chapter 20: clothes make the hero

I did not hate heroes. While most of them were incredibly annoying, and some were downright evil, they generally did good work for the people, which I appreciated. However, they had one specific trait that I despised with every cell of my being: their terrible fashion sense. To be precise, I hated their strange love for spandex and skin-tight clothing in general. Almost every hero I had ever seen wore some form of a skin-tight bodysuit, with the only difference being the patterns and color scheme. I hated it so much.

I understood why they did it. Such outfits were easy and cheap to manufacture. Simplistic designs and vibrant colors did well with kids, which meant more revenue from merchandise. And the skin-tight spandex that showed off the men's muscles and the women's curves meant that the adults could have their fun as well. Perverts like one grape-shaped boy would never complain, but I had always felt that such things were rather improper. A serious occupation should be less horny, in my opinion. Maybe that's why I died a virgin (to be fair, I was on the verge of changing that).

For those reasons, I wanted my hero outfit to be something different, something unique. For a moment, I considered a three-piece suit, handkerchief and all. But, while I knew I would look positively dashing, I felt like it did not suit my powers or an occupation centered around combat. Plus, it did not feel very original. I also considered wearing a martial arts uniform, as I had spent a good portion of my school life in the martial arts club and was quite proficient at hand-to-hand combat. But, it also had the same problems as the suit. Plus, it would be too plain.

No, I wanted something more. Something memorable, majestic, regal even, yet efficient, and fit for combat. And most importantly, something that was not skin tight. I did not like people seeing my balls.

After thinking long and hard and getting to practice my not-too-shabby drawing skills extensively, I had finally settled on a final design for my hero outfit and sent it to U.A. Now, it was time to present it to the world. Or at least my classmates.

I was the last to enter Ground Beta, the city-sized battle center where the entrance exam took place. I could have been the first, but I chose not to. I wanted the added dramatic effect. My classmates stood there, posing in front of All Might as if he was holding a camera. Their outfits were pose-worthy, though. They looked good. Though, sadly for them, none could hold a candle to my awesomeness.

A long, deep purple jacket that flowed in the wind. A black waistcoat, pants, and gloves. And purple boots, all with golden accents that shone like the sun. White, victorian style collar and cuffs to finish off an outfit fit for the noblest of royalty and the strongest of heroes. As I walked into the battle center, I flared my aura, bathing in its kaleidoscopic hue. I looked at the others, who stared in amazement. I smiled. I did not notice it at the time, but as I basked in the stares of my classmates, I radiated a subtle, barely noticeable aura that could only come from a king.

A.N./// here it finally is. is a little cringe but it fits the purpose, plus it looks like something you could actually see in the mha world, ya know. i was going to do some variation of the warlock robes from destiny but that wouldn't really fit in this story. love y'all
