Chapter 5 - Zombie Apocalypse

BOOOOOOM

BOOOOOOOM

BOOOOOOOOM

Three anti-tank guided missiles hit all three zombie dragons. Each explosion sounded closer than the previous.

Fortunately, the missiles carved large chunks of their bodies into oblivion, leaving them free-falling into the zombie horde.

'They definitely act like a hive mind. There's no way the zombie dragons would work with zombie humans unless the parasites have a way to distinguish or communicate with each other.'

RATATATATATATATATATAT

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTT

BANG BANG BANG BANG

There was a substantial amount of bullets unloaded all at once towards the craniums of the fallen zombie dragons, which eventually killed them all.

I looked left and right, and it seemed that there were no problems with our guys. We were smoothly killing the zombie horde.

"KEEP FIRING!!!!"

I ordered them.

I too was shooting through these guys' heads with an assault rifle.

As the zombie horde became thinner and thinner, I started reanalyzing our stances in Pandora.

Currently, the city was divided into two, the north and the south.

The northern side was occupied by us, and was fully barricaded with men and walls.

We've managed to quickly convince normal citizens into joining our ranks, since they had no other way of defending themselves.

Gun control was strict in Pandora, so almost all normal citizens didn't have guns.

Unfortunately, this was what led the southern part of the city fall into chaos.

Since the cops and military had their war in the south, it essentially made the entire region as the base of these zombies.

Moreover, as time went by, we started seeing curious local wildlife entering our city.

The three zombie dragons we had just killed were among the curious wildlife.

It seemed that they had a sizeable amount of intelligence, likely rivalling that of chimpanzees.

Unfortunately, their curiosity was what killed them. They probably tried eating the zombies, only to have themselves infected by the parasites.

We were lucky enough to not experience the dragons before they had turned into zombied.

"Boss! We've annihilated them all!"

One of the men exclaimed.

"Don't be too complacent! Bring 20 other people with you. Check all the corpses and kill them if they're still moving. Pile up all the dead ones and then burn them in the Cremation Center!"

'With these many zombies, I'm not gonna be surprised if our entire 12 million population gets reduced into only a million.'

'Regardless, we need to move south as fast as possible.'

"Those who are not dealing with the corpses, we move again!"

We were currently just outside of the central area of the city, still close to the northern barricades.

I recounted my current men, and we had around 100 people with us after I set aside 21 others to clean the corpses.

Our current goal was to pierce through all the zombies directly into the police headquarters located near the southern beach and loot all their stuff.

The police had way more advanced stuff than us. They had robots, tactical armor, armored vehicles, railguns, and many more.

Our main goal was to get the railguns.

Currently, our forces have mostly gunpowder weapons. They're good, but since we're in another world, gunpowder was limited.

With railguns, we only need to worry about the bullets.

We also cannot rely on melee weapons since the zombies could easily overwhelm us with their sheer numbers.

Since there were small police stations along the way, we could visit them to resupply.

BOOOOOOOOM

BOOBOOBOOBOOOOOM

A head-sized cluster grenade was thrown in the midst of a zombie horde, blowing up multiple times.

Thankfully, this zombie horde was small, we managed to clear them in one go. The stragglers were shot down as well.

"Let's keep moving!"

I exclaimed, prmpting our group to move forward once again.

Since we weren't close to our base, we couldn't destroy the zombies' corpses.

Why destroy the corpses? Well, because of the parasites. If for example, a random cat or a dog ate them, then newer zombies would be made.

"Boss! I see it!"

Said one of the men. They were one of our scouts.

"Great, now let's hope that the cops are all dead, since we don't want to get shot. If things go as we predicted, only the robots would be there, and then we can use the EMP cannon."

I thought for a second and continued my announcement.

"If cops are still there.... we negotiate. If that fails, then we need to make a new plan."

It's a high-risk, high-reward plan.

"Scouts move first, then we wait for the signal. Is it clear?"

After hearing that, they all nodded.

****

We spread out into 4 groups, each group had around 20-25 members. The rest were either scouting our backs, or scouting the police headquarters.

Since there might still be cops in there, we couldn't just use walkie-talkies or any other radio-based devices, since they might overhear us.

'Although unlikely, we still shouldn't risk it.'

Since it was almost midnight, our signal used simple flashlights.

One flash of light meant that there's no one alive in the headquarters.

Two flashes of light meant there was still people alive.

Three flashes of light signalled retreat, only to be used when there's unexpected danger. The ones scouting our backs also needed to use this signal just in case.

We patiently waited for around 10 minutes.

'Ah, there it is. One flash? Good, we can proceed.'

Whilst walking slowly towards the headquarters, all the scouts watching behind us signalled 3 flash of lights.

'SHIT!'

If it wasn't for one of our men periodically looking back, we wouldn't have noticed.

We could feel the ground trembling. A huge zombie horde was approaching and it might just be the biggest one we've encountered.

"Set up the EMP cannon, quickly!"

I whispered loudly to be as quiet as possible.

Three people quickly set up the EMP cannon and aimed it towards the police headquarters.

Multiple subsequent EMP waves were fired towards the headquarters to ensure that any sort of backup power or fail-safe system also gets fried. We needed the robots to be inactive for at least 30 minutes, that way, we could hijack them.

The EMP cannon was silent, but did the job perfectly. All the lights in the headquarters went down.

'Now I can only hope that my shitty luck won't cause our deaths.'

I then signalled with my hand to move forward.

Next chapter should be epic. Do give me suggestions on what can be improved.
