Sitting on the couch, Alex's thoughts raced like a freight train, each carriage carrying a different scenario, none of them offering a clear way out. Michelle's eyes bore into him, her gaze like a spotlight on his inner turmoil.
A bead of sweat rolled down his temple, a testament to his escalating anxiety. There was no way out of this situation other than telling her the truth but that might also aggravate the situation. Who knew how Michelle might react if she found out that he was a sanguine?
The room's silence was punctuated by the tension in the air, until the sound of the door opening cut through the thick atmosphere.
Alex's heart skipped a beat as he saw Kira, Lilly, and Maira entering the room. A wave of both relief and bewilderment swept over him. He had certainly not expected this.
