Survivor(1) ( Volume 5 Chapter 4)

As I left the lost forest behind I could see the village in sight, Cecil had fallen asleep in my arms while I was in the Fort Wayne. It only took me something like twenty-five minutes to cross the lost forest and I had also gone passed the carriage of the duke in the forest which was being chased by the monster.

Those guys would arrive here in I think 1 or 2 hours and will resupply in this village or wait for the reinforcement to come, either way, they will stop at this pioneer village.

I could prepare a warm welcome for them but then I look at the sleeping face of Cecil.

Well no use taking unneeded actions, the Invincible Fort Wayne has already fallen and I also gained a new comrade as Death Lord even though it's just a kid.

I have to see how can I hide her safely in the Royal Capital. Should I leave her in some private inn buy will any inn take someone Shadow Wolf race as their guest or would I have to rely on Rachel's

network again?

As I was thinking all that, I could hear the crushing sound of dry leaves from the forest someone was running through the forest and from how much noise he or she was making too I don't think it was someone chasing me or was that someone confidant enough to make that much noise.

Either way, I can't let my guard down so I put Cecil down and used my [illusion] spell to hide her presence and then faced towards the forest to welcome that someone.

??- " Not much time is left"

???-"Is there no way my mother can be saved, doctor?"

Doctor -" I am afraid you have to take your mother to the holy church in the royal capital"

???-" But that would take three days by carriage and even then I won't know if they will treat my mother."

Doctor-"Though it may look impossible but believe this is the way with the most chances of success."

???-" Which means there are more ways?"

Doctor - " I won't call that a way but if you can get the Ice glory which grows at the Purple ruins inside the Lost forest there is a chance to save her but you would have to hire a gold rank adventurer as an escort and putting up a request now would take too much of time and I don't believe you have the means to pay for the cost"

Well the doctor is right we were living happily but we aren't what you would call rich. My father was a hunter and he was the strongest in the whole villages but he died while defending the village from a monster attack when I was just a kid.

I have been living all alone with my mother, We were spending our lived frugally but happily until

my mother collapsed one day.

I immediately contacted the author and now he is standing in front of me and saying that my mother who was always there to support me for so many years would die in just three days and I can do basically nothing to save her.

Later in the night after the doctor had left I looked at the sleeping face of my mother, after packing some food and water in my bag and the holding the spear my father used to use for hunting. I left the house and went into the Lost forest to search for Ice glory to save my only family in my world.

I was in front of the purple cave-like structure from what the doctor told it was the purple ruin.

The people said that the Lost forest is dangerous and anyone below Gold rank adventures would die here. they couldn't be more wrong I did encounter some monster but if I just hide for some time and let them pass they do not pose much danger and now I just have to get the Ice glory and my mother could be saved.

After searching for some time I could see an ice blue coloured flower on the top of the cave ceiling.

I tried to climb the wall of the cave but I couldn't get a good footing and slip and injured my

left foot. while I fell down I saw some vines going to the top not far from where I stood.

I started to climb with the support of the vines and after two attempts the blue coloured flower was in my hands.

The blue coloured flower was very beautiful but more than that it mysteriously attracted me it was cold but it was giving off a strange feeling of warmth and was attracting me.

I simply was gazing at the blue flower until a sound brought me back to reality

" Gruguahaha"

I immediately kept the flower in my back and prepared my spear for combat.

There was a small humanoid monster standing there. Its skin was a light green. Its mouth was so wide that its corners reach its pointed ears, and I could see its uneven teeth. Its limbs were quite short but the claws were sharp. It's lower half was only barely covered with a waistcloth.

I knew what it was… A goblin.

They were said to be not strong and could be defeated by someone skilled in fighting.

"GRIGUHA"

The goblin screamed and charged at me with a knife in his hands.

Without wasting any time I thrust out the spear as the goblin came rushing towards me again. It was exactly as the image that had appeared in my brain. The end of the spear shot straight through the stomach of the running goblin.

To not give the goblin a chance to counterattack I retracted my spear from the goblin's stomach and I plunge the spear deep into its neck. The goblin convulses violently as my foot presses down on its back and I pull out the spear. For a second, a fountain of blood erupts from the hole but quickly subsides. The foot that I had placed on it was drenched in blue blood.

I sighed in relief that the danger had passed until I heard those sound.

"Griguha"

"grigu?"

" ge ge ge"
