Meeting Luo Zihan 2

"Do you have a boyfriend?" Luo Zihan asked Xinyi, his gaze intense as he stared at her and noted the way her lashes prettily arched over the top of her barely noticeable cheekbones as she looked slightly caught off guard by his question.

Xinyi blinked, surprised at her date's question for many reasons more than one. If she had a boyfriend, would she be here on a supposed date with another man? Also why did he suddenly ask that question out of the blue?

She wanted to tell the truth that she didn't have a boyfriend, but she decided to tell him she did, just to know what he was getting at because he was one of the very few men she'd met whom she couldn't read his expression. She was curious to know why he asked the question.

"Yes I do." Xinyi replied with a slight tilt of her chin, showing confidence in her response and Zihan cocked his head a little while observing her.

"Oh? Then why did you agree to come on this date?" Zihan asked in a curious tone.

"Not that it concerns you but I was a little bit bored at home."

"I would never take the infamous miss Liu for someone so adventurous that she easily got bored in her own relationship."

Xinyi rolled her eyes at his sarcastic tone. "The tabloids don't know one percent of what my actual life is like, so it wouldn't pay you if you rely on it to know details about me." She scoffed lightly and Zihan nodded, tucking her words into a part of his brain because he would still remind her about it later.

Because now that she mentioned it, he was suddenly curious about her true life and not what he read in the tabloids.

"I understand. I'm sure you wouldn't get bored if you were dating someone like me though." Luo Zihan commented randomly and Xinyi's eyes dimmed a little at the rather unexpected approach.

Was he flirting with her? He definitely was. She wasn't so out of the dating game that she wouldn't know if someone was flirting with her.

Trying not to roll her eyes at his choice of words and the insinuation, Xinyi crossed her legs a little and looked up at him, her gaze intense as she stared him square in the eyes.

"I thought you've read a lot about me online. Didn't it bring my relationship status when you checked? I can see you're pretty curious about my personal life." She stated instead as a form of response.

"I didn't check your relationship status. I've always heard that miss Liu is a honest person and that you always speak truthfully so I intentionally decided to keep that question till the time we meet." Luo Zihan filled in and Xinyi nodded, deciding to just say it as it was.

After all, it wasn't like her relationship status would change anytime soon. For goodness sake, she would probably be heading over to the animal shelter to get two cute cats the next day anyway.

"I don't have a boyfriend." Xinyi finally stated.

"Then would you like to be my girlfriend?" Luo Zihan asked in the next moment, not missing a heartbeat as he admired the baby hair at the side of her ear, noting how it made her look so cute despite the powerful aura emitting off her that told him she wouldn't be an easy nut to crack.

Xinyi was shocked at the question because it was as if he had anticipated her honest confession about her relationship status.

She couldn't even deny it if she wanted to, but Xinyi's heart skipped a beat at his question. It was weird and she mentally told herself that the reason her heart fluttered was definitely because she hadn't expected the direct question.

She didn't want to attribute the fluttering of her heart to the fact that a man had just outrightly and confidently asked her out barely minutes after they met and he'd been staring intently into her eyes.

Xinyi squinted, her heart fluttering again as she looked deeply into his eyes which were still confidently staring intently at her, sighing softly because it was attractive for a man to be so confident in himself and just state what he wanted.

Being in the business field for so long, she'd learnt so much. There was a way she would look at a man and he would instantly feel weak in his knees and if that man had been talking, he would instantly begin to stutter.

But this wasn't the case with this Luo Zihan, who was staring at her like he was ready to accept whatever response she wanted to give.

He was telling her that he wouldn't mind whatever challenge she threw at him, because he would pass them all.

Xinyi blinked. "I've heard a lot about Mr Luo even though I didn't know a single thing about you till tonight."

Zihan cocked his head to the side a little while giving her a look that said she should go on with her words. She eyed his face, still wondering how she couldn't even read his expression. He was an expert at masking expressions.

Xinyi knew how dangerous that skill could be.

"But from all the things I heard about you from your grandma tonight, I didn't take you for someone who would ask a lady out barely after thirty minutes of knowing her." She said smoothly and watched Zihan shut his eyes for a few seconds.

There was something about him that bothered her a little. This man was full of confidence and self assurance and from what she deduced, she would probably be a conquest to be dealt with by him. His sitting posture, the interest shown through his body language and the way he was even observing her through his slightly tilted head said a lot. And he looked like someone that would pursue his aim till he achieved it.

She wasn't ready for such a challenge.

She wasn't sure it would be easy for her to win it.

"I'm everything she said about me. And more." He merely uttered, neither denying or accepting Xinyi's claims.

"Oh." Xinyi had lost interest in the cold tea altogether so she leaned back.

Zihan watched her discretely push the small tray of tea aside and he adjusted his chair so he could cross one of his lean, long leg over the other.

"What would you like to have?" He asked her and Xinyi frowned. She had tea in front of her already, even though it was cold as a dog's nose and she'd lost interest in it.

She looked down at the menu, remembering she'd been so occupied with the thought of leaving earlier that she hadn't gone through it to actually order something she would like.

Suddenly, her phone started ringing.

Xinyi picked it while sending a small smile his way, proceeding to check the caller ID.

She knew it wasn't a good idea to get distracted at her date and she would've entertained the distraction if it was some other time or a date she desperately wanted to get out of but she couldn't deny the fact that she was currently enjoying her time with Mr Luo.

But the caller was also someone who couldn't be ignored.

It was her younger cousin and whenever he called, it meant he was in a big trouble or really needed her help for something urgent.

"Sorry I have to pick this."

"It's okay." Zihan nodded.

"Hello?" She murmured softly and got up, walking over to the glass window which gave a view

Zihan watched Xinyi excuse herself and as she left, his gaze appreciatively trailed over her once again, the hardness in his eyes softening to a considerable amount as his mind drifted off to a long memory he wished to treasure forever.
