Eleanor speaking here it's been a few days since I joined this party of two adult males in hopes of survival. At the very least my problem is nonexistent, we get along very well, communicated and most are understanding. You could say it's heaven but beneath that sunshine and rainbows lies a monster threatening a little girl's life. But can I call myself such a title when I never committed to the act?
"Run!"
The first thing in the morning everyone else is considered asleep and a few rises to train their bodies. In the apocalypse, you have no fucking choice, this place doesn't give a fuck about timing, not in the slightest. Rick along with his crew ran for their lives after their car finally lose its life and in their backs were bloodthirsty zombies
"L can you do something about this?" Rick excitingly asked as they proceed in their march
"Hold on, let me see what we're dealing with... sniff. We don't have any choice, even I will die if we fight them. We need to go,"
Rick was confused and added. "Wha...? L you didn't even look you just open your mask and went for a little sniff. Just look at them!"
"I don't need to look at them, Rick. I can tell from the difference in their scent that the likelihood will die ain't that far. And excuse me, do you think bothering someone that's more experienced than you has any contribution? No right?" As he declared the three of them continued running for their lives till they reached an abandoned building
...
30 minutes later
"Whew, lucky us! I hate the geographical effect of this apocalyptic word who would've thought the road would get all messed up? I was so attached to that car I thought I could ride it for life. But good things come to an end, am I right or am I right?" As the present danger passes through like the rain currently present Rick tried to alleviate their tension
"I wouldn't lie if I said nothing and denied im not sad about the car. Shit that was a Geavan 2020! Do you think sports cars fall from the skies? That was a waste, too bad that earthquake caught us off guard, and it died in a ditch. Cheer up Rick, there are lots of better cars, have you ever seen a Ramvolghini before?"
He left him hanging and the room was filled with utter silence before his late reply. "Can we uh change the topic? It was stupid to open up our chat with cars... I only know the Geavan series. So yeah it's a worse subject and I might be a little biased if you talk about other cars. You know since I always dream I ride a Geavan in my late 50's,"
Leo hardly had anything to do after they'd done barricading the whole joint. Eleanor was sitting quietly in the corner with a book to keep her entertained. That's when it hit him, what better subject there is than the existence highly likely to end the human race
"Rick... have I ever told you I've been doing some studies in terms of zombies?" Eleanor showed interest and Rick even though he liked it or not, his eyes were no doubt curious about what he had to offer
"Zombies? I guess im interested. What about those freaks? Just you know I've been spying on them for quite a while," Rick had grown accustomed to seeing his face, and it wasn't to say until Leo wore a pair of glasses just to geek things put
"Come one come all! This is Zombiology illustrated by the author; L. Its first copy was published by L and written and edited by L," He showed his phone and quickly he drew their enthusiasm to his miraculous studies of the infected
"Preservation fluid? So that's why they never bleed, I thought it was strange but it was this... isn't this kind of similar to yours?" He was right on the mark but Leo's fluid evolved along with his body
His body did return to its state but most of the time the mutation wasn't enough. Like the outcome of his face. He didn't look like an infected but he's more or less horrendous than he led on. As for the fluid, the changes it has undergone were its ability to construct nearly identical flesh instead of remaining transparent
'I can't believe Rick hasn't noticed! Looks like it'll be easy to manipulate him, but im scared of what might happen. Then again, as horrific as he may be, his notes are descriptive. I never knew someone could gain such information in a matter of weeks. Just this page would've taken years of trial and error, but his a zombie so he can identify if the symptoms are right or wrong,'
"... so yeah studying zombies, I don't have anything else I wanted to accomplish. Even if I can I probably just eat someone– By that I mean get some chicks you know what im saying haha,"
He narrowly dodge a bullet of his creation, and it appear that Rick had no doubt about his mind and smiled. "Pffft, get some chicks... well I guess that is kind of a dream, for you it'll be a miracle. But I think you wouldn't do it if you were given the choice, my specialty is guns and love. My dear friend, even with your eyes that are dead as a fish I can see you only have room for one chick in your heart,"
He felt Rick's passionate and calming tone alongside the sensation of his back lightly patted. "This might be out of the blue, but what are guys fighting for? What drives you to keep living, I bet Rick's is to get his hands on a sports car, but that'll be too easy. I'll tell mine if you guys are willing,"
Rick was enthusiastic as he predicted but he never thought of Eleanor walking closer to the fireplace in an attempt of joining. "Ellie is kinda quiet and I can already guess L's goal, then that leaves me. For starters, L is kind of right, the Geavan was too easy, I want to start over. A new life with my little brother, Carl. We're the unfortunate bunch that got unlucky with having a druggy for a mom and a drunk of a father. If there's anything I want to find my baby bro and start a new life somewhere, Zombie free,"
'I knew the guy had a past but who knew... that explains a whole lot of shit like him acting like a mom and tucking Ellie when she's gonna sleep. She doesn't look like she has something to say, well it's about time to settle this. I'll just say my part and get this over with–'
"I want to save the world," Ellie randomly said out of the blue leaving the two dazed in what she was about to declare
"Logically speaking there's no saying how long a cure can be made or is there even a possibility. Don't misinterpret what I say. I'm not some sort of martyr because im born gifted compared to you. Saving the world and its people are two different things, while im still kicking I'll make sure the world is still suitable to inhabit,"
'A goal both hard yet hadn't arrived at the point of no return. A desire thats both logical and appropriate, as expected of a scientist. Even though this brat is 12 her mental depiction of herself is older than us probably. She doesn't wonder about the impossible and neither does she dream of making such a thing a reality. But I kind of understand her reasoning, even if she saves the people lots of variables can kill the human race. It's not like she's immortal and could bask in her achievements, I think she has a well-thought-out goal,'
The others had their fair share of time and Leo was now at the center of the fireplace where he stood and speak his mind. He was fidgety like any teen confessing his love in front of a bunch of people he recently met nonetheless. But his actions were indifferent to an undead, even though he possesses the same urges
"I uh... Kuuurgh! This is so embarrassing, so I kinda have a long-time crush on this one girl in my school. D-don't get me wrong im, not a stalker or something, my life is kind of like a novel or some shit. Summer was right there in the corner I was going to confess to my crush, whether I fail or succeed I needed to know. Then the apocalypse happened... I survived, I search my hometown, but nothing. Dead or Alive, I'll find her whether she's a zombie or not, im done living with regrets,"
That night was the time they bonded and felt peace on a rainy evening like always Leo was bored once again. Having no necessity for sleep tends to bore him and most of his time was spent staring at the moon. It was like any evening but this night was special, it felt like the beginning of a new era for that evening he witnessed such a spectacle
"The moon turned red," The radiating glow of the moon hardly affected him but he felt its influence even for a second
The rage he felt was unfathomable, in his sudden panic he look back and saw the reality it hadn't turned red. It was melting, its outer shell of white cracked and revealing its blood-tinted color as it aligned with the sun. Beneath the building, the zombies went rampant their screams became louder and slowly their bodies morphed. They began changing in their own unique and different manner and in front of them were humans standing on a mountain of corpses
"Holy shit!!" He wasn't sure of what he saw but he was certain of one thing. The sensation of his eyes, the comfort his body felt from his pillow. There's no doubt about it he was...
'Just now was I dreaming?'
