Chapter 6

"When I opened my eyes, a man stood in front of me. He approached me and said that I may return to life for a second chance at life, but I had to have a consequence of what happened to me: an injury, a permanent reminder of what happened. He gave me two options to choose from: I could choose to return or I could cross over to the afterlife. I picked to return, and he then put some spell on me, and here I am," Tony told Pepper. "Did anyone else get the same option?" Pepper asked to see if Tony knew about the others. "They did; he mentioned four others; he didn't mention who, though, so I don't know Who they are, apart from Natasha, who was probably one of them," Tony told Pepper. "Why Natasha?" Pepper asked to see if Tony remembered what had happened before his death. "He said that all the people who died for a stone or in place of a stone can return; that would include her, as she died and sacrificed herself for a stone," Tony told Pepper. Pepper's phone then suddenly started ringing. "Is it Rhodey?" Tony asked. "No, it's an unknown number," Pepper said, then answered it. "Hello, who is this?" Pepper asked. She listens to the person on the other end of the phone. "Yes, he is; how did you know? We haven't told anyone but Rhodey and Bruce yet," Pepper asked. She listened to what the person said. "I'll ask him," Pepper said. She then put the phone on hold. "I bet it's Fury; he always rings on an unknown number," Tony told Pepper. "Yes, it is actually he wants to know if you can go to a meeting; he said he wants everyone in for a meeting, everyone who came back to life like you did," Pepper told Tony. "Meeting for what?" Tony asked, confused. "Apparently, to make sure and to confirm, you're all on the same side, and none of you are going to go against him or harm him or anyone else," Pepper told Tony. "Has he contacted the others?" Tony asked. "Apparently they've all been contacted and have agreed to come," Pepper told Tony. "Can you let him know I'll go, please?" Tony asked Pepper. "Only if you're up to it," Pepper says. "I'll manage, Pep; don't worry," Tony told Pepper. pepper, then took the phone off hold. "He said he'd come. He's not released until tomorrow. That's as soon as he'll be able to get there. Is that alright?" Pepper asked. She listened to what Fury had to say. "OK, sure, thank you," Pepper says. The line then went dead. Pepper then put the phone back on the table next to her. "He said that's OK; the others are arriving then as well." "I'm fine, Pepper; don't worry; we can get this over and done with, and then we can go home," Tony told her once again, squeezing her hand. She smiled at him and said, "Yeah, that'll be nice."
