The Runaway Huntress

*WPC #139 FL-modern werewolf Silver Tier ************** "Reject me, Ezekiel." How she wanted to repeat saying his name. It could be her favorite word from now on. "So that your throne won't be compromised by having a mate like me." If it were in any other circumstances, Ezekiel could have closed his eyes to savor her voice upon calling his name. But he was starting to feel the rising rage in him. His grip on her throat slightly tightened. If she were any other wolf or someone else less than him, they would already cower by just meeting his gaze. "Do you..." He swallowed hard in contained anger. "Realise..." He inhaled a huge amount of air. "The extent..." A second before he finished the last words deliberately. "Of what you were asking?" He retorted, emphasizing each word to make her understand what she wanted him to do. Yes. Her mind paused. Not really. A dreaded thought shook her courage. Her gaze at him faltered. "You were after my people's lives. Do you think I would just let you roam around freely and take them?" "You would kill me if only I wasn't your mate, right?" She believes that's the only reason that she's still alive by his hands until now. Asking that question made her swallow hard the lump in her throat, as the hurt started to rise again. "You said so before." She added. ******************** Too much for being a werewolf. A werewolf that can never shift. But that's the last of her concerns. CHAPTER 31

"Liz? Liz!" Lorna touched her friend's arm to get her back from the present happenings. "Are you okay? Where's your mind at?" She eyed her with a crease between her eyebrows.

Melisca shook her head and moved back from Lorna. "No, I don't want to be strapped on that chair." Her voice was low and pleading.

"This is the last requirement for you to join us, Liz." Lorna took a step to get close to the woman. "I don't know what happened or why you seemed traumatized by seeing that seat, but you have to look at the future. If you're going to be with us, you can avenge your sister. Isn't that what you wanted?" She stated to her face so she would get her point.

"What would you do to me if I sat on that thing?" Liz asked roughly with a glare in her eyes.

"We'll put you under a drug for truth." It was Dr Vera who replied.

Melisca's forehead knotted in disbelief and turned to the woman in a white coat. "What? Drug for truth?"

"Yes, we don't want any traitors in our clan and to protect the organization. You have nothing to worry about if you don't have any harmful agenda in joining us."

She wanted to laugh at what the doctor said. Harmful? Of course, she doesn't have plans for that, only much worse.

Truth drug? How would it affect her system? How would she react to it then? Reveal some truths anyway or continue what she had said to Lorna? If it managed to influence her thinking, how long would it be before she could save her situation?

Rico pulled out a syringe from one of the racks and uncapped it. Lorna noticed him and shook her head in his direction. "Liz, are you in or not?"

Melisca eyed the door and the strapped chair, then to Lorna. With a loud exhale of submission, she announced, "Fine, let's get this done with." She stomped to the seat and settled herself. Her heart was racing for the unknown level of risk that she would take. She can only rely upon her blood now to clear the foreign chemical out of her system shortly before she reveals the forbidden facts in her life.

"You need to take off that jacket." Lorna spoke again. She removed her thick clothing, and the girl reached for it. With only her sleeveless top, the cold temperature in the room brushed her bare shoulders and arms.

Rico approached her and started locking the thick leather belt straps. She followed his movement. When he was done with her hands, he bent to clasp her above the ankles.

Melisca closed her eyes and breathed through her lips. The memories started to arise in her mind. Then she felt the seat leaning down backwards, and her knees were straightened as the sitting position changed into lying on her back.

She had opened her eyes from the startling transition. Dr Vera raised her head and placed a pillow under it.

"What.." She mumbled, about to move her limbs, but the straps restrained her movements. She pressed her lips. She had quickly forgotten that she had lost her freedom for the moment.

"How long would this take?"

Doctor Vera pulled off her rider gloves and began placing circular tubes around her left wrist. She saw her gloves being put down on a table.

"Depends if we were satisfied with your answers." Replied Rico, spraying alcohol in his hands.

"Is this even accurate?" The laughing tone in her voice made the doctor glare in her direction. She stood a few distances from Liz.

"I don't like your friend's attitude." She whispered to her daughter, who was scanning the questions in the black folder.

"The feeling is mutual, doctor." Melisca said with gritting teeth as she stared up at the dark gray ceiling. The light was hurting her eyes. She lifted her arm to cover the blinding glow, but the straps restrained her.

"Did I say that out loud?"

"She responded. What do you think?" Lorna shrugged off her mother's question and didn't give her any attention.

"Will you turn off that light above me? It's hurting my vision." Liz complained, and Lorna looked at the lamp straight up at the woman.

"No, we have to see everything." Rico uttered.

Doctor Vera finished setting up the ECG monitor and checked Liz's vitals. "She's ready."

Lorna prepared the recording and put it on a desk beside the bed, where Liz lay down.

Vera picked up a syringe and dipped it into a bottle of clear liquid. She's careful with the dosage of the first injection. Checking the amount of drug close to her sight, when it reached the exact line of volume, she gave the bottle to Rico and snatched a cotton ball, dipped it with antiseptic, and rubbed a certain spot in her left shoulder.

The cool wet ball that the doctor rubbed in circular motion somehow gave her a pleasant feeling, calming her tensioned nerves. "Relax."

She removed the cotton and pointed the needle to her skin, then poured the content into her system.

Fuck, here it goes. Melisca hissed in the slight pinched pain.

"Let's wait for a minute." Vera mumbled and looked at Liz's face.

Lorna was standing at the end of the bed. Her own heart was beating rapidly. She was kind of nervous about what she was to find out. Was the information Liz said to her true? Was the story she told her real? What would be revealed at this stage now?

Melisca took a deep breath and closed her eyes to get a hold of her focus. She shouldn't let the liquid drug affect her reasoning. This kind of potion was new to her system, so she didn't know how her body and mind would react to it. She's now feeling a little light-headed. Opening her eyes, she met the sight of the doctor on the left side of her bed.

Doctor Vera glanced at the ECG monitor. The girl's heartbeat had calmed down than earlier. Then she started at her eyes by touching her jaw, nothing changed. "How do you feel?"

Melisca could smell the breath of the woman. "What should I feel?" She retorted the question. Vera let go of her face and took a syringe again.

This time, the dose will be doubled for the content to start kicking in. She had expected that the pre-shot would not much do anything to the girl. Liz's face flinched when she injected her the second time.

"How long before it would take effect?" She asked after the content of the needle was emptied.

"Depends on your system. You haven't eaten so it won't be long." Glancing at the monitor, the girl's heart rate returned to normal. "You are more relaxed now."

Melisca glared at the doctor. She hissed and closed her eyes as she felt a little dizzy. Does it start its effect? When she opened her sight, her vision blurred and she kept blinking until it slightly got better. "What's.. happening to me?" Her tongue felt heavy to speak normally.

"What's your name?"

"Liz." She promptly answered. Does the doctor actually think that she could poison her mind so easily? She wanted to laugh at that. It made her feel drunk but it won't affect her thinking as she got a strong sense of rationality.

Vera's forehead knotted and her lips pressed in a thin line, she noticed the woman in bed wasn't immediately influenced by the drug. "I see, you got a high tolerance for drugs maybe. Have you taken any before? Or are you a user?"

Melisca clicked her tongue, the dizziness had turned down. "I did have some, so yes, I have a high tolerance." But all actually, it was just her wolf blood doing the work, cleansing her system. But, she doesn't know that. They should never have this information about her.

The doctor nodded and picked up a syringe again from the table.

"Mom, is it still safe?" Lorna interrupted. She was worried about the dosage that Liz could take.

"I'm a doctor, what are you worrying about?" Vera glanced at her with a warning and returned her attention to the bottle of the drug in her hands.

Lorna knew that most people who had undergone the interrogation only took the second shot before they spilled their soul out. It was already dangerous for their system.

"What's the matter?" Liz asked, she had heard Lorna's heartbeat went up.

The doctor shot her daughter a glare.

"Nothing, how are you feeling?" She approached the bed but Rico blocked his arm, for her not to take another step.

He turned his head to the side and waved it gradually, a sign to stop her interruption.

"I'm fine." She heard Liz mumbled and she slowly breathed a sigh of relief.

Lorna retreated but not after giving Rico a scowling face. She took a sit on a single couch far across her friend's bed.

The third shot was the same dose as before. Vera hoped it would now work or else the woman's system wouldn't be able to handle the intake of the drug.

"Let's just hope this would kick in already." She uttered before pricking the syringe to Liz's skin.

"I hope so too, I don't like being held down." Melisca clenched and unclenched her fists, it started getting numb from being unable to move enough.

She blinked as her head felt light and vision started to get blurry and eyelids heavy, her eyes were half-open.

"What's your name?" Doctor Vera stared at her closely. Her patient looked confused with a crease between her eyebrows. She's trying to understand her situation.

"Kaliz." Came her reply. Melisca breathed heavily as she strived to get a hold of her mind. It started to get foggy like her body was not her own anymore. Detached, that's what she exactly felt at the moment.

Everyone was quiet for a minute, staring at her change of expression.

Doctor Vera eyed Rico and tilted her head for the folder near Lorna. She signalled for him to take note.

She turned to Liz again and caressed her head, the other girl looked at her directly, she somehow had the same eyes as someone she had known a very long time ago. Vera shook her head to erase the rubbish thoughts. She pulled her hand back and with a small smile, she asked, "Now, what's your name?"

"Melisca Lorwey." Her lips moved without any thought as she heard her voice.
