Everyone was ready for battle, now we just waited for Hai and his sect to draw out the fairies near the border. I looked toward my soldiers, I could practically feel the excitement oozing off of them, their bloodlust could be felt by all present, I could tell by the way some of Hai's sect backed away farther from my army that they were intimidated.
The majority of my soldiers are human, but they are warriors and warriors do not fear death, they do not fear injuries, and they do not feat the mystical side of the world.
They fear failure, they fear dying a death off of the battlefield.
Sorcerers are something they could never fear.
Han rode over to me and said, "Hai and the others should be done soon,"
I nodded and said, "Do you have a plan?"
"Yes," Han replied and nodded seriously, his eyes were firm
After the war council with Hai, Han astral projected himself to me and explained what Hai is trying to do, and asked for my protection. I told him he isn't worthy and to show his worth today.
Hai road toward us and shot Han a dirty look, "We are ready," he said with a fake smile
"Good, let's begin shall we!" I declared with a wide smile enforcing the idea in his head that I'm just an idiotic barbarian
Hai and four of his sect members rode toward the forest I couldn't hear what they were saying but I could see that they were performing spells while riding.
Riding forwards a little I could make out the silhouette of a couple of humanoid figures popping out of the forest, Fairies are very sensitive to magic so they could feel someone casting spells causing them to want to see what was happening.
I saw Hai make a pulling motion with his hand, suddenly one of the fairies was pulled out of the forest, it had no time to react, hai twisted his hand and the fairy's neck snapped.
I see the other fairies on the edge of the forest launch into battle.
Taking my bow I knocked a pure iron arrow and began to pull it back, aiming carefully I waited until I saw exactly where one of the fairies where.
Suddenly I saw a silhouette right where a barrage of vines launched forward toward Hai, I let go of the arrow and watched as it sailed forward disappearing into the forest. Just as fast as they started to attack the vines stopped confirming my kill.
Fairies are weak against silver and iron which is why the arrows we are using are all pure iron and the weapons are a mix between iron and silver. The weapons we use were already like this but, I made sure everyone knew to use only silver and iron.
The fairies have been in this forest so long they haven't had to face a battle in years, they are inexperienced.
Perfect for a slaughter.
"CHARGE!" I yelled as I rode forward, Amun and Ezra were beside me as I began to ride
Once we were closer to the forest Ezra broke off with his wolf unit and Amun stayed with me. The terrain wasn't the best for our steads but, we could still ride them during the initial charge.
When I finally reached the outskirts of the forest, I felt like I ventured into a different world, it was so strange and magical. Even I a human could feel the magic.
Eventually, I reached a point where I couldn't continue to ride, I hopped off my stead and grabbed a bow and a quiver of arrows in one smooth motion, turning to Amun I said, "I leave the army to you, I need to head toward that tree, I can feel it, what I'm looking for is there," I said pointing to the largest tree
He nodded and said, "what should we do about the sorcerers?"
"If I'm not back by the time they make their move send a burn signal, and if Hai questions where I am tell him I got into a battle frenzy and went off on my own," I replied bluntly while walking off
Once I was out of sight I began to run toward the big tree, suddenly the ground shifted and roots burst through the ground.
*pah!* I managed to cut half of them, seeing I couldn't deal with the rest I dodged toward the roots I already destroyed
*Shink!* "Argh," I wasn't fast enough and a root pierced my leg in between my armor
I stood my ground and surveyed the surrounding trees.
"Hehhehe" a child-like laughter filled the air
I swiveled my head around toward the laughter but saw nothing.
"Hehe, you can't catch me!" the laughter sounded, it was behind me once more
Rapidly turning I threw one of my knives toward the voice, *whoosh* I heard it whiz past several bushes hitting nothing.
"Missed me!" the childish voice goaded me once more
Gritting my teeth I held another knife firmly in my grasp, waiting for the right time to pounce. I saw out of the corner of my eyes several vines moving swiveling my gaze I noticed that multiple vines were moving entrapping me in a circle.
"Hehe die!" the voice that was once childish became demonic
The vines moved too fast for me to react, *puch* *slick* several vines pierced into my body, I was then held into the air vines coiling around my limbs.
The strength of the vines caused me to drop my knife. I felt shame, a warrior doesn't drop their weapon.
A figure walked out of the darkness that was the forest, it was a fairy they look human besides the markings around their face, and the small wings sticking out from their back.
-Narrator pov -
The male fairy walked toward Taban with a demonic glint in his eyes, and a childish smile formed on his lips.
"Well well well, a pesky little human has decided to trespass into my territory!" he said slashing at Taban's stomach
"Arghh!" Taban grunted in pain as a large slash spread across his midsection
"Hehehe scream for me!" the fairy yelled with craze-filled eyes
"Children of nature huh?" Taban said with a lazy tone
"Hehe! That's the others, I was banned to this area because I became a dark fairy!" he said while making another slash on Taban
"Aargh!" Taban grunted in pain again refusing to scream
"Hey human! How about I let you go and you become my slave!" the fairy said spinning around in circles
Taban's temper began to rise but, he held on and replied calmly his tone was cold and unfeeling, "I am a Khan we do not bow, we do not cower, we do not beg, we battle, we conquer, we show no mercy. Do. Your. Worst."
Rage passed through the fairy's eyes, he sneered and began to control the vines, "you don't bow? Then I shall make you!" he yelled making the vines move Taban's limbs into a bowing stance
Having this happen to him something in Taban snapped, rage-fueled him like never before his eyes gained a look of pure fury and madness, and his muscles tensed. Then it happened, the mad khan showed himself.
"RAHHH!" Taban yelled in anger fighting the vines controlling his movements
*snap* vines began to break off of his limbs one by one
The fairy looked alarmed, "What the-"
*SNAP!* the sound of Taban completely breaking out of the vines stopped the fairy from speaking
"RAHH!" Taban yelled as he fell from where the vines held him
The fairy was too stunned to react, by the time he knew what was happening Taban's thumbs dug into his eyes, *shlickkk* "Ahhhhhhhhhh!" the fairy yelled in pain
"PATHETIC!" Taban yelled his voice was beastly as he began to pull outwards with both hands
*shlickk* *crackkk* the fairy's body was ripped in half crimson blood began to spray all over Taban, *thud* dropping the two halves of the dark fairy, he began to walk toward the center tree once more, not sparing the body a second glance.
Elsewhere the sect and Taban's army were fighting off against the fairies, Amun was leading the charge with him being a berserker he was easily able to rampage throughout the battlefield everywhere he went death followed.
Hai and his sect were also doing well, they were casting small spells that were deadly when used properly this allowed them to be faster during combat, and also preserved their energy.
The main battle pulled the attention of many fairies causing them to abandon the central tree leaving a clear path for Taban.
Seeing that more and more fairies kept appearing Hai turned to Chi and nodded, if they wanted to win they had to complete the bond now.
No one noticed chi and the sacrifices branching off into the distance.
Just like no one noticed the cold look Han and his son shared before they both nodded and began their plan.
