Chapter 25: Whispers

General Lu was diligent and fast in his work. He immediately killed the other generals without remorse. He could already picture his future. He then killed also the families of the generals since he did not need distractions of idiots trying to kill him in the name of revenge.

"The Demon Lord will get angry at this," Lu Ren Wei said as he wiped the blood of whoever he killed right now with a smirk stuck on his face. "Well, maybe if I get him the damn stone he will let it pass," he said as he thought about how was he going to look for a stone that no one has ever seen.

The Demon Clan had many spots where the stone may be hidden. Lu Ren Wei tried to think where he should begin searching without raising suspicion of the other Demon Clan members.

He should first begin by studying better the myth. Maybe somewhere in the Demon Lord's library, there is a written version of the myth that could have a clue of where the Founder hid the stone.

Lu Ren Wei did not even think and teleported back to the Demon Lord's palace. Lu Ren Wei then told a servant to announce him to the Demon Lord. The servant hurriedly went to tell the Demon Lord.

You Xie was in his study when the servant came to tell him that Lu Ren Wei was waiting for him outside.

"Tell him to come in," the Demon Lord said.

Lu Ren Wei did not want to look too excited, so he tried to make his steps calm and slow as he entered the study and greeted the Demon Lord again.

"Do you bring me good news, General Lu?" You Xie asked uninterestedly.

"I have already cleaned the trash," Lu Ren Wei said, "I wish for your Majesty to let me use the library. I want to search if there is a written version of the myth."

You Xie just gestured with his hands for the general to go. He did not care how, but he needed the stone. The library at the Demon Lord's palace was full of prohibited spells, but it was not as if any of them could use it since they were all cursed with the binding spell.

"I promise I won't disappoint, your Majesty," Lu Ren Wei said as he went out.

"Better not, only if you want to end up as your comrades," You Xie said seriously.

Lu Ren Wei went to the library; it was all covered in dust since no one used it. He knew it will take him days to find if there was any written version of the myth or a hint.

"At least, everything is in pleasant conditions if you remove the dust," He said as he blow out the dust of one of the scrolls to see what it was about.

After a few hours of opening and closing scrolls, Lu Ren Wei was still not even close to getting any clue of where the Founder hid the stone. He was not even done with one-third of the scrolls that were in the library. Most of them were the boring history of the Demon Clan. Then as he was about to call it a day, a scroll fell down to the floor, and as he picked it up to read.

"Double Soul Spell?" He read.

Curious by the spell, he started reading the scroll. Apparently, the double soul spell was a forbidden spell that could make an immortal keep two souls in the same body. The dormant soul slowly absorbing the energy of the other soul.

"This thing may work as a backup plan in case the stone isn't enough," Lu Ren Wei thought. He considered that in case the Demon Lord's coup d'etat did not work, he could at least seal his spirit in one of the Demon Clan members to revive him later. He did not really want to revive the Demon Lord, but if this plan of him with the stone failed, then Lu Ren Wei would have 0% of probability of winning alone against another revolt toward the Sky Clan.

He stayed a bit more and memorize the spell. He should also convince the Demon Lord to learn how to undo the binding spell before going to war, after all, he could not cast such a big spell with the binding spell in him.

He memorized the spell, and just as he was about to leave, he heard a voice whisper, "Yao Ling Mountain..."

"Who's there?" Lu Ren Wei shouted to the empty library. No one was in the library, yet he was sure someone had clearly whispered to him Yao Ling Mountain. Why would someone mention Yao Ling Mountain? There was nothing there, just demon beasts that runs rampant. It was so dangerous that even though it was in the Demon Clan territory, no one dared to go there.

"Is the stone hidden there?" Lu Ren Wei asked to the air hoping for whoever whispered to him to answer, yet no one answered back.

He knew it was suicide to try going to the mountain, but he did not really have an option. There were no answers in the library and to look around all the Demon Clan will be a foolish move.

Lu Ren Wei decided to ask the Demon Lord for people, and they should start an expedition at Yao Ling Mountain, hoping that whoever whispered to him that was right.
