Chapter 2: Run

Since Helen doesn't know anything about the outside world, she stayed indoors and more importantly because of her and Creston's safety.

Leila takes the risk of going out to get them some food. She goes to work outside the woods, in the town. Whatever amount she makes, she uses it to buy food in bulk to avoid going outside and risking the mother and child.

"Helen, I'm going to get food. Stay safe."

Leila was about to leave when Helen spoke

"Leila."

"hmm"

"Thank you for sheltering me and my son."

Leila humed then nodded.

"you are both helpless that's why I decided to help you."

Helen smiled then Leila left leaving Helen and Creston all alone in the cottage.

It was about five in the evening and Leila had still not come home. She didn't like staying long in the town because of fear that Helen and Creston may be attacked so the latest time she gets home was about 4:30pm but today it was nearing six O'clock and Leila hadn't arrived yet.

Finally, it was nightfall and Leila hadn't come home and Helen was worried sick but more of scared than worried. She was just a poor, helpless and defenseless mother trying to protect her child.

Helen was seated worried with a lamp at the corner and Creston in her arms. Helen was shooing away the mosquitoes from Creston while worriedly waiting for Leila after some time Helen heard the howling of dogs from a distance and she knew what that meant; Leila had been attacked by those damn dogs and she and Creston were going to be next.

Helen quickly carried Creston an started running. She ran as far and as fast as possible but who was she to outrun those demon dogs, a mere female human against fierce demon dogs?

It's gotta be a f*cking joke.

The demon dogs caught up with her and pounced on her and she fell with Creston still in her arms.

thud~

Creston started crying and the dogs began feasting on his mom.

Creston cried louder then a strong wind blew then the dogs started to feel oppressed like a mighty aura started to ooze out of Creston leaving the dogs in utter fear and confusion.

Then suddenly out of nowhere, bullets came flying to hit some of the demon dogs then the demon dogs were no longer under suppression and started running away, of course only the living ones.

A man by the name Gobert who was camping around there was looking for some wood to make a fire when he heard Creston crying then he came and shot two dogs. In all his years, he had never seen such an ugly beast he was scared but he had to act. What scared him now was the lady's body on the ground. She was bleeding profusely and needed immediate care so Gobert took Creston and half_dead Helen to his camp and took care of them.

The next day, Gobert took Creston to his house and Helen to the hospital where she now remained in a sleeping state or maybe she was dead. Gobert didn't care . He took Creston as his son and raise him.
