Chapter 45

"I wanted to eat scrambled eggs, and I decided to make some for myself.

The call went on longer than the two had expected. Alex, scared earlier on, relaxed and Malia, who was bored, found company as she made her scrambled eggs. She ate while Alex was on the other side too. They spoke for almost an hour, and Alex hung up, telling her to tell Dawson if she felt uncomfortable.

After hanging up, Malia, who had finished eating, took her plate to the kitchen and decided to wash it with the pan she had used. When she was done, she went to the balcony to look around at the view.

She sat down, and her mind started wandering. It went from her appreciating the beautiful view to thinking about how her life had changed. Not long, she was just an ordinary waitress in a restaurant, and now she was pregnant with the child of the most influential businessman. She had a best friend who would do anything for her.

She started to question fate if all that she went through earlier in life was to prepare for this moment. The feelings were bitter-sweet. She lost her parents at such a tender age and landed into her aunt's hands, who hated the air she breathed. She still wondered why the couple would take her in if they hated her that much.

Now she was a mother. Malia had doubts about the kind of mother she would be. Deep within her lay the different possibilities that carried who she wanted to be. She hoped to be the best mother to her babies, giving them double of everything she had missed in childhood. Loving her babies might be a way of her finding healing after being so wounded all these years. Maybe her scars would fade if she found that tenderness within her.

"Madam," Dawson called out as he handed her a glass of cold orange juice

"Thank you, Mr. Dawson," Malia said as she collected the glass from him.

Dawson had seen her and decided to get her a glass of juice. The Alpha had told him to take care of her needs and ensure that she didn't have any form of discomfort.

Malia sipped the juice, and it was delicious. However, she was bored, especially now that Mr. Ford had stopped her from going to work. She wanted to protest but remembering what doctor Henry had said about her pregnancy being delicate, she didn't want to be selfish, so she decided to remain at home. If only Amber lived with her.

Now that she thought of Amber, she couldn't help but question her reasons for working at the restaurant when she had a rich boyfriend. Malia believed that Mr. Daniel being Mr. Ford's best friend meant he was rich too. She shook her head, telling herself that it was none of her business.

At the restaurant, Amber was happy because she was soon going to complete her mission. She had waited for over four months just for this moment. Then, yesterday when she was serving some of the guests in the private rooms, she overheard a conversation that helped her decipher that the guests coming in today were the ones she had waited for all along.

She had informed Daniel, and he had sent Cross and one other bodyguard to come in in disguise as customers.

Thanks to Amber working at the Grandier Palate restaurant for over four months, she gained Mr. Harold's trust. As a result, she had been chosen as one of the girls who would serve the guests who would come in.

Mr. Harold had emphasized that the guests they would welcome were essential and that the girls needed to behave appropriately. Most of the girls knew the drill, and only Amber knew one because she had joined a few months back.

Amber didn't know much about what took place in the private room, but according to Daniel, some girls performed as escorts to the guests.

There is information that the Alpha wanted, and according to the report, the people that harbored that information often met in the Grandier Palate because the restaurant owner collected what he could from them. In turn, they carried out their transactions without anyone interfering.

Three cars drove very soon to the restaurant entrance, and Mr. Harold, alongside the chosen girls, went out to welcome the much-anticipated guests. Amber adjusted the button-like pin on her chest.

the ballet opened the door of the middle car, and a middle-aged man came out. He looked dark with a scar that ran from his jaw down his throat. There was nothing beautiful about his face. He just looked scary with the very many facial lines that were all fighting to be seen. He was around six feet tall and looked lunky. He stood and adjusted his black suit, swept his eyes through the girls who had come to welcome him, and smirked.

'What an ugly-looking man,' thought Amber

"You are welcome, Mr. Luke Lumbert" Harold smiled wide as he welcomed the so-called Mr. Lambert.

As he spoke, he looked at the six girls behind him, who bowed their heads to welcome the man and his entourage.

Mr. Lambert barely swept his eyes at them and didn't even recognize their greeting, and went directly inside, making Mr. Harold run after him like a dog.

Amber, whose head was still bowed, sneered at Mr. Harold. 'So there was someone that could scare the greedy idiot.

Amber had been unhappy when Daniel told her he wouldn't be around. She was scared, thinking of how he would go away after she had told him about what she had heard. However, Daniel had promised to send Cross and Andy to help her. She felt better after hearing that. Cross and Andy were the best men of the Alpha after the Beta.
