Fighting Goku

Ki was the difference between breaking stone with a fist and destroying planets with a beam. It enabled people to do things like read minds, fly, use telekinesis, create clones, and much more.

Yamcha didn't have a perfect memory, so he was bound to forget details about something he'd watched decades before. But he knew the basics about Ki.

Every physical body had a limit, and Ki allowed people to push beyond that. It was the life energy of all living beings, and maybe even something that androids could generate too. With that in mind, Yamcha closed his eyes and tried to sense the Ki within him, reaching for anything that felt unfamiliar. It took only a moment before he managed to sense something, like a small flicker of power.

"That was way easier than I thought."

Maybe it was because he'd known a body without Ki before, or perhaps the Gamer Interface helped. Or maybe this was Yamcha's talent—despite being seen as a weakling, he'd always had some talent compared to other humans.

Though it wasn't overpowering, it was a start. A 5% boost in stats brought his power level from 9 to about 9.5. It was small, but better than nothing. Satisfied with his progress, he stopped to save his Ki for his upcoming fight with Goku.

When Yamcha met up with Goku outside, he was surprised to see the kid cooking a wolf whole without skinning it. "Saiyan taste buds must be something else," he thought, while opening his Quest panel to check the latest addition.

A young man with matchless potential, that's what the young monkey-tailed kid is. Defeat him in a fight.

Rewards: 700 EXP, Dinosaur Cutter Sword.

The rewards didn't matter as much as seeing what a difference in power level looked like and testing his own limits.

"Ready! Go!" Yamcha yelled as he noticed Puar, Oolong, and Bulma watching from the RV. He charged forward, aware that he lacked the experience of the original Yamcha. But adrenaline surged through him, and he went all out.

Pow! Pow! Pow!

Hit after hit landed on Goku, who couldn't react in time. Taking advantage of Goku's short arms and legs, Yamcha threw dozens of blows, ending with a punch to the gut. He kept attacking, knowing his Ki Enhancement wouldn't last forever. Goku stumbled and fell, and with a mighty uppercut, Yamcha sent him flying into the air.

Goku landed, motionless on the ground, and Yamcha hesitated. He worried for a moment—had he killed Goku? Panicked, he rushed over just as the Quest panel flashed.

A quick pulse check confirmed Goku was alive. Relief flooded Yamcha as Bulma ran toward them, a mixture of concern and frustration on her face. "How could you do that?!" she demanded.

"Sorry, I thought he'd be stronger," Yamcha apologized, explaining that Goku only had a bloody nose and a swollen eye. Bulma seemed to soften slightly after realizing he'd been worried too. Together, they carried Goku to one of the beds in the RV.

Later, Yamcha noticed his knuckles were a bit raw, stinging from the fight. "Goku's face is like a rock." He cleaned up, then stepped outside to start practicing the Wolf Fang Fist, going over its moves. With his physical training, he knew he had to improve naturally as well as with skills.

Soon, they were back on the road. When Goku woke up, his first words were, "Ugh, hungry…" He cheerfully told Yamcha, "That fight was fun! I couldn't even react while you beat me down!" Bulma shot Yamcha a disapproving look, and Yamcha chuckled nervously.

Curious, he used Observe on Goku.
