As Damon drove Hunter back to his office, Hunter chuckled softly when he noticed the scowl on Damon's face.
"You're sulking," Hunter said as he eased back into his seat.
Damon' scowl deepened as he glanced at Hunter briefly. "You betrayed me." he muttered, his voice laced with accusation.
Hunter raised an eyebrow, the corners of his mouth twitching in amusement. "Betrayed you? How so?"
Damon turned to glare at him, "Why on earth did you tell her I told you about hearing her cry last night? And you didn't defend me well enough to her. She thinks I'm some kind of jerk."
Hunter let out a full-bodied laugh, shaking his head. "I didn't realize you needed defending," he teased, his voice light, though his eyes flickered with curiosity.
"Of course I did," Damon shot back, his voice edged with irritation. He risked another quick glance at Hunter, his brow furrowed. "She hates me, and you didn't do much to change that."
