The heavy silence in the classroom was broken when Anna swallowed nervously and timidly raised her hand.
"Teacher... I didn't bring my backpack with my notebooks," Anna confessed in a nearly inaudible voice, feeling all eyes turn to her in an instant.
Making this kind of first impression in front of everyone... it was mortifying.
As Anna tried to recall the morning, she wasn't even sure if her friends had had their bags when they met and walked over together. Part of her thought they did, but since she'd been running late and had her mind on other things, she hadn't noticed. Another part of her thought maybe they hadn't, which is how she'd ended up in this situation.
Either way...
She didn't have her bag.
The teacher looked at her with a clear expression of disdain, frowning and huffing softly, as murmurs from her classmates began to fill the room.
"How could she forget her stuff?" one kid whispered, barely holding back a laugh.
