Sabrina groaned as she woke up, her body protesting in pain. A sharp cramp twisted through her abdomen, and she curled tighter under the blankets, clutching her stomach. She hated mornings like this— when getting out of bed felt like an impossible task.
The sun barely filtered through the hotel curtains, casting a soft light around the room. She blinked, trying to summon the strength to move, but another wave of pain hit her. Her body ached, and her mind buzzed with the responsibilities awaiting her at work. She knew she had to get up, get dressed, and pretend everything was fine.
But right now, everything was far from fine.
Just as she began to push herself off the bed, a knock came at the door. Sabrina frowned, glancing toward it.
Who could that be at her door so early? Maybe it was hotel staff with something trivial.
