Delilah drummed her fingers on the steering wheel, her eyes flicking to the clock on the dashboard. She was parked outside Quinn's Enterprise, waiting for Hunter to finish work.
Her mind buzzed with thoughts of his aloofness earlier in the day. She scolded herself for being worried about it.
This was what she had always wanted, wasn't it? To keep her distance, to not get involved. Yet, his indifference earlier gnawed at her.
A movement at the building's entrance caught her attention. Hunter emerged, his posture stiff and his face impassive. He walked briskly to her car and slid into the passenger seat without a word.
"Hey," Delilah greeted, trying to sound casual. "How was your day?"
"Fine," Hunter replied, his voice flat as he buckled his seatbelt and stared out the window.
She glanced at him, searching for any sign of the charming, flirtatious man she was used to. "Anything interesting happen?"
