Odalis stayed at the castle for a long time until the sun shifted closer towards the horizon, painting the sky a mesmerizing shade of red and orange. Not once did she leave her son's side, taking good care of him. The herbal medicine had taken effect immediately, and Calix seemed much better. Though he was still weak, his face had gained color and he seemed to be in less pain.
"Mother, I am fine." Calix tried to comfort her even though he knew that it would never work on her. How could his mother be comforted by words when her son was soon going to die?
