Samantha took a deep breath once she made it to the kitchen safely. Though her heart was thumping madly when she saw the man who had intimidated her, her mind had screamed at her to leave the hall before it was too late. And Samantha had chosen to follow her mind, despite her intending to stay in the King's presence for long.
This conflict of interests between her heart and mind puzzled the girl, and she frowned wondering why she was having such contradictory feelings. The King was frightening but his presence made her at ease as though she was finally home, where she belonged. 'What is happening to me?' She thought, standing far away from everyone.
Fortunately for her, Lily had not assigned her the dining hall duties. Samantha was sure that she could never finish her work without fearing what the Lord would do. 'Why can't I stay sane in his presence? Why do I want to run away from him but I don't want to at the same time?'
