Chapter 12: Time Skip and Call for Help

I duck under her sword and thrust my sword just to see her use the sheath of her sword to block my attack. Felicia twists her hands and tries to do a counterattack. However, before she can do that, I swing my sword and jump away from her. She smiles at me and says,

"You grow at a very fast pace, my lord."

"Thank you. It is because I have a great teacher."

She shakes her head and says.

"I might have taught you but your growth is very fast. I proudly admit that you are a prodigy in swordsmanship."

I cannot say that the more progress I make in my template, the more I become a master swordsman like Gintoki. However, I cannot say that to her.

"However! How many times do I tell you that you need to know how to play defensive and not only rely on your attack and speed?!"

Right. Gintoki's fighting style relies heavily on his strength and speed rather than defensive technique. He might be blocking attacks, but it is to do a counterattack rather than a purely blocking attack. His fighting style is like that of a demon, a White Demon.

"I am sorry. I will try to remember to play defensive when the time calls for it."

"Good! Attacking and dodging are good combinations, but one must know how to do defensive fighting as well! Tomorrow, we will train your defensive style once again."

"Sure. Thank you for sparring with me, Felicia."

"Think nothing of it, my lord! I am happy to help."

I nod, and the two of us walk toward our base. I smile a little at the sight of the massive mansion sitting not too far away from the river. Our base is now complete after a couple of months of construction.

We decided to use our previous base but expand by making an underground facility.

After we defeated Serghei and his group, a lot of people wanted to join us. Hell, some of them are villages that want to create a village near our base. Because of this, the Millefiore Family became the lord of the Vindice Village.

If I take the KHR name as the name of my family, I will also take another KHR name for the village under me. Also, it is a fitting name for our organization. Vindice means the avenger, after all.

"How is the village, Felicia?"

"It is doing great, my lord! With our protection, mages from other countries start to appear in this city once again and even create businesses. With them around, we can kill all the wild beasts around the area more easily."

The wild beast Felicia means is the supernatural wild beast. For example, yesterday, they managed to kill a Căpcăun. Căpcăun is a Romanian ogre that likes to eat virgin women and infants. They are strong creatures with thick skin that are hard to penetrate without magic.

Usually, my family members are the ones taking care of them, but with the help of the mage coming here, we can hire them to take care of the problem for us.

"That's good. They are not creating any problems, right?"

"Some of them try, but our men come and kick them out of the village. Sometimes, I wonder why they come here just to create a problem. Can't they see that we just want to create a peaceful place for our family?"

"Don't think of it, Felicia. It is human nature to be stupid. Some people are stupider than others and will cause problems without any reason."

Felician giggles at my words and says.

"Does that mean you are stupid, my lord?"

I give her a cheeky grin and say.

"Of course! I am the stupidest person in this place! I am stupid enough to challenge the ruler of this land openly. If that is not the stupidest action humans can ever take, I don't know what else."

Felicia smiles at me and says.

"Then Luca and I will be the idiot who follows their leader without hesitation."

"That's right!"

The two of us laugh for a few seconds before I say.

"However, I think this world needs someone stupid to rescue it."

The two of us return to the mansion, and I can see Luca talking to the others. As we get close, Luca and them bow at me. I raise my hand and say.

"Please raise your head. You guys did not need to bow at me every time you meet me."

Luca shakes his head and says.

"We cannot do that, boss! You are the Godfather of this family, after all!"

I can only sigh at his words and say.

"Anyway! Is there anything I should know?"

"There is another village that wants to join us, boss."

"Really? Where do they come from?"

"They are from the east, boss. However, they are asking for protection from us as they travel here. They are afraid that, with the war between the Tepes and Carmilla clans intensifying in the north, they will get attacked. They did not have anyone strong enough to fight them when they attacked. They are willing to pay us for this escort mission."

"I see. How about transportation?"

"They already prepared the cars needed for the transportation. We only need to protect them from any vampire who tries to attack them."

"Very well. Prepare twelve people for us to take, two for each flame."

"Eh? Are you going to be the one leading this mission, boss?"

"That's right. It has been a while since I went and had a trip. Prepare the car for us, will you?"

Luca smiles and says.

"Of course, boss!"

An older man looks at the middle-aged man in front of me with fear in his eyes and says.

"I-It is done, sir. They will arrive here, and the leader of the group will be the one leading them. They said that they will arrive just before the sun goes down."

The middle-aged man's grin gets bigger, and his yellow eyes shine in bloodlust.

"Good. Good. Leave"

"Y-Yes!"

He watches as the old man runs away from his room, leaving him alone with his drink.

"The prey slowly arrives without them knowing that this place is a nest of wolves. I love the rush of the hunt, but sometimes, watching them get in a trap has its own rush."

He drinks the whiskey in his hand and crushes the glass.

"The full moon will arrive, and the pack shall have a feast!"

The sound of people shouting in excitement can be heard throughout the village, and it is eerily familiar like wolves howling.
