DEAL WITH THE DEVIL- 1

KING

I could feel Cameron and Gabriel's hesitation as I got in the car. They had already wasted much of my time, and now I wanted to take the thing in my hands. The driver started the car and we hit the road to meet Miss Maxwell- a ball of fire as Cameron described.

'Let's see now Miss Maxwell, how do you fight KING?'

The six cars stopped in front of a one-storey house. The engines cut off and the only thing that helped in the darkness of night was the brightness of the headlights. My men stepped out of their vehicles, already aware of what they needed to do.

I glanced at Cameron and Gabriel's faces to see they have given up on trying to stop me.

Good for them!

One of the men pulled out a gun from his waistband and aimed it at the window. I saw the lights burning inside the house. They were awake.

He fired a shot, and the glass shattered with a loud crash. My ears ring with the scream of the kids giving me the satisfaction that I needed. The other men followed and the very next moment, they showered the whole house with their bullets.

Gabriel and Kyle marched towards the front door and within the next few seconds, I saw the wooden piece falling on the ground with a loud thud, followed by more screams from the kids.

But where was she?

I didn't hear her voice. I heard a man's voice, Benjamin it must be, but not hers.

I wanted to see if her tongue runs in front of me as fast as it did with my men!

I remained in my car, watching with great interest as Gabriel dragged her out of the house by her hair. I couldn't see her face clearly because of my dark shades, but I could see her struggling and trying to throw a punch at him.

But he seemed quite prepared this time as he didn't give her any chance to do so. He pushed her to the ground, and she fell hard on her knees and palms. She looked up at him and began throwing profanities at him but was stopped only by a slap from Cameron.

Good!

He must have done that before! If he had, then I wouldn't be here wasting my precious time on a petty girl!

Five of my men surrounded the kids, separating them from the old man. My jaw clenched, hearing the irritating sound of their crying. If they were not kids, then I would have put the bullets through each of their heads for giving me a headache with that noise!

My attention was distracted from them when I heard Kyle falling on his knees, bellowing in pain.

"Don't laugh at my kids when they are crying"

Did she just kick him?

She was rewarded with a good punch in her gut, and she fell to the ground groaning in pain.

Enough of this!

I finally stepped out of the car and stood at some distance from her. She had her head hung down as she tried to absorb the pain.

She clutched her head with her hands and supported her body on the two knees. She must not have sensed my presence and the obvious chilly silence that fell upon everyone. Even her kids shut their mouths for good!

Cameron stepped ahead and grabbed her hair and tugged hard. Finally, I could see her face though she closed her eyes tightly.

Her dark long locks looked unruly, matted to her forehead and cheek. Her tear-stricken cheeks and the tip of her nose looked red. She was in pain... so much pain. I could tell that by looking at her.

But she was too stubborn to not let her face show anything. But her pink lips... they betrayed her as they quivered slightly, and for some reason, my gaze lingered on them for a moment longer than necessary.

My eyes shifted again to her eyes, but they were still shut. I wanted her to look at me during this conversation because, in my opinion, the eyes are the weakest part of a human.

They give away so much at the wrong time. They are the window to one's mind. And studying the person's eyes always gives me an upper hand over them!

"Open your eyes" I commanded, but she refused.

I took a long drag of air through my nose.

'King doesn't like to repeat himself!'

Yet I tried again "Open your eyes, Bria Maxwell" and she refused again.

Alright then!

My man slapped one of the girls, and her scream made her eyes fly open. The moment, her eyes landed on me, a weird sensation hit me in the face like a gust of cold wind.

Those chocolate brown orbs had tears pulled in them and the only emotion they held at that moment was... fear!

And I liked it!

I noticed how her cheeks looked red and swollen after receiving numerous slaps and a black eye. My jaw ticked, looking at her swollen eye.

'I will need to know who did it!'

She kept staring at me with a passive face. The intensity of her gaze was unexplainable. People feared me, and shit their pants at the mere sight of me. And here was this twenty-year-old girl on her knees, living her last moments of this life yet wasting them staring at me without blinking.

Wasn't she scared at all?

"Are you done?" Gabriel's amused voice cut her from her inspection.

"wh-what I had done?" She blinked dumbfoundedly.

"Your eyes were bulging out of their sockets and you were drooling like you have seen a delicious piece of meat, which according to 99.87% of people is considered as ogling or checking out a hot man."

I hate that smart mouth of his!

But his words left an amusing effect on her. Her face flushed in deep pink as she avoided meeting anyone's eyes.

I sighed in displease.

Women!

They are difficult to understand!

"And one more thing. The man you were just ogling is none other than KING!"

And that made her blush drain from her face as she gawked back at me with mouth agape.

"Who the hell are you?" I heard an angry voice coming from the direction of the old man, but my gaze remained on the ball of fire in front of me.

"Watch your tone old man!". A scream escaped her lips as blood spurted out of Benjamin's mouth after receiving the consequences of disrespecting me.

"How dare you hit him, you rascal? Leave him and the kids. You got business with me then talk to me. I swear I will make you regret ever setting your foot in my property if you dare to touch any of them. You don't have any idea who you are messing with!" She seethed in anger. Her voice came strong and menacing.

To be honest, I was amused! I had not expected her to be that brave... or fool!

She directed her heated gaze at me, and the disgust in her eyes didn't settle well with me. I tilted my head and Cameron got the order.

He began reciting all her details for me as I didn't bother to look into her file before.

Because I didn't think that I would be standing here to get only fucking signs!

Sometimes I thought that I was wasting my hard-earned money on an army of idiots!

"Bria Maxwell. Wasted twenty years of her life doing nothing to be proud of, like looking after 'people's mistakes'. Owner of this house, a small café and property surrounding it. Completed her high school and now taking online courses to complete graduation as she could not afford the college fees because she has spent all the money her parents left for her to look after them. See we know who we are messing with!" He said the last part directing at Miss Maxwell.

"Don't!" her voice came as a whisper.

He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion "Come again". He leaned closer to her to hear what she was saying.

Before anyone of us comprehends anything, she pulled him down to the ground and swung her right leg, tightening it around his neck. She punched him repeatedly, shouting in frustration with angry tears running down her face.

"Don't you dare to call my kids as mistakes. They are not mistakes. They are my family. Understand, you pukeface?"

Her loud screams shook the air around me, heating me in aggressive waves. I watched as Cameron's face bled, yet she didn't stop.

She didn't get so furious when he slapped her, and hurt her both physically and verbally. But when he said a single word against those kids- which I personally believed in- she broke all the restraints.

Why?

Gabriel pulled her away from Cameron by her waist, but she was uncontrollable.

She didn't pay any heed to the screams of her family, who told her to stop. She was blind in anger.

So now I had to step in because again, she was wasting my time!
