Chapter 248: The Surgery

Qian Zhirou escorted me to the door of the room. "Be careful on your way back, I won't see you out," she said. I nodded and turned to leave.

Once I had descended the stairs, I looked back to see Qian Zhirou standing at the window. When she saw me looking, she waved to me. I nodded in acknowledgment and got into the car.

By the time I got home, it was already nine in the evening. No lights were on in the living room. I groped around in the entryway for a bit before turning on the lights in the living room. The warm light filled the entire room, but it still seemed somewhat empty. I glanced at the shoe cabinet—Zheng Yufei must have been occupied with something as well and hadn't come back yet.

I stretched my limbs a bit and retreated to the bedroom, changed into a bathrobe, and then slipped into the bathroom.

Steam clouded my vision, and I allowed myself to sink into the water, letting it envelop my skin. I lit some incense for myself and poured a glass of red wine.
