it was the smallest, only around 2 feet long, while the largest and was around a bit over a meter long (3.3 feet).

The ants had a red carapace, with their six large legs the size of multiple fingers, and due to their size, their hair and antenna are more obvious than those back on Earth. Their abdomen had a small nozzle, which occasionally dripped hot lava onto the ground. Their eyes black and their antennas slightly moving as if they were talking to each other.

(A/N: I hate bugs, so I...am...not...describing it...in much detail...! Please understand...)

David drew his claws and clawed at multiple surfaces while running around them, giving it the illusion that whoever their enemy was, that they were everywhere.

The small army of ants was all on alert, and due to their low intelligence, they split up, searching separately for the sounds continually echoing through the area.

David smiled seeing his plan worked, and this time, he had no hesitation in killing ants as he hated all insects and insect-like beings to the core.

Going after one of the groups, he caught up with them quite soon, David pounced at the lone flame ant after regaining his footing.

'Come're motherfucker!' David slashed the ant's legs, making it twitch in pain, waving its antennas.

Not allowing it to release too many pheromones, David straightened his hands and chopped the ant's head off with his claws before throwing the head into the inventory.

Seeing a mist appear out of the ant's body David smiled, yet was very tense at the same time.

"Oleic acid...seems like some stuff from Earth still works here..." he muttered, quickly dragging the ant to the other small groups and throwing it at them.

(A/N: Oleic acid is the chemical released by a dead ant. It usually takes 2 days for it to start being released, but due to the fact that these ants decay faster, so the energy can be quickly recycled. For other ants, when an ant releases this chemical, they are dumped away, even if they are alive. For example, "Well you smell like a corpse, so you're dead, into the pile you go!")

David was quickly dispatching the ants while also using their slightly increased intelligence against them, by using ant corpses to draw them in and take them out in one swoop.

Seeing that the notification lit up, David knew that he had gotten rid of the majority of the ants, so he quickly returned to his own 'territory' to wash off of the flesh and blood smell that was on him.

Returning, he quickly washed everything off before looking at the corpses in front of him.

His stomach growled at him and his mouth was slightly opened, which he swallowed as he could tell that a part of him wanted...no, needed him to EAT...

Looking at the message, David first walks up to the clean water source behind him, reaching out his arms to grab a small sip before putting his head under the source, downing the clear liquid.

"...Phew...*Growl...*, I know...I know..." David got some inspiration looking at the flesh in front of him.

"Magic practice time! I do have mana and magic control and the elemental affinity, so it should work if I make a simple fire." David cleared a small space and stretched out his hands.

Remembering the contents from the books, instead of using science from Earth, it was replaced by other elements powered by mana, meaning although some laws are similar to Earth's, like gravity, not all laws were the exact same.

Using his imagination, David thought of a small yet stable fire, and also imagined it steadily consuming red particles, which the system had told him that was one of the mana affinities in the air, fire mana.

Drawing a small amount of fire mana in the air, a small bright flame appeared on his palm. The flame was actually burning quite brightly due to the fact that where David was, it had a majority of fire mana than the other types.

Putting a few rocks in a circular shape, David made the fire float in the middle, making it into a campfire, except there was no wood.

Looking beside him, he saw a decapitated lizard, which was quickly skinned in an orderly fashion according to the beginner's dismantling book.

Cutting apart the meat, David had cut the meat into small parts which were held together with a sharpened bone above the fire, like a spit-roast.

Seeing that the color become brown, David held a tone of lizard meat kebabs and ate them quite quickly as he was starving. He didn't clean them as he didn't know how much liquid would be contaminated, even if he didn't put it at the source, so knowing that he didn't have monster genes that ate monsters raw, eating it cooked should be fine as well...right?

"...Sigh...this is the best I can do without spice after all..." David sighed, even though it was delicious due to his new monster hybrid body, it still wasn't as good as when he had cooked with spices.

Placing the bones down, he looked at his own reflection from the water pond that had formed after letting it flow for a bit.

"I really did change...much worse than what I expected..." David looked at himself, and the expectations of reincarnating into another world.

It seems quite good at first, but, especially since he's a kid, he was a special case as his taxes were passed onto someone else, so he already didn't have much experience on Earth. Now, he had to learn the monetary system, languages, ranking systems, identities, and so much more as he was born and lived literally under a rock for whatever amount of time he was alive here.

"Guess the only thing is to train around my magic...need to test out some things..." David placed everything away and sat in a meditation stance.

He was concentrating on the surrounding mana, but failed due to the lack of balance everywhere as the two main mana energy in the area was fire and earth.

"Tch...guess I'll have to actually leave the place before I could really practice magic." David smiled coldly, with his eyebrows twitching.
