Chapter Fourteen

The stairs ended up in a small room. There's one light on the ceiling. It doesn't provide us to see the room at full scale. But I can tell that it's a small room. There's a metal table at the side. There was nothing on it except a stack of empty cards placed in a container, and also a marker.

'What now?' mom asked.

My dad kept looking around the table. Then he turned to look at us thoughtfully. Was he asking us to figure out as well?

'Give me your spacesuit, I need the light stick' he asked. Oh okay, he just wanted to look at us first before stating his motive. I hope I look okay though. I felt like a mess. My clothes were still wet. I opened my bag and took out the damp spacesuit. It's starting to smell. That's what you get for not drying a wet object and just let it stay damp in another object. Dad spreaded the spacesuit on the ground and removed the light sticks from its pockets. He cracked one into two which turned them on. He held the sticks on the wall, slowly moving right to left searching for something. We were observing closely too. At one part of the wall, a small inscription is written "take one card, write your family name, place all your objects except personal belongings on one side of the table, leave the written card on your object, shout the words if you know it".

'Okay quick, follow the instructions' dad said. We removed our bags and placed them on the table. We made sure all our personal belongings are with us. Dad took one card and wrote Adams on it. He placed the card on his bag and stepped back. Then what? I don't understand the last part of the inscription. "Shout the words if you know it"? Maybe dad knows. I looked at him. He seemed to be thinking hard. But since he's a part of this, he should know it. He just needed to recall.

'The Sphere of Dustromedian!' dad shouted all of a sudden. The cave vibrated. And the wall behind us parted, moving to the side and blocking the stairs beside fully. Behind the wall was some sort of an office. Or maybe a reception. A desk was arranged at the middle, in front of a metal double-door. Three comfy chairs placed at it. One on the door side and two more on the other. Like the arrangements at the principal's office. A blue carpet is underneath it. The rest is stone flooring. The walls are painted in blue. Basically most of it is in blue. Bright lights illuminated the room from the top and bottom corners of the wall. There's someone sitting at the table. A man in a combat suit. He looked at us the moment the wall stopped moving. He smiled. A very kind smile.

'Welcome Mr Adams' he got up from his seat and invited us in. We went in, following dad. 'Do take a seat'

Mom and dad sat down on the two chairs.

'You both can sit there' he pointed at one corner of the room, a small comfortable-looking couch rested there. I did not realise that earlier. We went to sit down as the man spoke to our parents. I only heard him introducing his name as Nova and aside from that only a few words scattered. Because I was too busy looking around the room. Some objects I've never seen before except just heard of it. Like the computer on Nova's desk. And the television attached to the wall on one corner of the room. We don't use those electronics anymore. We now have the screen, a smart technology that actually needs the power of the sphere. I think the word for it is antique. So I was attracted to the shapes of it. Simple but technology. I think dad's gonna love it here. He's old school anyways. Who am I kidding, he's already a part of this. We're gonna see a lot of old school people in here. I guess that's just my opinion. The television caught my attention. Because it was showing the small cave room where we put our bags earlier. Nova was watching us. That's so cool. At least we can trust the security here. Another thing that caught my attention even more is a strange large symbol on the blue wall. It was painted in white. I can't really describe it. It's very complex. I could make out a diamond, the letter "h", and yeah that's it. I couldn't exactly say the rest. It definitely is more than just a diamond and a "h". I pulled my eyes off the wall and shifted them to my parents and Nova.

'I'll pass your story to the chief. But for now I hope you rest well here. The Sphere Order thank you for your contribution and we are happy to have you on board. Enjoy your time here Mr Adams. Our mission is not ending anytime soon.' Nova said, kindly smiling as he spoke. 'I'll have someone bring your bags to your bay later. Yours is bay fifteen'

He handed a card to my dad. It's a white card with two small digits printed on it. I guess that's the number fifteen.

'Thank you Sir Nova' he said, taking the card. Mom looked at us and signalled that we're about to move. We got up and walked to them. Nova got up from his chair and keyed in a passcode on the security button beside the metal door. A green light appeared on the reader and an approval sound. The doors unlocked and opened inwards into a short walkway that leads to a plastic double-door. I guess the material name for it is polyvinyl chloride. This place seriously have lots of entrances and securities to go through.

'Just tap your bay card in the reader there and the doors will open' Nova pointed. Dad nodded, understood. We made our way to the plastic door. I was excited. I am extremely curious about what's behind the door. There must be a whole world down there. I'm just exaggerating. I'm so excited to see if Norman or Orion was there already. I hope they both are. The doors have words in the middle that will break up when the doors open. It says "Warhem Base". I guess this is the name of the base here. Dad mentioned earlier that there are a few rebellion bases in Dust. Alright, let's get in our base and our bay. And have a good rest. I desire sleep right now. Dad scanned the key card and the doors opened.
