Chapter 10
Remus excused himself from the room, leaving Sirius alone with Mr. and Mrs. Potter. The room was silent for a moment, and then Mrs. Potter woke up and noticed that Sirius was awake.
"Sirius, dear, I'm so sorry this happened to you," she said, her voice full of concern.
"It's OK it's not your fault it's my fault if anything I shouldn't of played that prank If I hadn't none of this would've happened and then I wouldn't be injured and you wouldn't of had to go out your way to come here" Sirius told Mrs. Potter.
"don't say that, this is your mothers fault not yours she shouldn't of done what she did to you it's not acceptable a mother should not harm her child ever let alone as bad as she did to you and I've got a feeling that she hurt you before just not as severe and you just didn't want to tell anyone but it's OK now you're not going back there I know you are old enough to make you're own choices but I don't think they would have you back anyway which is a good thing because they don't deserve you" mrs. Potter told Sirius.
"Was it really my father who brought me to your house" Sirius asked.
"Yes it was I was surprised to see him to but he cares about you in his own way he made me promise that I wouldn't tell anyone what happened to you for Regulus's sake I had to make sure he's safe to or as safe as I can make sure but it's OK you can come back home with us and James and you can live there with us if you would like to it'll be much better there than at your house I know it will be difficult for you at first to process what has happened but you have got time and you don't have to decide right now what you want to do" mrs Potter told Sirius.
Shortly later Mr. Potter started waking up.
"you're awake that's good James and Peter will be happy they were up most of the night worrying about you, it's how they are but anyway it's good to see that you were awake and going to be OK" mr. Potter told Sirius.
Sirius nodded, feeling a wave of gratitude wash over him. "I know, I kind of wish I hadn't done the prank then you wouldn't have had to come out here then and worry so much" Sirius told Mr. and Mrs. Potter.
"As I said it's fine don't worry about it you can't turn back the clock, plus The only thing we need to worry about is you and what's going to happen from now you're so young and you have gone through so much you it's a lot for anyone to deal with especially for someone so young" mrs. Potter told Sirius.
There was another moment of silence, and then Mr. Potter spoke up. "We're just glad you're okay," he said, his voice full of emotion. "We don't know what James Peter or Remus would have done if we had lost you."
Sirius felt tears prick at the corners of his eyes. He had always felt like a part of the Potter family, and their love and support meant the world to him.
"Thank you, For everything." Sirius told Mr. and Mrs. Potter.
Mrs. Potter reached over and took his hand. "We love you, Sirius youre like a son to us," she said, her voice full of warmth. "And we'll do everything we can to help you through this." Mrs. Potter told Sirius.
Sirius smiled at her, He knew that he had a long road ahead of him withhaving to get used to a leg brace and learn how to walk Again and with a cane and also no feeling in half your leg but with the love and support of his friends and new family, he felt like he could face it.
As the night wore on, they talked about everything that had happened, reminiscing about old times and making plans for the future. And as he lay there, surrounded by the warmth and love of the Potter family, Sirius knew that he was exactly where he belonged.
