Reassurance

I crashed onto a cot with a loud sigh. Aaron closed the door and looked over at me, "You feel better?"

"Not really," I sighed, "I'm really tired though."

Aaron sat on the cot next to mine, "Yeah. Traveling can do that to you."

I sat up, "Do you think Bones will be ok?"

"Probably. The foundation still needs information from him."

That didn't help the lump in my stomach. I rubbed my eyes, "Maybe I just need some rest."

Aaron stood up, "Alright. I'll leave you to it." He opened the door and stepped out. I laid my head back down on my pillow and took deep breaths.

From what Bones said, it seemed that the previous child of SCP-4210-c was killed by Lennie. Lennie seemed to want some sort of cover for his research, and SCP-4210-c was the best option. But why slip in like that? And how? I thought it was monitored by the foundation, so how did he get in?

I rolled on my side, my brain hurting from the long day. Slowly, my brain fizzed into darkness, sleep overtaking me.

"Iris. Iris, wake up."

A voice woke me up. My eyes slowly opened. I was in a huge room, sleeping on a silk couch with a blanket over me. A fountain was in the middle, with koi fish swimming around in it. Golden pillars held the ceiling up and the painting in the Sistine chapel spread across it.

"Ah, you're awake," A familiar voice said above me. I looked up to see an old man dressed in a tuxedo.

"Dale?!" I sat up quickly, "I thought you were back at site 17!"

Dale chuckled, "No, I still am. Do you think those measly concrete walls could keep me contained?"

I smiled nervously, "I keep forgetting you are a god."

Dale sat down on a chair next to mine, "God? Maybe. All-knowing and powerful? Yes. So how is your investigation going?"

I chuckled, "Don't you already know? I thought you were all-knowing."

"I do know," Dale said, "But I want to hear it from you."

I smiled, "Well, I have been making some progress. We've gathered information from a CI informative, and interviewed an agent called Bones."

Dale nodded slowly, "That's good. How has working with Aaron been?"

"He's gotten nicer," I recalled, "He's not picking on me anymore and has even stuck up for me."

"And Dr. Bright? How is he?"

"He's great. He doesn't seem to like site 300 that much."

Dale leaned back in his chair, "Makes sense. This is where he was bound to SCP 963 after all."

I perked up, "What?"

"Yep. About 80 years ago to this day," Dale laughed, "Man, that was a fun day."

I was speechless, "Holy fluff."

"Holy fluff indeed," Dale held his hands out and two teacups appeared, "Herbal ginger tea?"

I paused before taking one of the cups, "Thanks."

Dale chuckled, "Don't mention it. Beings like us need the company."

I smiled, "Wow. Being compared to someone like you is very high praise."

Dale let out a low chuckle, "That's what we are. People may call us SCPs or Skips, but what we are- what you are, is something completely different."

I sipped some of my tea, "I hope so. Honestly, everything I do here makes me feel like I'm messing up. "

I frowned and looked down at my tea. I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up to see Dale smiling, "Don't worry about that, you're doing great, Iris. Take it from me." I nodded silently as he continued, "One thing you must realize is every great person in the world has felt like that. Has felt like they're messing up. Einstein, Graham, Washington, Elizabeth II..."

I looked up at him, "You've met-"

"Point is," He rose to his feet, "These thoughts aren't new in the world. Just keep pushing past them," He turned to walk away, "Goodbye Iris."

I blinked. I was in the barracks again. It felt like morning as I sat up and stretched. I looked over at Aaron who was sleeping close to the door, another guard was keeping watch as he slept. He looked over at me, acknowledging that he saw me. I laid back down and curled up into a ball on my cot.

I wasn't going to tell the foundation about Dale's visits.

That was my secret to keep.

I walked into the hallway, Aaron and the other guard, Trevor, at my sides. Bright and Roth were there as well. Bright had his clipboard and Roth had a small pouch hanging from her side.

They entered the same containment chamber as before. Bones was in the same room, slumped over the table. One of his legs seemed to be damaged and he was now handcuffed, but without skin, they seem like they could easily slip off.

After putting the earpiece back on, I was led back to the entrance of the room. As the door opened, Bone's head perked up once again, "Hundred and five?"

"Hey Bones," I greeted him, "How are you today?"

Bones chattered his teeth, "Bone's didn't move. Too sad."

I frowned, "I'm sorry about that, Bones-"

"Stop calling him Bones," Jaci's voice spoke on the earpiece, "Refer to him by his serial number."

I frowned. Jaci was starting to get on my nerves. I pressed the speak button, "He seems to respond better if I use it."

She was silent for a few moments, "Fine."

"Hundred and five?" Bone spoke up, "Did I offend you?"

I smiled, "No Bones. May I ask you some more questions?" Bones bobbed his head and I continued, "Why were you working for the Chaos Insurgency?"

Bones tilted his head, "Bones has always worked there."

"Really?"

"Yep! Bones is a good worker!" He clicked his teeth together, "Bones made mom happy."

I looked at the last question and paused, "How- How do you know about... me? About SCP-105?"

Bones sat up in his chair and a piece of him fell off, "Because you're Bone's mission."

"Pardon?"

"Good flesh needs hundred and five," Bones laid back in his chair, "They need a portal to Lily."

I raised an eyebrow, "Who?"

Bones clicked his teeth, "Lily Veselka. She needs us."

Something happened to me when I heard the name. Something made my blood start rushing, and my heart pound. I leaned forward, "Who is Lily Vese-"

The door opened and MTF guards came in, "This interview is done. 105, come with us." I was roughly lifted to my feet and pulled out of the room, Bones yelling in dismay in the back. Aaron began to follow when he was stopped. "You are relieved from duty, Aaron."

"But-" Aaron glanced at me for a moment.

"Leave it, Aaron," Jaci stepped forward, "Go to the barracks."

Aaron looked from Jaci to me a few times before stepping back, "Yes, Director."

Jaci nodded and waved for us to leave. I felt the guards tug me out the door and walk me down the hallway. For a moment there, I felt something in my chest.

Something cold.
