The Apocalypse Begins

A/N: Sorry for not posting yesterday. Things got kind of scary. I had not been feeling well and was having difficulty breathing. I do have asthma but normally my inhaler would be able to help. I then got a fever and it was not high, but it was exhausting. I contacted my doctor he told me it was a sinus infection and upper respiratory infection, and my allergies. He originally thought it was covid 19 but I had not been exposed or so we thought. I found out later that evening that one of my coworkers had been sick and was exposed. He came to work sick for two days he left sick early on the second day. He had gotten tested but his results are still not coming back. I was also informed that my work had an emergency crisis meeting. Because my entire crew had been possibly exposed. I spent the evening trying to figure out what my wife and I would do in case I got sick. So that is why my uploads have been slow. I am trying to write a lot and stock up and them just set them to release one or two a day. Please stick with me and I appreciate everyone's comments and feed back.

It had been three weeks since Rick had gone into lock down. The zombies had overran most of the area within the first week. The military was still active, but going by satellite images it could be seen that they were slowly being pushed back. The refugee center in Atlanta was still holding on, however the people inside were essentially marooned. They were trapped on all sides. In the graphic novels or the TV series it was never really shown what a large population city full of walkers looked like. It was completely overwhelming. Rick had to change his plans accordingly to be able to handle this many zombies.

During this time they started to scout resources that could be taken easily. Rick realized that their fuel resources would run out quickly. The power supply to the compound was not reliant on fossil fuels, but their vehicles were. He had a large stockpile of gasoline, but he needed more. They had found several semi tankers on the highway. He would acquire those first.

They had planned to take over Atlanta. With a whole city as a base and resources from the area the group could live safely while slowly expanding. The first step of the plan was to secure a roadway into the city. Rick had decided to take highway 10. They would use the abandoned cars on the roadway and would create a blockade on both sides. Without a supply line to their compound they would potentially be in the same position as the survivors camp. They would then take over the Sheraton hotel, and slowly push inwards while blocking of all side streets.

One week later. It was now time to set out and start reclaiming. The survivor camp had fallen. Rick would have wanted to save them but he had no way to protect so many people so fast, it would have caused him camp to fall as well.

"I need people to head out and start securing the roadway. Daryl I want you to take a group of people and start scouting the area around the compound, Shane go with him. I want you to start near the quarry, there may be survivors camped in the area. As long as they are decent I want you to bring them here." (Rick)

Rick left with the crew that was going to secure the roadway into the city. He had the blacksmiths make shields and spears. He had informed everyone that the walkers should be killed with melee weapons instead. The guns were for the last resort and other humans. He already knew of the existence if men like Negan, The Governor, and Alpha and the whisperers. What really concerned him was the threats he did not know of. He had already changed things, and the ripples had started to spread outwards. All he could do was prepare for the worst.

On the roadway into the city there was a large number of walkers. Rick had his men form a shield wall, There were forty of them and they formed a square. They held the shields in one hand and beat their spears against them. They walkers start to surround them. "Kill them all!" (Rick shouted) The men began stabbing out, they would pierce the head of the walkers and drop them one at a time. It took about thirty minutes but after it was done there was about two hundred dead walkers. It had cost them no men. In the series this would have been unheard of. Afterwards the checked all the dead walkers pockets to collect anything of use. They then moved all the dead to a huge pile and burned them.

The heavy equipment came in shortly after, they would push the cars into a line and stack them. People would them come by and siphon all the gas and take everything of worth from the vehicles. They also found two gas tankers and had them brought back to the compound. It took five days but the had finally made it to the city. At this point Rick and Maggie were standing on the Jackson street bridge that was seen in the show.

"How are we ever going to take all of this? It is too big." (Maggie)

"We have time, and with the more we take the more survivors we can find and house. I plan on sending out messengers once we have taken enough to protect ourselves." (Rick)

Daryl and Shane had returned as well. They found all of the survivors from the quarry. Dale, Amy, Andrea, Ed, Carol, Sophia, T-Dog, and everyone else. They also found a few people in the area, that were recruited to stay as well. Everyone was sent to Dr Khattar for check ups and blood work. Rick would not invite a wolf into his home.

The next day Rick had everyone gather as they prepared to set out to take over the hotel and the surrounding area. For this mission he was going to bring a hundred people. This included Daryl, Merle, Shane, Xiang Fe, Sasha, Jesus, and Carl. Rick wanted to blood the boy early, the world had changed and the sooner Carl could adjust the better. Rick left Maggie in the city to run things while he was away. And Glenn would monitor the area with the drones and radio back to everyone what was going on. The first people to enter the city would be in the ripsaw tanks. They would move around the city creating as much noise as possible and try to draw the bulk of the walkers away from the main group. Then four bulldozers would move in and mow down over any walkers in their path. They had taken some buses they found abandoned and welded metal plating to the sides. The plan was to use the buses as mobile walls until something permanent could be placed down.

The group left at 0500 and made their way down highway 10. Once they passed the blockade into the city. The ripsaws then began to rev up their engines and took off. Any walkers in the area slowly started to follow them being herded away. Next the bulldozers started up and moved in. The walkers started running towards the bulldozers but they were pushed down and crushed with the buckets. Several were caught under the treads and popped like a water balloon filled with blood and guts. The group slowly moved on to Ellis NE ave towards the Sheraton hotel. Anything the bulldozers did not kill the shield men would put down.

After a few minutes they had gotten to an entrance for the hotel. People began to exit the buses. The buses then began to move into position to block off the roadways. The bulldozers would push cars around to block off any alleyways or side paths. After an hour and many more walkers killed the group had blocked off the hotel and secured the roadway in.

"Alright begin to clear the dead, and remember to empty their pockets and check for anything useful. Pile them up over there and we will burn them all. After that we will rest here and move into the hotel to clear the place. We will go room to room and floor to floor until we have secured the whole building." (Rick)

"Hey I want to take some people in and secure the first floor while all this is happening." (Shane)

"That is fine take a few men and Xiang Fe to clear it out. Less fires we will have to start for the dead bodies. Merle take your brother and some others and start scouting there area outside. I need to know if there are other people in the area, and the sooner the better. (Rick)

"Good there is a liquor store down the road I want to check out. Come on little brother." (Merle)

Afterwards everyone was given task and set off to get them done. Rick had called Shane back and told him to take Carl to clear out a few rooms. Jesus was scouting the area with the Dixon brothers. Sasha had chose to stay back with Rick. Whenever she could she would get close to him and make passes at him. Sasha was a very attractive woman, she was 5.10 and weighed 120 lbs, she had nice reddish blonde hair that was shoulder length she kept it in a ponytail. She had long supple legs and nice C cup breast. Rick had reminded her several times he was with Maggie. Sasha would always respond she liked woman too, and didn't mind sharing.

After a while everyone had returned and entered the secure zone.

"Everyone did a great job today. But we have a lot more work to do. Tomorrow we are going to focus on this building and completely secure it. But for now everyone get some sleep. We are going to sleep in shifts, fifty people will stay up and patrol the perimeter. I want people set up on the roof, people patrolling the halls here, and people on the street checking the barricades. We will switch out in six hours." (Rick)

Rick made his way to the room he had set up in earlier. In his bed Sasha was laying there completely naked.

"What are you doing?" (Rick)

"You do not like? I know what you want, and time is short now everyday may be our last." (Sasha)

"I don't want to hurt Maggie. I really do like her." (Rick)

"Why can she not join? The rules before do not apply now. You are the leader of a strong group in the apocalypse. A powerful man, many women will throw themselves at you. You and I both know the world will never be the same. We just need to enjoy everyday. I will handle her when we return. Now come to me." (Sasha)

Rick sighed, smiled, and closed the door.
