Final Preparations

After the meeting everyone was feeling down. Rick went ahead and set up a dinner for everyone currently staying on the compound. He had it professionally catered, and everyone showed up. It was now a week before Hermes had told Rick the apocalypse would start. During the preparation time period, they had brought everyone's family to the compound. Xiang Fe was easily recruited. He only requested that his kid sister be allowed to stay there and never have to leave the compound. Rick didn't not oppose to this. Xiang Fe could operate many different types of heavy equipment as well as fly planes and helicopters.

Other then that he had built a hangar and a landing strip, he now had two helicopters one that was fast and could get in and out quick. The other was the one Shane had bought. They called it Big Bertha, it could easily hold fifty people and would be used to fly in really heavy equipment. He also had a small two seated plane. It would be used for reconnaissance.

During the months Carl had turned into a little monster, he learned at a frightening pace and was able to keep up the adults in most activities. If it wasn't for his size he may even be able to beat a few of them in a fight.

Rick had sent Merle on some shadier missions. Using Sasha and Xiang Fe. They robbed several pharmaceutical companies, as well as many of the local drug dealers. There was only so much medicine you could buy even with the proper permits and licenses. Using Hermes they learned all of the shipments routes, and picked clean the ones they wanted.

Rick now had over three hundred main employees and their families staying there. The total was just shy of a thousand people. He made sure everyone had basic military style training. Almost everyone that was of age could accurately shoot and had some hand to hand combat training.

After the compound was completed it had the four large apartments that had the main community style center in the middle, the hospital was located behind these. There was the storage and manufacturing side of the compound. This included the warehouses and the armory and building areas for the engineers, the carpenters, the black smith and the weapons guys at the armory. The other side had the more agricultural side. This is where all the gardening will be done, the livestock would be kept, the animal hospital was in a large steel building, and the large indoor greenhouse and hydroponics farm was in this area too. A long the back side of the compound is where the landing strip and hangar was. It is also were they kept all the vehicles and heavy machinery. The had several box trucks, a semi and eighteen wheeled trailer, four bulldozers, a cement truck, and two backhoes. The four ripsaws were located in this area, as well as the humvees and various other vehicles.

Rick was pleased with everything that had been done. They were currently holding a meeting and he ordered the whole compound on lock down. No one could go in or out any longer. He had Hermes begin scouting the areas. They had built a large number of drones, with the 3d printers Rick had ordered. They kept everything in the warehouse and could manufacture or repair them as needed.

As everyone was leaving the meeting, Rick, Shane, Glenn, and Maggie were left behind.

"Now we wait" Rick said as everyone was watching the live feed from the drones.
