Chapter 2: Annoying Guy

The very next day, Mom decided to visit the schools in town. We stop by the private schools first. Only to feel disappointed. One's building is too old, while the other school looks mediocre. Both schools look shabby at first glance. So, we decided to look into public school. What caught my eyes was the twin Acacia tree. It gives off a mystical vibe.

The moment I got down the car, I caught the attention of some outsiders. Probably because they think I am of foreign blood. My biological mother is a Filipina with a mix of Spanish blood, while my father was a Filipino- Chinese. I do have fair skin and a pair of monolid eyes. I don't want my Mom to attract more attention. So, I decided to process my enrollment myself. My cousin also needs to enroll. She will be studying where I'll be.

"Mom, Can I just bring along my documents?"

"Sure. Just come back if you need to pay anything. Do you want your Uncle Danny to help you enroll?"

"No. I can do it."

"Alright. Just call us if you need anything. We'll go to the market first."

After they left, I entered the school gate and greeted the guard. My cousin crossed the street to buy snacks.

" Good morning, May I know where the registration office is?" The guard looked a bit surprised. Before he could answer, a student wearing a Girl Scout uniform walked up to us.

"Are you a new student?" she said while smiling. She looks friendly.

"Yes. I will be studying here."

She then leads me to a teacher that is handling the enrollment. The teacher asked me to introduce myself.

"My name is Sophia Luna, twelve years old... the reason why I wanted to transfer here is that we moved here." She just nodded and smiled. Afterward, she asked me to help tidy up the function hall as she processed my papers. When I entered the room, someone wearing a mask was stacking the chairs up. He feels distant. Like he was avoiding me. I sweep the floor and dust the windows. While I was dusting, another teacher called me.

"Sophia Luna. "

"That's me, Ma'am."

"Alright. We have discussed and decided to place you in Section A."

When the other students heard the teacher, they were stunned. Later on, I found out that the school gives special treatment to Section A students. Also, they don't place transferees directly in Section A. They were supposed to be in the regular class and be transferred to section A if they were worth it. So, this may sound like someone pulled a string for me to enter the distinguished Section A.

"Okay, Ma'am. When will the classes start? "

"This coming Monday."

"Alright. Thank you, Ma'am."

"You're welcome. Welcome to Panglao High!"

She then handed me a piece of paper to be submitted to the teacher on my first day. My task was light compared to my cousin. She needs to plant a flower-bearing plant and sweep dried leaves. I decided to wait for her under the big Acacia tree.

As I was sitting there, a familiar face entered the school with headphones on his neck. He was wearing loose black pants and a loose long-sleeve with a black backpack. At first glance, he looks fashionable. He looks familiar, but I can't recall where I met him. Suddenly, someone from the crowd ran to him for a picture together.

I can't help but snort.

"Tss... Show Off!" With that, I retracted my gaze from the guy that seemed to enjoy his fame. I took my eyeglasses and iPad from my bag and opened Notes. I feel somewhat annoyed for no reason. Then, I typed the word~ Him.

I can't help but feel annoyed by your charm

I know liking you can only bring me harm

Just by looking at your eyes, I feel alarmed

It felt as though you got me unarmed.

It's hard to think when I see your smile.

I even imagined myself walking down the aisle.

Now I know that you are indeed vile,

Someone I need to stay away for a mile.

You are someone I shouldn't dare like

Maybe you're just a psych

It is safer for me to harbor dislike,

And not feel infatuated with your likes.

But the more I tried to doubt it

The more I realize that this must be fate.

Trying to knot a string tighter on its ends

You at the other, me on the other end.

It may sound crazy but today you got me

It is my heart that yearns for you to see

Me~

After writing, I read the poem again. Only to realize how unstructured it was. I wondered how I sounded like a fangirl. I mean, that guy was annoying.

I was too immersed in writing the poem. When I looked at the hour, it was already past three. I can't help but gasp. I wonder what's taking Mom so long. I just want to go home and read the novel I bought with dad. I was too busy sorting my things last night and forgot about it.

My cousin sat beside me with a wide smile. I raised my left eyebrow and send her a judging look.

"What's wrong with you? You look like a clown." I said with a mocking tone. Then she started giggling. She looks like a psycho or something. The moment I answered, she looked rather shock.

"Haven't you seen how many handsome guys walk in through that front gate? Vitamin C Gurl!" She exclaimed. This girl was really shameless plus her tone. Goodness! I just wanna hide right now. But I need to look calm alright?

"Vitamin C is also known as ascorbic acid. It is indeed good for your body. You need it really! I think you're insane." Then I snob at her.

"Tss... you're hopeless! You know what? If I'm as beautiful as you, I will really dress beautifully!"

"I'm 13! So shut up." Then I looked away.

"You look like 16. You're even taller than me! And crazy rich too."

"Am not. I am normal. Please shut up cuz. Stop nagging me"

"Alright! Just keep in mind what I said." Then, she ran back towards her newly meet friends.

Her name is Nam, 15. She's beautiful and quite the shy type but whenever it's just us, she's annoying and talkative. She grew up in the modeling industry and has quite that hourglass body. She looks seductive and her deep-seated eyes accented her Spanish- Filipina beauty. Nam is graceful and exudes a vibrant and appealing aura. She's quite a head-turner though. Her looks is somewhat the younger version of my Mom. Their both beautiful and looked like a mother-daughter pair. The only difference is their skin color. Mom has fair light skin while Nam's skin is a bit darker in shade. Talking to her is exhausting. I would rather write a thousand words a day than speak more than 500 words per day. Do you know what I mean? Am not quite the talker.

As I was thinking random things, someone sat beside me. A guy wearing an earphone. Suddenly, a flash from a camera caught my attention. You know the next thing that annoys me most? It's the camera. I hate my pictures being taken. I looked in the direction where the flash came from.

"Shocks! I'm sorry." Then the girl ran.

"Stalker." The guy said in a low voice. He sounds really cool. He turned his head and looked at me. Now I know how he gained such a stalker. He looks rather handsome. On his side, there is a guitar. I thought, maybe he's popular. Anyways, I was already staring at him and raised my left eyebrow again. It's like my precious form of response.

"Oh... Okay" Then, I looked away. He looks rather stunned too. I felt like we shared the same reaction.

"Are you a transferee? New student?" He asked.

"Yeah. I transferred here with my cousin"

"Oh" I looked at him and saw his smirking face.

He was now looking at his phone. I stared at the guitar and grow curious. I miss playing the guitar. He caught me staring at it and asked

"Do you know how to play it?"

"A bit. But I ain't good."

"Well, let's meet here again on your first day. Lunchtime. I'll play for you. I can also teach you." I don't know him but, he looks trustworthy though.

"Alright. See you then."

"Do you have a guitar? "

"I don't have one"

"Alright. Don't worry about it" Then, he smiled.

Before I could respond my uncle/ our driver honked. We both looked at the car and saw my uncle smiling like crazy in the driver's seat. He rolled down the window before honking so he obviously have seen me talking to this stranger. I feel uncomfortable at the moment. I know just how cheezy my uncle is. I am thinking of all the possible ways he can tease me. The worst will be, showing off a photo of myself and a stranger to my Dad. Then, my dad will tease me nonstop. This is really giving me a headache. I was in a daze when the guy spoke.

"Your car is here. You should go."

"Yeah. See you then."

Creation is hard, cheer me up!
