Chapter 28: Hello brother
The fourth prince's full name was Merthic M. Liam.
He was twenty-two years old and the fourth in the throne's succession. The man didn't have ambitions for the throne, but his purpose was to become one of the greatest generals in the Merthic Empire.
This desire was kindled by both his mother and grandfather!
Liam's grandfather was one of the strongest generals, so one could say that his goals had been written in his blood ever since his birth.
The fourth was a man with inborn valor and great looks. He had long silver hair, thin eyebrows, and smooth skin that seemed to make him delicate, but those features usually would fade away with the sword in his hands.
Some people could throw him off from such a prominent path, though.
"Hello brother," The fifth said as he looked at his brother with a bright smile. He was together with his mother and maid that both exuded so much appeal that the soldiers stopped their rigorous training.
Their eyes landed on the concubine and the white-haired maid while ignoring the fifth prince.
Fortunately for them, the fourth instantly retorted, "What brings you here, little brother?" His words were as sharp as his blade, so the soldiers from his division closed their eyes as fast as possible and returned to their initial work.
Liam's reaction made Celes flinch.
She looked below like the weak woman she was and even caressed her belly to show that the fourth could do nothing to her!
Now that she had seen Vis' blunt opinion on her, Liam's eyes were as if explained and she knew that he thought the same of her.
All she had was just her looks and nothing else.
The same went for her son and probably that maid who should've already felt the emperor's shaft.
How could Liam display any other reaction than just scornful eyes?
If Vis wanted, then he could only argue about his looks, but then his height would come into the play and make him lose any verbal battle.
He wasn't a person to care about such things, though, "We are here to help our future royal descendant," Vis began the speech since Celes already had been stressed too much!
At least she began to learn more about this world and the royal family… It was certainly different to know and to feel one's opinion.
Liam's eye twitched, "Future royal descendant?" He wanted to add 'Another failure?' but he composed himself and just glanced to the side.
The appearance of these three shouldn't trouble anyone here and if it should, then the soldier would just close their eyes if necessary.
Liam also had nothing to hide and those people wouldn't benefit from him anyway.
"Are you one of those people that believe the mother's experiences during pregnancy would help the child's future?" Liam hit the wall with his back, then drunk the cold water after asking this question.
Vis instantly answered, "It should help, even if a little. All those soldiers use the treasures out of our Merthic Empire and the royal descendant with Titan God's bloodline should unconsciously react to it, even if he's still in the belly."
Even though Vis knew that he shouldn't react like that nor should he show any brazen sides, there was part of him that simply refused to be all nice to the fourth prince.
He added, "I believe big brother's mother also used to visit her father's barracks often… I think that's what we heard," Vis glanced at his mother and she belatedly nodded a few times.
The fourth couldn't help, but recollect his thoughts, "Even if this is true, I think you are forgetting something, little brother,"
Liam smiled widely, "My mother knew what those soldiers were doing. I wonder if Miss Celes knows what 'retreat' means?"
'Hey there, you mommy boy-' Vis spoke inwardly, but his mother actually responded to these words.
She made herself a victim, "Of course I know what is retreat. How could I not?" She looked at both Vis and Liam with her big eyes and blinked a few times rapidly while displaying the appearance of a wronged woman.
Celes just did it naturally, but both Liam and Vis had their eyes darkening.
It seemed like shadows covered their eyes and no silver jewels could be seen!
Both of them clenched their dominant hands tightly, clearly wanting to slap this woman's face hard.
'You stupid woman.' Vis inwardly shouted and glared back at Celes after Liam turned his head to the side.
His eyes instantly sprouted the sown fear within Celes' heart.
"Little brother," Liam decided to change the topic then. He also kept calling Vis with such a title which would be fine in any different circumstances, but Vis was just a small man and Liam's voice was laced with mockery each time he said it.
"What is it?" Vis didn't show any reaction to it, his smile as natural as possible.
"It seems like your little adventure wasn't that useless at all. You finally can speak with your head high. I always felt like someone made a mistake since you had used to talk with your eyes glued to the ground," Liam was not only ridiculing Vis and Celes. He also felt like this change was good for the royal image.
After all, Vis was already engaged to the fourth princess from another empire. There were just some formalities left…
Vis sighed after hearing this, though, "It's been hard, but thanks for your concern. I can't help, but share something with my big brother as well… I think big brother drinks too much water. If you suddenly leave the bathroom, all those soldiers will stop their training and open their eyes… This is not the problem, but if big brother stays here for too long…"
"That's not necessarily bad, little brother. Generals not only plot against their enemies but also against their people. If they get too horny, then I might as well offer them alluring maids from my household. What do you think? Would it make them work harder?"
"Oh, it would," Vis replied, "Men are so simple, aren't they? It also applies to our Royal Father, doesn't it?" He glanced at his mother.
For the first time, Liam smiled genuinely, "I can only agree with my little brother," He also laughed, but it was solely directed at Celes.
But Vis' mother just flapped her mesmerizing eyebrows and tilted her head causing the two brothers' face to distort yet again.
Vis also couldn't keep it anymore and hit the wall, "I am sorry, big brother. My hand just slipped."
"Don't sweat over it, little brother... Those barracks were formed with the purpose to train our soldiers until they fall unconscious. Those walls can withstand even the general's strongest technique. I also understand you," Liam, for the first time, didn't ridicule Vis, but allied with him.
What was the worst was that the second concubine just smiled sweetly and enjoyed their talk.
Both brothers just looked at her with disgust, then Liam took his sword, "It's time for the spar. Let's hope that the future descendant will be able to wield a sword. I might exchange some guidance with him in the future," Liam''s tone hurt Celes, so it was clear he was sure her second child would be the failure too...
"Big brother. Will you also organize mock battles between your soldiers?" Vis used the good mood between him and the fourth to ask this question.
The army battle might help him and his ability, so he was hoping to see it the most.
Liam thought for a little, then said, "For the future royal descendant, haha," He laughed so much… "I will organize one."
Vis just clapped his hands, "We will be in your care then, big brother!"
After Liam went to spar with his soldier one versus one, Vis locked his eyes on him and aimed to see his abilities… He wanted to see to what Titan's origins Liam's sword would resemble!
But inwardly, he also thought, 'He's known for being a good commander, so he must use some tricks and abilities. If those help me get more abilities, then I should consider visiting his mother. It's pointless to ask him for guidance, but it's different with women. She might take pity in me and I will leverage on that… It's not only men who are simple, big brother."
